Finally a Ranger meeting she didn’t have to teleport to. It was a blessing. But blessings quickly turned into curses as her assistant accidentally double booked.

Which was why when she arrived at the Ranger meeting. She had run over there resulting in her being out of breath, still in her gray business suit, and carrying at least three big backs of a random assortment of menu items (children menu included) from the nearest Junk Food restaurant, because once again food being brought had been requested.

More than once on the way there did the thought cross her. Why didn’t they just order the bloody food themselves…

But as she came into the room not a single sign of that annoyance was to be found on her face, instead she had plastered upon it a professional smile, even through the small hints of tiredness she was experiencing.

She quickly found her way to the table, noticing the already large assortment of food, and wondering why they were supposed to bring something. For a brief moment, the truly observant might notice some annoyance in her gaze. But it quickly faded again as she made her way over to the nearest available spot near Laurence Anderson.

She gave the trio plus Josh Devlin a light greeting wave as she took a place, and prayed nobody would bring pie this time.

TLDR:
- Assistant double books Elinor, resulting in tired and annoyed Elinor arriving.
- Elinor has once again brought too much food, this time from the Local "Insert McDonald's Ripoff"
- She greets the rangers near Laurence Anderson as she takes her spot at the table.

Even Elinor couldn’t explain how it would work. Perhaps they’d start by defining what peace meant in this case. But even with that it was a woefully flimsy wish.

Anyhow. There was little left to teach the Legendary, even Andrea said as much.

“Perhaps you are right. Jirachi did succeed in a single wish. So, let’s take the win and hope for more success later.” Elinor responded with a smile.

Jirachi gave a smile of its own. Pleased that the grueling training was about to finish for now.

“Ah fair point.” Elinor mused. The beating wings of her Hisuian Braviary provided a gentle rhythm to listen to as they joined up with the rest of the group.

And for a moment Elinor considered Alexei’s words. Pondering that perhaps they really ought to clear out, bring the kid to safety and call it a day.

But then she saw something glinting at the edge of the distortion. Something definitely not a part of it, metallic in shine as the sun shone upon it.

“You two can bring her to safety.” She gestured for the girl behind her as she spoke loudly making sure that Alexei and Guillarmo could hear her over the sound of wind and beating wings

"I will go take a look at that." She pointed toward the bit shiny metallic part that had been uncovered at the edge of the distortion.

“Oh I would wish for peace in Hoenn.” Elinor replied.

But not long after the sandwich-man appeared. After a moment of quizzically looking at him, it dawned upon Andrea that he was here at the behest of Jirachia.

Once Andrea freed him from Jirachi’s spell by accepting the sandwich, and giving him a hug. He would be off. Taking the poor substitute for a tip, before the wishmaker could steal his freedom once more.

Elinor watched with bated breath as Andrea would taste the sandwich, giving it a perfect rating.

At this Jirachi smiled and cheerfully let its voice ring out into the heavens. It had succeeded at making a singular wish. But its celebration did not last long as the training montage would continue.

This time Andrea seemed intent on teaching it about different kinds of wishes. It looked surprised as the huge tree that suddenly stood before it. However, it made sure to take notes as Andrea explained the Alolan Exeggutor wish.

Well this was a bit of a peculiar route. At least the start was, which only meant the rest of it would surely be equally weird. But be that as it may. Elinor played the route all the same, taking note of all the weird things that this Macro Cosmos AI knew. But by now that wasn’t even surprising.

Anyhow, choices to make. She scrolled through them and based on what she’d learned about the DRK Triad, she picked OPTION NR. 2 EXTERMINATE

The route continued. Elinor watched. She felt a tightening in her stomach as the next bit came up. All too close to home was this. This was a look into the real Rocket. The Rocket she feared would come if she did not work tirelessly.

Judge, jury and executioner. No proper trial for the innocent man that she was now offered options on how to deal with. Wether the accusations were real or not, mattered little without proper trial.

But that was not the Rocket way. She had to remember that.

And so she pressed OPTION NR. 2 ‘I should execute him’

Aggron placed as gentle a claw on her shoulder as it could.

“But that does make me wonder. Do you think they might’ve found a way to cut the connection one way or both, so to speak?” Elinor didn’t even know if that was possible.

Stomping Through Elisabeth's Backyard (Duo Wild)

“True.” Elinor mused. “Well, I hope that changes.” Elinor stated, but then something caught her eye. A large blob like Pokémon waddled along the ground. She had never seen anything like it before.

