why is it important?: Lex continues to explore the range of her pokemon's powers. Plus, this was very fun to write with Wanderer! Looking forward to more awesome threads together <3

Killian’s uncertainly does not sprout confidence in her. It seemed the two were still getting use to each other, just as she was getting use to the idea for Deoxys being a permanent resident in this ‘thruple’. Keeping Killian, meant accepting the alien. It’s a learning process for them all.

“Hm, I’m not thrilled about that idea,” she admited, taking a step back from Killian, “I think it seeing me hurt you may lessen its opinion of me,” wasn’t part of this to get it to trust her? Plus, she didn’t want to get rocked by a legendary and flung across the room.

A hand hovered over the sphere on her belt, “Unless you think I’d draw it out quicker?” They’re both flying by the seat of their pants, here.

Killian Decker

Lex’s smile twitches slightly at the rather apathetic look from Lulu Flint. No. She wouldn’t get over it. Between the three Quinn siblings (Cillian Quinn, Lulu Flint, and Rowan Wrynn), they’ve all stabbed her in the back at least once. She’ll never give them that opportunity again. She threads with caution, not naïve to their power and strength, avoiding them whenever possible. She can find a sense of respect for them if she digs down deep, very deep, but that doesn’t mean she has to like them.

Her trust for Rocket wears thin, especially now amongst the rumble of voices and criticisms.

This is all fucking insane.

Put people on a meteor? That’s, what, traveling 1,000 km/hr (probably much faster). By the time it hits the whatever-sphere, it would be on Hoenn in 0.2 seconds. Without the power to slow down time, this seems impossible, dangerous, and reckless.

The Beast stands firmly planted with her arms crossed over her chest, gaze flitting back and forth between the many voices giving their opinion. Her neutral look does falter when mint frost suggests taking Mossdeep. Her frown is telling, of course that messes with a plan to steal data. It would be a strong hold, but that is an important site for the League, a priority. They would never let Rocket stay. The retaliation would likely be strong. It’s closet to Ever Grande, after all. Did everyone forget about the strength it took to take Sootopolis? The League wouldn’t let that happen again.

Amongst the bickering, many seemed to keep forgetting that the Primal Point is meant to be a loss. It’s just a distraction. No matter where they sieged the Primal Point, they aren’t meant to win. It should be a location where it is difficult to defend, and even more difficult for League reinforcements to show up quickly.

“For what it’s worth, I think it will be most difficult for the League to defend and get reinforcements to MOUNT PYRE, giving us more time. However, no matter where we attack will only buy us what . . . a couple minute before they regroup? Surely that’s not enough time for them to mine the meteor,” she motions towards the scientists and volunteers for the positively psychotic plan, “They’ll be expecting something whether it’s us or the Dark Triad. They’ll be ready to flip a switch – fast. Unless . . . you have a way to slow down time, I don’t see the point of such a risk. I can see a benefit of mining the meteor after it hits. Minimal risk, the League accomplishes their goal wiping out an enemy, and that leaves less competition for us. All we have to do is find a way to get there,” If they can figure out how to get to the meteor in time and mine it, they can definitely figure out how to get to Sea!Hoenn, “And if you can’t? The League knows how . . . and we know exactly where to find that information,” The SHADOW GARDEVOIR remains hovered beside the Beast. Instead, she releases a Dusknoir that follows the pointed finger towards the grunt that represents MT. PYRE.

Lex had taken it as a personal success to be as cut off from the inner workings of the scientists in Rocket as much as possible. The further away she stayed from the labs, the better. Blame Lulu Flint for her distaste. Like the true bitch she is, Lex happened to include all scientists in category of ‘untrustworthy’. Sooner or later, she knew it would be unavoidable and she would eventually be summoned to participate in some sort of study. As always, approaches with caution, walking through the Phantom Plane alongside her Shadow Gardevoir.

What the Beast doesn’t expect, is to have been summoned by . . . what? A 12 year old? In Violet’s defense, she did look older than Eris, but it was still insulting.

