The ginger girl offered a shrug in CASPIAN LEVESQUE’s direction. Copper eyes slid toward his notebook, curious what exactly he was scribbling at. Maybe some bullshit poetry about silver bells? The woman’s snort was disguised by the burning of alcohol. Only after that settled into her stomach did Madeline give him her full attention. “It’s nice to meet you, Doc.” Talk about braggardly—Aubre never used her title. People she liked didn’t start with titles. Still, the bookworm seemed harmless enough.

Though not a huge fan of wine, Madeline took a glass when offered. Her face softened as she turned toward the window. “Not too bad.” Her hands wiped sweat down her jeans. A few snowflakes could be seen in the air outside. It made Madd think of home. “This is the first year it feels like a holiday.” Unsuccessful in his attempts to fix the broken ornament, the Obstagoon resumes his post at his trainer’s side. His normally silly demeanor is shy and demure—a sign of guilt. When the redhead isn’t looking, he slides the shattered crystal beneath a coaster.

The conversation continues until it’s time to unwrap. The Kiss Cam earns red cheeks but no further reaction. She wasn't going to do that dance for some random DJ. She keeps her eyes out for her gift. Only after seeing it being torn into does she turn to her own. Though—as she starts—her posture becomes almost turtle-like. Opening gifts always made her feel like a performing monkey.

Surprised by her own excitement, she quickly tears into the envelope. Yakuza crowds over her, crimson eyes wide with curiosity. He probably thought there was food in here. “Stop crowding me, Yakky.” The little ticket slid to the bar top. Copper eyes blinked. “Huh.” Holding it up to the other bargoers, she asked, “Does anyone know where this is? It's not a sex thing, right?”

Having heard @xenon bitching about that stuff earlier, Yakuza turns to face her. With a toothy grin, he waves the card at her.

Xenon lets that last part go unspoken as she pets the weird metal nut on his head, absolutely zero fucking idea what he's saying as he blurbles in his weird little Meltan language.

The party reaches its midpoint as gifts begin getting exchanged amongst the various partygoers, she has no idea who her gift is going to nor does she particularly care, but she's definitely interested what kind of free shit she might be getting tonight. So she moves to get up from her seat-

And is immediately interrupted as she spots a little Porygon floating by her head with a drone camera attached to its body, pointing directly at her and Shred recording... something. It takes another second for her to figure out what that something is as she looks around cluelessly at the other Porygone floating around, until finally she spots the large screen up by the DJ booth and both herself and Shred framed by a heart with the words Kiss Cam at the top.

This was... not something she was familiar with. She had never gone to a baseball game or any kind of sporting event, nor had she ever been one to watch TV or romantic movies in her life. The most romantic thing she had ever engaged with was an avant garde Kalosian art project where she was posing nude for a gory murder scene immediately followed by an absurdist monologue on the nature of the moon coming from her dead body. Don't bother trying to find that online, it was almost immediately taken down after two days of circulation on local social media and has been erased from the internet ever since.

A gentle weight settles on her right shoulder as Shred sets his hand down on her, looking her dead in the eyes as he asks just about the dumbest question you could ever ask a girl in a situation like this. Even she with her disdain of social niceties and protocol knew that was just the worst question you could ever ask a girl as a man.

She's still the first to go in for the kiss as she pushes her face forwards and slams her lips into Shred's, invading his mouth with her tongue and stealing his breath as she entangles with him for a solid ten seconds. Her eyes are half lidded as she finally pulls away and licks her lips, taking in a shallow breath. Xenon licks her lips as she digests Shred's flavor for a brief second, her own mouth tasted like hard whiskey still from her drink, just like his. Not the worst flavor, but nothing new and exciting. "I don't think we have an HR department. But don't worry, I don't bite."