“What’s that?!” Enthusiasm in her voice, a bit too much of it perhaps. Before an answer could be given, she had already sprung into action, or rather the Kommo-o had. Lightning crackling around its fist only to hit the Clodsire and do nothing.

Kommo-o looked surprised, and so did Elinor. But Kommo-o was quick to change strategy, going instead for a DRAIN PUNCH which worked way better.

The Clodsire attempted to fight back with Megahorn, but it proved too slow. The barrage of DRAIN PUNCHES that followed made quick work of the Poison/Ground type and so soon enough Elinor would throw a ball.

And then it dawned upon her. Weren’t they supposed to Roll for Paldean Pokémon? She turned to Matias and said. “Oh, sorry. Did you want in on that one?”

Elinor found herself once more in the comfortable chair in her living room game system in hand, a piping hot cup of tea on the table, and the sound of ‘Hoenn’s Next Masterchef’ playing in the background made for some real proper quality time.

Elinor had eyed this Route for a hot minute now, and finally she decided to join it. If the game data was anything to go by, perhaps she could learn a thing or two about this Walsh guy.

And so she reached the first choice of the Route. And Well, she figured she should play into it and therefore clicked OPTION NR. 3 “ Reconnaissance for the glory of Team Rocket!”

Elinor didn’t like the claims Josh was making about the Weather Gym. CIAN MAHER was a Gym Leader, with the skills to defend the title. Cian should be equally capable in a fight against fellow Gym Leaders. But she supposed that just proved Point 2 in Callan’s report.

Luckily her face did not betray her thoughts as she simply listened to Josh speak. She even listened to Josh reread the points before moving onto making assumptions about the League’s view on Team Rocket.

“Do you need to be in such a position to be considerate of your surroundings and how your behavior affects them?” Elinor asked, perhaps a bit pointedly. From what she read it was essentially what the report boiled down to. An incapability to take into account how his behavior affected people’s perception of him.

“It might not be an appointed position, but the League is still putting its stamp of approval upon your success. In essence, the people will view you as a part of the League, official position or not. And so we as an organization need to be conscious about how you, and by extension we will be perceived by the people outside the League.”

She paused.

“Which leads me to Team Rocket.”

She paused again. She wanted to agree with him. She really did. But she couldn’t. She had to quell this behavior before something bad happened like attacking a member of Team Rocket without due cause.

“Josh, that kind of thinking is very dangerous. It isn’t as black and white as you think. A lot of people within Team Rocket are forced to comply with them because of the inadequacy of the League. And if we approach them with the view that they are lost causes, then we will only make the issue worse…”

“Of course there are people within Team Rocket that are criminals, and, I suppose you could call them evil, but they are far from the majority.”

Her gaze steeled. “Remember Josh, we are servants of the public, here to help the people of Hoenn to the best of our ability. That includes helping those who might’ve slipped through the cracks of society.“

The woman was thrown from the Celesteela. With some quick mid-flight adjustments the Hisuian Braviary was quick to position itself. Luckily, Elinor was equally quick to catch the person.

Unfortunately for all parties involved the sudden addition of weight caused the Hisuian Braviary to lose control of its flight path until another Braviary, this time shiny, joined him in correcting its flight.

It made happy Braviary noises as a thank you.

And with Lash on board Elinor and her flying partner would rejoin with Alexei and Guillarmo. While doing so Elinor thought it proper to introduce herself. “The names Elinor, and who are and why were you on that thing?”

A bit of small talk surely wouldn’t hurt.

By now the Celesteela kill-squad had reached their target and begun bombing it to hell and back with their incendiary gas. Luckily it didn’t seem to affect the distortion much.

She took a small bite of the Sandwich, chewing politely upon it as Callan spoke.

Elinor didn’t even feign surprise when Callan brought the heavy subjects. Their relationship status until now had been rather loose in its definition, but it was only a matter of time before their boundaries had to be set more firmly.

“I would be lying if I said I didn’t want more.” Elinor began. “That is not to say that I don’t like what we have right now. It’s just…” She paused pondering her words and what she actually wanted for a moment.

“I won’t stay young forever. At some point I would like to settle down, start a family, have a kid or two.” She seemed thoughtful. “Not now, of course, there is still a lot of work to be done, but in the future.” She said, looking toward Callan.

“Honestly, I can see myself making that family with you.” A tension she hadn’t even noticed left her chest, as if something she had been wanting to say finally got to be said.

“But what about you? What do you want?” This would be the answer she feared to hear. She didn’t know what she would do if Callan said no, and yet some part understood that there was a high chance of that. Callan already had a family, broken as it might be, even had a kid. Why would he want another?
