“A Thousand years?!” Elinor blurted out. “Surely that is an exaggeration.” She said, but something within her, a sensation perhaps, told her that it was not.

But Elinor wasn’t given much time to ponder the enormity of such a waste amount of time as a Pokémon decided it wasn’t about to be ignored.

Glimmer attacked, sending a spray of Acid toward Elinor. Luckily her bird once again was quick to protect its trainer, nearly crushing the Glimmet beneath a point blank ESPER WING.

But Elinor saved it from such a fate with an empty Pokéball.

With that done, she returned her attention to the woman and replied. “I am afraid I do not know the Legend about Volcarona.”

The next question came as expected. But this time she took a moment to think, to ponder how to word the answer she would give.

“Well, being a champion means being a beacon not only of battling prowess, but of Hope. It means that you are someone the people can put their faith in when times grow dark. It means no matter the dangers, the League can trust that you won’t shy away from helping.”

Elinor took a moment. “Of course, I am under no illusion that ALL Champions will be like that. But it is what I hope they all aspire to be –” She paused

“And how I aspire to be.” she finished off.

And as quickly as it had all begun, the whole situation came to a grinding halt and an all too sudden end.

Both trainer and Noivern waved farewell as their new acquaintance was practically dragged back by whom he proclaimed to be his sister.

Well there was little left to do. But perhaps go have a look at that record store he talked about. And with that, she too would take her leave.

MISSION: BOND-BRIDGE
LOCATION: Rustboro City

She was not surprised when MATIAS SILPH’s name kept coming up. She could say many good things about the man, his skills in battle, his confidence, his willingness to do whatever it took to reach his goals. But these were unfortunately also liabilities. And unfortunately it seemed Josh had taken to Matias’s image without consideration for what it would cost him.

But that was neither here nor there, as her inner pondering made way for her analytical gaze to take in Josh as he kept speaking. Unfortunately giving herself an air of professionalism which might make seem cold to him.

Emotions welling up as Josh’s perception of the world was questioned. Worrisome, but that was why they were here after all.

“Yes, I remember.” She acknowledged and allowed him to continue. That was until he reached the point of confession. At that point a small sigh escaped her.

That doesn’t bode well…

The thought was tiring in and of itself. “Josh, I would like to hear your confession. And I can promise you discretion on my end, your words will not leave this room –” She paused.

“But take my advice. If it is something even one single person outside this room could know about, then be proactive. Take the Taurus by the horns before it comes around to trample you down.”

Elinor faded into the background as she listened to the interaction between Callan and Eris.

Her gaze lingering mostly on Eris. She figured the young girl would feel pressured by the Elite Four’s presence, she only had to figure out how much.

Elinor noticed how the Pokémon’s tail slipped around her arm. But before doing so completely, Elinor saw a glimpse of something strange. Something which clearly wasn’t a scar nor was it anything she had seen before.

Elinor had to ask.

“Sorry to interrupt, but what is that on your arm?”

By now it didn’t come as a surprise that Matias already owned a Clodsire. But it pleased her nonetheless to now have a new Pokémon on her squad.

Lost in thought Matias made an astute observation. It was getting pretty late.

“Yeah let’s do that.” She’d reply back. With a waving gesture she’d call Kommo-o back to her.

But before it could do so, another Pokémon joined the interaction. A Roserade. It seemed meek, weak even. Clearly starving. It asked for handouts but Kommo-o gave it naught but an offer. Join Elinor’s Team and there would be food.

The Roserade accepted.

Welp, that was a change of scenery. Not that she minded. Honestly, being reminded of Team Rocket’s atrocities, new or old was a bit more than she would’ve liked. And so, instead she turned her attention to the options given to her.

She figured picking something that was Kantonian, or at least sounded like it, would be wisest, and so clicked OPTION NR 1 PIQUANT PIAKCHU CURRY

Flirting with other men, even if they were AI’s still felt weird. She had Callan Young and honestly that was just fine for her. So while she’d played along with Frank’s route this time she decided to take a more serious approach.

And so she pressed OPTION NR 1. I need to cure my IBS… If only the game devs had picked a fancier physical ailment.

Elinor gave an acknowledging nod. Hoenn’s people could not be contained, even if they wanted to even attempt the task.

“True, true.” Elinor admitted.

Minccino noticed the lingering gaze, and tried to give a gentle wave in Lars’s direction alongside a cute smile. But it didn’t seem to work.

“That’s what the reports state. I can scarcely believe it myself.” Same sources as before. “Don’t tell me that you are scared of ghosts!?” The slightest hint of a tease in her voice, as she moved to continue their exploration of this place.




MISSION: INTO THE WILDS (Border)
LOCATION: The Border

“Yeah yeah, I am fine. A little cold can't hurt me.” She straightened her back in confidence, but one glance at her Pokémon would reveal why she was left with little to no injuries after that icy explosion.

She was not blind to their condition, but she wasn’t about to let them give in to their own doubts. If she radiated confidence, then surely so would they?

Logic finally reigned in her recklessness and so she did as Lars requested, she stayed behind him as they walked into the Frozen nest.

Though she knew their reasons for coming here were dire, her gaze could not help but wander around taking in the beauty of the icy nest.

The Minccino was quick to pick up on Lars’s distaste for it. Though Mincinno didn't quite understand why he seemed so apprehensive. But Minccino was quick to use that to its own benefit as it ran over to Elinor, requesting to be lifted up and cuddled, to which she responded agreeably.

“Supposedly.” Elinor said. “But the details were sparse as I am sure you already know.”

She eyed her surroundings warily. “Besides, it isn’t the only thing here from what the reports state. Spirits…” She paused almost as if in disbelief.

“And some odd manner of feline creature made of snow and swords for teeth?… Honestly, were it not because that report had been made by Josh Devlin and Johanna Joy of the Mauville and Ever Grande City gyms respectively, I wouldn’t have believed them.” She looked to Lars. "Has the other Rangers been reporting similarly odd creatures?"




MISSION: INTO THE WILDS (Border)

Elinor listened surprisingly intensely to Lars’s tale as they kept trekking up to the trail. No laugh, only genuine interest.

“That sounds rather reckless.” Elinor admitted. She had never thought Lars would do something THAT reckless.

“What happened then? I assume you didn’t just walk up to Articuno and asked to be an avatar?”

Elinor’s Pokémon were far faster at reacting than their trainer. By the time Lars had yelled duck, half of them had already tackled her and covered her in a protective casing of their own bodies. Protecting her from the ice explosion.

None of them allowed her to leave before danger had passed. But when she did, she spared no time in exclaiming. “Well! I guess we got through.” And without further ado she began to hurry toward the entrance.

Her Pokémon rushed along to protect her from her own recklessness.