So many emotions ran wild through his mind as he played his little game with Elisabeth Fiorelli, grinning from ear to ear as her fingers graced the tattoo spanning upward to his chin. He presumed her laughter and 'physical affection' was brought on by a mutual feeling of attraction, looking into her eyes with a partially drunken stupor, silent as he soaked in her every word. But the osculation he expected was a deposit of a crumbled-up plastic drink in the hand rather than on the lips, tapioca pearls wandering down his arm in the slush. All he could do was laugh in amusement, partially invigorated and partially disgusted.[break][break]

He expected a woman of such a prolific, poisonous nature to be ugly on the inside, but did she believe herself to be ugly on the outside, too? Or maybe she had picked up all the brain cells that he'd lost with all that pregaming, who knew? A part of him wanted to tear away that pretty shell of confidence she presented herself with piece by piece, but he knew his place here at the bar and as a fresh recruit. That was a thought he'd wish to entertain later if they crossed paths, even if the other half of him sat there like an entertained, infatuated Poochyena. He watched her closely as she walked away, sparking up a cigarette after downing more of his drink.[break][break]

Most of the attendees of the party seemed to be off in their worlds now, or at least the ones that were around to watch that underboss do that. As the electronic pokemon whirled around the partygoers and the announcement of the kiss cam was made, he laughed a bit more, waving his hands to essentially get it to fuck off. "We do shit the organic way, fuck a kiss cam," he chuckled, looking to @vanessa with clear drunkenness in his eyes, ".. tryna hit the slots? We could pick up a few others on the way, assuming they can hold a conversation longer than two minutes."[break][break]

Getting used to having a melting, leaking cup of hate in his hand wasn't something he'd imagined this night would be made of. But he was more focused on the cravings of alcohol and gambling to give a care.

The mispronunciation only makes the woman smile brighter. There is pleasure in making him play along. Just as the cat rejoices when its deceased foe receives a second wind. She lifts up a piece of banana bread. “I will certainly give it a try.” It disappears behind perfectly made-up lips. An appreciative hum follows as she turns away from the table. She’d become bored of schuyler tate. “Have a lovely holiday, Mister Tate.” [break][break]

Her red dress swirls as she turns to face the room proper. Like a biologist picking which butterfly to pin, her eyes jump from face to face. Finally, they settle on a scarred, greasy figure behind the bar. “Purrseus, do be a doll and entertain yourself for a moment.” With a nod, the oversized cat disappeared into the crowd. His eyes caught on Shred’s glittering companion. The Kiss Cam silliness earned a few chuckles. Sadly, only a few chickadees played along. Most of them either did not notice or pointedly ignored the cheerful invitation. Tough luck, Minty. It appears no one else finds you refreshing. [break][break]

The next round of entertainment ears a soft, indulgent smile. For once, it's not an act. Magic really is delightful. She wished it was easier to make real people disappear. [break][break]

Just as she neared the bar—stopping on the way to schmooze with a few nobodies from her department—the gifts were called out. Taking the little green package into her arms, Calpurnia continued toward dorian westcliff’s drink station. Once seated on a stool, the woman opened it up. “Oooh~<3!” The woman hums as she brings the first bottle to her face. She takes a sniff. While it smells heavenly, the lack of label makes her pause. Did someone make this? [break][break]

Setting the lotion aside for now, she turns to dorian westcliff. A hand reaches across the counter as if to grab his, swiping the greenish liquid across his skin. “Would you be a love and make me something fruity?” Her smile is dazzling. Her violet eyes shift to Shred and @xenon. “I seem to have fallen behind.” [break][break]

Remembering this long-haired, effeminate man from a previous meeting, Purrsseus weaves his way to toward Shred. Arriving near the end of the kiss, he goes to weave around the stranger’s ankles. This action aims to not only ruin his dark suit—cat fur is sticky—but also to unsteady him enough to hopefully bring the mercurial misfit into range. [break][break]

The company she was surrounded by was lovely and she had fully intended to give them her undivided attention but her phone began to vibrate profusely in her dress pockets so she just had to see what was going on. After giving it a quick glance over she realize the group chat she had for the Troupe leaders was going haywire due to an emergency. [break][break]

