Even though Josh was on activity restrictions from his doctor post-surgery, it felt good just to be in the saddle again. Raiden was excited to see Josh, too, the Zebstrika's white stripes rapidly blinking yellow. Absorbing the electric Pokémon's gait was still a little rough on his arm, and by proxy, his shoulder, but a little pain was worth it. It was all part of rehab. His arm was also not done healing; a full recovery would take months. He had to do what he could, though; war would not wait.

"I'm so used to riding Raikiri and my other felines that I kinda forgot what it was like to ride horseback," Josh laughed as he was enjoying a trip around the Gym concourse on his lunch hour, making conversation with Elise Calcifet and one of her Pokémon. Manipulating his reins with one hand was quite the challenge, but it would be one he would need to be adept at that if he wanted to contribute to the war effort. "Once this war breaks out, we'll likely have to scale--"

A loud explosion rocked the Gym grounds, the facility's power flickering. It was a good thing he was riding Raiden and not another one of his Pokémon, for the electric horse was easily able to absorb the THUNDER WAVE-like shockwave headed their way. "The Operations Center!" Josh pointed toward the building at the top of Sector 3.

After the events of being holed up in the penitentiary, Elise was worried about Josh’s current condition since he was injured during the time that everyone tried to help Pon with her sleep deprivation. She holds the reins on her shiny Spectrier while Josh was atop his Zebstrika. War wouldn’t wait for the two of them, she would have to serve as military medic since she wasn’t the most fighty of the leaguers that could serve in the war.[break][break]

“I think I should train more with my own shiny Zeraora. Freyja may be a little difficult to ride if I don’t have much training to ride with her like you do with Raikiri.” She replies to her boss with a nod. While he had been used to riding Raikiri, Elise was used to riding equine and some draconic Pokemon that she loved riding on. [break][break]

But before she could reply to his second remark, the power begins to flicker from the gym’s lights. The spectral mare uses her speed to keep the ambassador safe from the shockwave that comes her way. [break][break]

“I will come along to help as well!” If Josh would make his way to the building in Sector 3, the ambassador who rides atop the ghostly mare would follow after.

The gentle but rapid gallop was about as fast as any of Josh's Pokémon could safely carry him. "We'll have time to talk about that more afterward. If the Operations Center is overflowing that badly, then something serious is going on. How many of your electric Pokémon did you bring, Elise?" he asked the Spectrier's rider. "We might need them to reduce the generator's voltage."

The duo would see the Gym employees on duty fleeing the Operation Center, the first ones to make it out being Josh's stage managers. He reined his Zebstrika around them, feeling his left arm tense up again as the two horse Pokémon zoomed up the hill. "Once we get there, we'll need to make a beeline for the second floor. All the control panels are up there."

They’ll have time to talk about training with their thunder cats when the gym’s electricity wasn’t at stake. “Yes, that will be a conversation we can take when the problem is solved at your gym.” As Josh asks her how many electric type Pokemon she bought to the gym, she replies to the gym leader. “Well, I brought only one electric type Pokemon and she’s my Yamper, so…she should be alright.”[break][break]

She sees the other employees of Josh’s gym get away from the Operation Center. Her mare keeps up with the speed of the Zebstrika though Llamrei is more faster than the average horse Pokemon. “Got it, I’ll bring out my Yamper when we dismount for the trip up to the second floor.”

As fast as Raiden was, Llamrei was simply speedier. With Josh unable to ride mid-Quick Attack with his arm in its current condition, his co-worker would be the first to arrive. "Your Spectrier is so fast," the Gym Leader exhaled, breathing heavily from his arm being put under a lot of pressure. He slid down from the Zebstrika, leaning against him and recovering his strength. Though the ride was slow by his standards, Josh wasn't capable of much faster in his weakened state.

Once the duo had arrived on the second floor, Josh brought out both Raikiri and Zaborg, the Zeraora duo's fur standing on end from the static in the air. "It's... much worse than I thought," he sighed, seeing the electricity readings being well over double capacity. "One of us is going to have to monitor the reading so that we don't overstress the generator in getting it stable again, and the other will have to go down to the generator itself to get the voltage down with our Pokémon. What are you more comfortable with?" he asked Elise, his eyes going back and forth between her and the red numbers on the display. The sound of electrical discharges beneath her, as well as an alarm on her current level, may have hastened her decision-making process...

The speed of the ghostly horse was only matched with the speed of her cousin’s patron, the Black Yin dragon. She had seen the dragon’s strength and speed in a memory of the false ‘Galar’ though the last time that he had brought his legendary Pokemon, that was the first time she met it.[break][break]

“She’s very fast when she wants to be.” She’ll note onto the speed of her ghostly mount when the ambassador dismounts from the mare. Making their way to the second floor, the gym leader explains that there were two options in monitoring the reading or going down to the generator itself to get the voltage in.[break][break]

“I will help with the generator.” Her decision making process wouldn’t be long as long as Elise can deal with the generator’s voltage being urgent. “It’s probably not too much trouble with my Yamper if she can help with generating enough electricity to help with the generator.”

Josh was a bit jealous of the Spectrier. Since riding one with Remiel Calcifet , he wanted one for himself. The speed they could reach within the ethereal was nothing short of sublime, almost like transforming into an Ominous Wind itself.

Though Elise's decision took Josh by surprise, the only hint she would get of his confusion would be a few blinks of the eyes. "Okay, I'll keep an eye on it," he confidently replied, certain she would be able to get the voltage under control. "The generator's on the lower level. Listen for me on the speakers. Take Zaborg with you just in case. And thank you for keeping my injured arm in mind." The Gym Leader tossed Elise the Poké Ball containing Zaborg, the shiny bipedal Zeraora.

Were she to descend the stairs toward the Operations Center's basement, she would find sparks flying from the generator, particularly out of a small hole in one of its corners. It seemed the electrical pressure was so great that a large bolt had already been knocked loose...

Josh mentioned the shiny Zeraora that accompanied him and the princess gives a nod to the gym leader. “Yes, I’ll take Zaborg with me too.” With electricity from one of his thunder cats, it would be enough to get the generator going. Elise takes the Pokeball that Josh gives her and goes down to the lower level where the generator would be. [break][break]

Descending down to the stairs of the basement, the ambassador can hear the sparks coming from the generator itself. “Okay, let’s get to work now.” She presses the button on her Yamper’s Dusk Ball and the corgi comes out to wag her tail. “You too, Zaborg.” And again, the ambassador sends out the shiny white Zeraora from his Pokeball where he stood tall next to her.[break][break]

“We should listen to Josh first.” Elise says to the two electric types when she had to avoid getting a bit close to the sparks that fly out of the hole. That really needed to be fixed up, but Josh knew his gym better than she would in its inner workings.