Once satisfied that this isn’t some sort of trap, Lex suddenly phases back into their reality in front of the table at which Violet sat. Behind the red head, her ghostly shepherd through the Phantom Plane materializes. The Shadow Gardevoir is a terrifying specter. Crimson eyes peer over Lex’s shoulder, burrowing down into Violet’s soul. Their cold, lifeless, absolutely empty. The pokemon’s colors are dull, her stained, white dress tattered and torn, her teeth sharp, and her fingers long and bony like a witch’s from a nightmare.

“Who are you, and what the fuck do you want?” Lex isn’t known for small talk and should her reputation proceed her, Violet would know that.

Lex had been called upon, hired for honed skills and her brawn. To think she use to just blend with the shadows, content on letting other do the heavy lifting. Now, she found herself jealous if she wasn’t a part of the fray. She knew power was addicting but never in her wildest dreams did she think she would be someone who attained it.

She retained the old part of her that preferred the shadows and the comfort their darkness brought. Lex had spent dozens of nights strolling through the ones that eclipsed the abandoned warehouses. Lex knew this place like the back of her hand. This wasn’t her first job here, nor would it be her last.

“I heard someone pissed you off,” Sienna could likely hear the smile in her voice, the excitement that came with their line of work. Lex seems to melt away from the shadow of the looming building and into the soft light of the nearby streetlamps. Each delicate step was less than a whisper against the concrete, “Do you want to teach them a lesson, or make them a lesson?” It’s an important question.

One down, two to go. The Doublade remains in the hand of the Vespiqueen, da dangerous opponent still on the field. They both know beter than the take their eyes off the ghost. The Vespiqueen’s ATTACK ORDER is nothing more than an annoyance to the ghost. He hisses, swatting away drones as quickly as they come. It does make for a good distraction and the Gengar doesn’t notice the Doublade gain an advantage by appearing behind him.

But Lex does, and the shimmer of the STEEL BEAM is enough for her to recall the Gengar back into his pokeball before the attack can makes contact. The attack slams into nothing but the reinforced floor of the training grounds. It was made to withstand such attacks. If it was any other pokemon on the battlefield, Lex would have allowed it to play out until they were either fainted or dead. Smoke is among her best thieves and for him to experience a significant injury would force her to fall behind in her work which wasn’t worth winning a training battle.

The ‘lesson’ had quickly turned into an all-out three on one battle, which certainly made it more exciting. She turns to Isaac as she clips the pokeball back onto her belt, “Did you learn anything?” Lex was a shit teacher so she didn’t expect there be any significant revelations on his part.

DREAM EATER happened to be the Gengar’s saving grace. Without it, he would have been toast against the three pokemon, although two are just the first evolutions of their lines. For young pokemon, they were quite promising assets Lex was impressed, but she wouldn’t allow it to show. She’s a woman of few words and even fewer compliments.

The HYPNOTIC TERRAIN begins to fade, the purple haze seeping out into the rest of the room. With it, the DREAM EATING tendrils retreat, one last pulse stitching together some new wounds from the LIGHT OF RUIN. He’s by no means at 100%, but he’s recovered enough to be a threat against the weakened opponents.

A familiar bright light consumes the shuddering Honedge. Two blades split from a single source as the ghost evolves. A burst of energy from the evolution empowers its teammates. Teamwork makes the dream work, after all, no?

Lex’s eyes narrow, watching the two pokemon with their ‘swords’ carefully, “It’s time to finish this, Smoke,” she growls beneath her breath, no room for errors if they’re meant to succeed.

The Gengar’s own gaze travels between the Vespiqueen and Cubone, carefully studying them and the Doubeblade they wield. His hand flex, clenching at air as he carefully crouched before they lunge.

The X-shaped NIGHTSLASH is difficult to dodge, and the ghost is unsuccessful. He howls in pain as he’s driven back, ectoplasm oozing across his chest and cheeks. Still, the malicious grin remains. As a bone comes hurling his way, the ghost leaps into the air, his hand coming together to manifest a spectral sphere. The SHADOW BALL fires off towards the pokemon Smoke thinks he can dispatch of the quickest: Duster and the Doublade in its clutches.

