There was only one time, out of the several days that he’d come to visit the little pool place so far, where he’d managed to catch something of value. Sighing, he falls in line again—but this time, he’s ready. A pair of shades rests on the bridge of his nose, and in another hand, there’s a bottle of ramune—he’d managed to skim it from one of the foreign hawkers that were selling their summer wares around the area.[break][break]

Why the hell is there a marble in this thing? He thinks, squinting inside the bottle and trying to see why the fuck that was the case. Either way, he took a few sips and moved along with the line. Eventually, he makes it to the front and grabs a fishing pole.[break][break]

All the better—or worse—to try his luck with, he guesses.[break][break]

Off goes the line into the pool…what’s he going to get?[break][break]

he gets another magikarp, though it wasn't as pretty as the magikarp that the other fishers get. while he doesn't usually care about the appearance of any pokemon besides his dogs, the fact that he's quite unlucky compared to others makes him kinda sad.

no other way around it besides testing his luck multiple times until he gets one that he wants. he casts his line once more.
