[attr="class","aurelie"] [attr="class","aurelie_lyrics"]Calm and comforting [attr="class","aurelie_body"]As far as medical exams go, eye exams and visits to the optometrist aren't generally considered as bad as dentist or doctor visits, but they can be stressful and uncomfortable for patients nonetheless. Thus, this particular optometrist's office employed a serene Milotic as an eye exam technician. It was she who conducted the always-dreaded eye dilation tests, where her comforting, peaceful presence provided a definite benefit. Today, the first patient needing an eye dilation exam was a bespectacled middle-aged man who entered the room with an apprehensive air. Gesturing with her long, flowing lavender-colored fins, the Milotic waved hello and beckoned him to sit down in the chair in front of the exam table. He did so, removing his glasses and watching nervously as she approached the exam table. The next part was always a little tricky for a Pokemon without opposable thumbs or, well, even hands, but the Milotic had become quite proficient at using her head fins carefully and precisely. First, she gestured toward the sign on the wall telling patients to keep their eyes wide open for the eyedrops. The man gulped but nodded, tilting his head back and fixing his eyes open to their widest. Then, using the prehensile ends of her long head fins, the Milotic aimed carefully at the man's eyes and squeezed a carefully measured number of medicated eyedrops into them, managing to avoid spattering him with liquid. As expected, the man twitched a little but kept admirably still. The Milotic curved her lips into a reassuring smile, her body pulsing with a soft glow, and pointed to the clock on the wall, indicating that in ten minutes' time, his eyes should be ready. She moved to darken the overhead lights, knowing that the medicated eyedrops would make his eyes more sensitive to light. In the darkness, the Milotic's body glowed a soft lilac color, sending out a pulsing wave of energy to calm her patient's tension and anxiety. Her scales gleamed in the dim radiance in a rainbow of colors as she wove back and forth with graceful, undulating movements, providing a restful spectacle for her patient in lieu of conversation. Finally, the man's pupils were properly dilated and ready for the test. Holding up a small flashlight with the ends of her fins to shine into his eyes, the Milotic checked meticulously for any signs of macular degeneration, glaucoma, cataracts, or other eye diseases. The man kept still throughout the exam, lulled by the Milotic's soothing energy, and thankfully his eyes appeared free of potential disease. She patted his shoulder lightly with her other fin in a gesture of positive affirmation. Still illuminated by her own glow, the Milotic then indicated that the man should continue holding his eyes open. Taking a deep breath, the aquatic Pokemon then gently bathed his medicated eyes in a small amount of healing LIFE DEW. The man blinked a few time, looking puzzled but pleased as the mysterious curative water soothed and relieved his eyes from the stinging discomfort of being dilated. Then the Milotic withdrew, sweeping both of her head fins toward the door to signal that the man could leave. The whole procedure had only taken about fifteen minutes total, including the ten minutes for the medicated eyedrops to work. She left the lights darkened until the man departed with a thumbs-up and a grateful smile to her, before turning the lights back up and heading for the huge tub of water against the wall where she'd rest until her next patient arrived.