This was awful timing because the members needed to be ready for their performance that was imminent. With an inaudible sigh Vanessa's fingers flew across the screen as she attempted to speedily put out the fires. At least, as much as she could do from here. Her team assured her that she didn't need to come see them in person and that they had it under control, so she trusted that they told the truth.[break][break]

One things were manageable, she noticed that Underboss Elisabeth Fiorelli had already made her departure. With a slight pout Vanessa turned to her boba tea and instead snuck in a flask of her own into the mix. Nothing was better than her two favorite worlds colliding, alcohol and sweets. Vanessa kept her eyes peeled for the performance her members put on, proud to observe them from afar. [break][break]

Something always had to go wrong leading up to a performance but the members always managed to make it through one way or another. After the show and the gift exchange, she was given the perfect gift, cool drinking flasks that were already filled much to her delight. Azure hues twinkled when a newcomer joined the group at the boba bar.[break][break]

She offered a sweet smile in greeting to Aidan Hereford before she was caught up by the kiss cam shenanigans. "Oh," she gasped with a flushed face. "We do shit the organic way, fuck a kiss cam," Vanessa nodded and chuckled in agreement. "Couldn't have said it better myself." she said with a smile. Besides, she was sure that could lead to misunderstandings and she didn't want any with Troy MacQueen. Speaking of, she wondered if he was holding up okay on his own.[break][break]

Victoria blinked for a moment before she had to actively resist the urge to roll her eyes and sigh at Jayden's little 'joke'. Though, knowing him, was it even a joke in the first place? During this whole little reunion between them it seems it's time to exchange gifts. Tori still lingered near her friend, still wanting to remain to catch up. But Victoria was pretty indifferent about the whole gift giving ordeal.[break][break]

It wasn't like she was expecting anything impressive. Hell, her gift wasn't that impressive by normal standards. But as she held the basket in her hands and touched the soft fur of the coat she found herself thinking that this gift was actually pretty good. The coat wasn't the only thing she'd gotten, she also had a free appointment at a tattoo parlor. [break][break]

While she was looking over her things another unknown face approached Jayden, it would seem he was more popular here than he had been back in Kanto. "maki, this is tori. tori, maki." he said in a general and short introduction between the two. Tori nodded, "Nice to meet you." Tori greeted the woman in a more formal and respective manner than normally expected of her. [break][break]

If she was a friend of Jayden then Tori supposed she could afford to offer some common courtesy. A small sign of maturity from her. Jayden asked about what this Maki had received from the gift exchange, meanwhile Tori continued to study her friend pointedly. Once there was a lull in the conversation she'd interject.[break][break]

"It's still hard to get used to." she said with a hand resting against her hip. "It's like you're a different person." she said with a haughty huff. "How have you been?" she asked opting for something simple rather than diving into the nitty gritty details she desired to know. When she was younger she would've just asked without a care but she had changed over the years too. [break][break]

Still, much like her other reunions with friends from Kanto past, Victoria still felt that old ache and sting. After all, no matter how much she missed them it didn't change the fact that she had been abandoned and left alone in Kanto without much of a word from everyone she cared about back then. By now, her grudge had long past but the wound still ached from time to time.

With a response in tow, Troy chimes back. "My first contact into Rocket. Powerful woman." but knowing she owns Casino Starlight has them nod. She said as much before. They just aren't the gambling type.[break][break]

And then Cillian tells him who he is. And for the first time, Troy is on the backfoot. Hesitation is the only thing that seems to have really hit him.[break][break]

But on the inside, Troy is on fire mentally.[break][break]

"Is that right?" he hadn't realized... and now he felt something he hadn't. Borderline sheepish? Pesky embarassment. As he moves to scratch at his cheek, he quickly responds. "M-My apologies." Clearly, he was wasting Underboss Quinn's time and energy. But to his response at Blondie...[break][break]

"My date." There's a toxic possessiveness to his words. Venom seeps from his lips, but not meant for Cillian. It was like a reflexive response to mint frost's kiss cam. He reacts indifferently to the shot of him and Cillian Quinn. The reveal of the ring was all that was needed... but something about @vanessa and ALOE EON irritates him. His left eye twitches.[break][break]

