Gunner walked through the brightly lit hallways of the laboratories at Ever Grande City, following the signs pointing to the one owned by Dr. illeana reyes. In tow was none other than Chu-e Choi, who had requested this appointment in the first place.[break][break]

Though they were microchipped, Gunner was not about to let the former Rocket Beast out of his sight on League government property. And so he accompanied Chu-e as their escort.[break][break]

At Gunner's belt were six Pokéballs, the resident of each one ready and willing to incapacitate Chu-e if necessary.[break][break]

Thankfully, they arrived at Illeana's lab without incident. Gunner greeted the Head Professor with a polite smile as soon as he saw her. "Good morning, Dr. Reyes. It's good to see you again."

There was discomfort.

Gunner Graves would be able to see it. While Chu-e usually tried to smile and appear kind and witty in their encounters, it was forced. Smile tight, eyebrows pinched. Occasionally the grimace he wanted to show would peek out before he could carefully smooth out his features. Hugging himself a little tighter than was necessary.

Chu-e hadn't been permitted any of his pokemon with him. Even his medical assigned ones. It would have helped.

It was not the people. It was the place.

But Chu-e had requested this.

He lingered at the doorway, hesitant to go inside the actual lab. Glancing around, his eyes lingered on the various equipment in the room. Yet when they found illeana reyes, he locked onto her. Finally inched forward over the threshold. Didn't allow his eyes to linger elsewhere; as the room itself might come alive and attack if he dared break eye contact.

Chu-e still, in the end, chickened out.

Screwing his eyes tight together, he grit his teeth and tried to still his racing heart. Gunner could handle this for a few minutes more.

the pair enter her work space with little hesitation and she moves to join them by the door. behind her, machines beep steadily through idle analysis.

there, her eyes shift to focus on Chu-e Choi for a moment before flittering back over to Gunner Graves.

"do you need a moment before we begin?"

the smile holds firm, personable and warm.

"i'll need to take samples prior if that's alright with you, mr. choi."

Gunner nodded, his smile widening by a fraction. "It has. I hope you've been well since we last met," he said to Illeana.[break][break]

When she regarded Chu-e, Gunner did the same. The other man seemed terrified, his eyes scrunched closed. In this state, Gunner found it difficult to view Chu-e as the once-formidable commander of Team Rocket's armies.[break][break]

"I'm just here in case of an incident," he said. "Please proceed when you're both ready."