Right... he forgot they could be this way too. Jealous.[break][break]

She could talk to who she wanted. He's not going to ruin her fun.[break][break]

Quickly enough, Underboss Quinn gets their mind off of it, mentioning gifts, and Troy places both gloved hands at their back. "I suppose so." Deciding better than to constantly pester Cillian, he splits off to go ascertain the nature of his own gift.[break][break]

There's a certain joy he feels at the alcohol, but the ship in a bottle, this wonderful little Wingull on it that was cute... it was put together, and was quite a marvel. Whoever did this had all the time in the world. The bottle of wine though... something for the child in her, and something for the adult. "Impeccable taste..." he remarks to whomever was his assigned gifter.[break][break]

He needed some air.[break][break]

Troy decides it's a better option now though, and quickly ducks outside. Needing a bit of air for the moment.

Dropping the bobagate cup without a care in the world, the partial enthusiasm of @vanessa's was accompanied by a shiver down his spine; even within his drunken stupor, he recognized that feeling everywhere, that sensation of being watched from across a room. Miniscule blurriness prosperous within his vision, in all that soul searching his crimson eyes met with the twitching of Troy MacQueen's eventually. Before he could shoot the guy a wave and a grin, though, he was already on his way to being gone. It was a peculiar event, enough to distract him from the white elephant gift that had made his way into his hands for the time being.[break][break]

"Do you know that guy? He was eyeing us a bit," he pointed toward him as he walked off to the exit, a brief chuckle escaping his lips, ".. looked pretty stressed, quite cute though. Is he single?" As he had already drunk quite more than his share, Aloe's focus on the exterior of those around him flourished much more than he normally showcased.. and hell, it was a party, and wild shit went down at all the parties he was used to. Strumming his tattooed fingers through his long ponytail, the smile on his face grew as the blondie invited the nearby stranger to their upcoming gambling fest. Just as unaware of Troy's jealousy as he was the remnants of tapioca meeting the strands of his hair.[break][break]

Eyeing Aidan Hereford up and down, a nod followed the invitation of the ringmaster's. "Hell yeah, come gamble with us! Don't have to front the big dollars if you're more fond of pretty pennies." He encouraged, as more the merrier was indeed one of his definite virtues. The intoxication ran quite deep as hugged the still-wrapped present, definitely in need of someone else to lead the way through all the chatter and endless fashion.

[break][break] before he can say much else on the matter, a rotom cam flies down between them, interrupting conversation. jayden blinks for a moment, unsure of what this strange holiday tradition is, before he can glimpse the other couples in the room interacting with it. some indulge in the kiss cam, like BARNABY FINCH and Elisabeth Fiorelli. others are content to flash the truth, by way of Cillian Quinn.

[break][break] without waiting, the admin crosses the threshold of the room. the kiss cam reminded him of fern delaney and with more urgency than before, he wanted to go see what his partner was up to. but unfortunately, when he arrived at the table, he saw many familiar gazes — but none of them the sea of teal-blue that he was looking for.

[break][break] jayden shifted instead towards the most familiar figure in that space, which ended up being Hitoshi Inoue. he steps behind the samurai, placing a hand gently on the man's head, ruffling it softly.

As Caspian sipped his wine, his legs crossed, he eyed Madeline McKenna as she responded. Shrugging off her passive agressivness Caspian sighed and just sat there. Howard watched Amor Rose saunter off, then looked at Makoto. "I've seen his file. You think he knows I'm older than him?"

Blasted Head Scientist. Howard silently prayed for a stray car to crash into the casino and run him over. Howard's eye flicked over to the Stakataka surveillance brick. Nothing heinous yet. Howard wondered if the League had these same issues, or if the League had a party that was also filled with nutcases, sycophants, and Amor Roses.

He chuckled quietly to himself. Nah. The League was likely full of completely normal people, with minimal corruption.

Meanwhile, a single Stakataka surveillance brick rolled towards Shred to inspect the rare and elusive Meltan. The brick blinked at it.

"We always need more scientists. It's a pleasure. I'm a scientist too, after a sense. Archaeology." Howard said politely. He decided that he liked this Violet Fairbanks fellow. Anyone who hated mint frost and his choice in music had to be somewhat sane. Besides, being on good terms with as many Team Rocket members as possible was important. Networking was the key to success.

"Demeaning my boss is one of the few pleasures left to me. Pardon me. I need to ensure that nobody bought gifts with my own money." Howard clapped Makoto on their shoulder as he stood up and walked off, leaving Tsukiko with Makoto.

This made it all worth it.

Suddenly, Howard's eye was blinded as Mint got his revenge at Howard's quiet shitting on his taste in music with a kiss cam. Howard was going to load that man into a trebuchet and launch him at Ever Grande. All the Rocket Beast did was idiosyncratic nonsense like this, take selfies, and have the worst taste in music known to man.

If Howard Slayte was in a bunker with both Zev Harcourt and Mint Frost with a gun and two bullets, he'd shoot Mint twice.

"I... erm... hm." At least Mint had the decency to pair Howard up with a hottie. The glasses were an extra point. People wanted but they couldn't have, and Howard couldn't properly use glasses with one of his eyes missing. As he glanced at Caspian, Howard's face reddened slightly and he rubbed his temples.

Fuuuuuuuck.

"Let's give him what he wants, so he'll bully the next person. It's been a while since college, but..." Howard put his hand under Caspian's put a hand under Caspian's chin and lifted upwards, his lips brushing with the doctor's.

When howard slayte grasped Caspians chin and their lips brushed Caspian's blush deepened even further. Divinity gave out three hisses in the same pattern of santa's iconic "ho ho ho" laugh. He glared at her. [break][break]
Realizing the small bit of awkward silence between the two Caspian opened his mouth to make a slight bit of small talk. "So how has the party been for you so far?" [break][break] He casually grasped his white elephant gift, realizing he had yet to open it, and peered into the gift. [break][break]

"fine, fine. lycanroc ones are probably out of stock by now anyways." that was what Zev Harcourt liked in terms of pokemon, as far as he knows. he then turns to oscar clayton. "and for ya, i'll even crochet a flame decal one if i have to!." it'll match with his genesect.

his hands were fumbling about the envelope in the mean time, and only after he yapped did he read its contents. he smiles, and looks for Shred in the crowd, but loses him in the sea of people.

maybe he'll just spring the request out of the blue sometime. it's better if it happens when he least expects it anyways.

the search was officially ended when he was handed a glass of whiskey by oscar. he hates the taste of liquor, more so when it's those fancy ones with a high level of alcohol purity. his taste never did evolve from that of a child, but someone like him wouldn't admit to it.

"t-to another splendid year!"

he chugs the rest down the hatch so he doesn't have to taste it. the act burns his throat, and the watery eyes was quickly wiped with the sweater's sleeve when zev asks him a question.

"they're part of the performers we have tonight!" he answers before coughing. he spoke too quick before recovering from the show he made. "i haven't seen their shows. ooh, maybe the organizers know!"

mar grinned at the offer of a brandy alexander. "sounds good. nutmeg'll be interestin." she leaned in as she looked over the various liqueur and plentiful debilitating elements. "probably the most classy thing i've had this year." her amusement was clear. "wonder if next year'll be an improvement... but i know some swashbucklers that make a mean moonshine. put hair on yer chest in an instant."

she meant to spill more about the company she liked to keep -- and man, were they a partying bunch -- but her attention was pulled away at the sight of presents being handed out, the random recipients determined. mar was approached with something unmistakable, as even a child could see a wine bottle from a distance. but, to her delight, closer inspection revealed it to be a galarian cabernet. she'd had little opportunity to try anything in galar besides beer, so she was pleased to see the fancy labelling.

"ah, maybe it has a contender already, at the eleventh hour." she had no intention of mixing wine and brandy, though if her dear bartender had any interest in it, she'd happily open it to breathe and share it between them. any rocket that knew their way around a bar was a friend of hers, no doubt.