It’s actually fairly east to impress Lex: Don’t do stupid shit. Unfortunately, Lex didn’t see the value in many things that didn’t benefit her or Killian. There, she considered quite a few things ‘stupid’. Fortunately for Kepler, it’s easy to see the benefit she could obtain from taking care of this meteor: she’d live.

Lex agrees with him until he mentions Lulu Flint. She barks out laughter, shaking her head. Lulu is brilliant, but Lex would never admit it. Hatred runs too deep in her veins, “Lulu Flint is a lot of things,” there’s obvious distaste in her voice, it drip with venom as she waves her Joltik off to DISCAHRGE a Dhelmise floating not far off the path, “Wonderful is definitely not one of them,” Lex is petty, suspicious, and untrusting, “If Lulu is involved, count me out,” she didn’t need to give the woman a reason to permanently dispose of her by willingly entering into some nonsense experiment with space, “That goes for deep sea exploration too,” she points a finger at Kepler, a warning of sorts to keep her name out of whatever crazy plans they happened to be cooking in that lab of theirs.

The Beast may have tossed the pokeball a little too hard towards the fallen Dhelmise, releasing a bit of frustration she has on the subject.

Surprisingly, Lex’s first thought wasn’t “Well, fuck that alien”. Instead, she found herself shrugging, recognizing they had something in common, “Yeah, I get it,” she hated the sub too. Lex had far too many sour memories here to not feel uncomfortable.

Killian slid her hand off his back and tried to comfort her with half-hearted smile. With Killian, she’s a glass-half-full kind of girl so she smiles back.

“Ok . . . good,” she gives Killian and Deoxys some space with a small step back, waiting for them to take the lead when they’re ready.

Reluctantly, Lex accepted the hand to help her to her feet. If she wasn’t lightheaded from spinning through the raging sea, she would have helped herself up. She learned a while ago not to rely on others.

As she lazily attempted to brush the sand off her soaked through pants, she broke the concentration momentarily to quirk a brow at Rowan’s joke. She was obviously not amused, but without a word, she followed Rowan towards the tree line, agreeing with his assessment. Staying vulnerable on the beach likely wasn’t the best idea. She took one last look behind her to see the disappearing silhouette of the Braviary against the dark grey sky.

Rowan draws out a Kabutops to make their journey easier. The unsettling darkness of the forest reminds her of their trip into the tree of life where they were ambushed by Kleavor, and this is fucking Hoenn: Anything can happen. She reaches to her belt to unclip another pokeball. The sphere cracks open to release a Aegislash. The ghostly shield shimmers before phasing into the shadows to travel alongside them, a phantom protector.

In a surprising turn of events, Lex cracks a smile, even letting out a bark of laughter as Rowan changes the subject to something a bit more . . . sensitive.

“That is what you want to talk about?” of all the things he could have brought up.

It’s something she should long be over. After all, she made the decision to send the Gardevoir away with them. It’s the after math that haunted her: being branded a traitor and suffering the consequences of one.

Rowan Wrynn

Lex didn’t expect her bargain to be accepted. It was mostly a joke. He seems smart enough to know that. She uses the term smart loosely considering he was stupid enough to interrupt, “Our lives would have been so much easier if he just fucked off,” she seems to whisper to no one in particular. Greyson likely can’t even hear it.

“Let’s go,” her shadow shimmers briefly before a Gengar erupts from the darkness to leap over the flames. His grin spread wide across his spectral form as he summons an ancient power. The Primal Energy surges around him as he arcs towards the ground. When he connects, psychic energy washes over the terrain towards Greyson and his Delphox like a tidal wave. Those trapped within it will find the heavy weight of sleep irresistible.

In the meantime, a PSYCHIC grabs hold of Lex, lifting her from the flames and TOXIC mote being prepared to keep her trapped.

Make It Double Mission

Smoke uses z-move HYPNOTIC TERRAIN
summons a hypnotic terrain that put those affected to SLEEP. this amplifies the area of effect for the user's DREAM EATER attack. this terrain can only be dispelled by other terrain based z-moves. it lasts three turns.

The tendrils are what mostly keep the Honedge from escaping the terrain. Nothing couldn’t save her partners’ fates at this point. Unless Sectiona had a z-move up her sleeve to disrupt the terrain, it would remain for its full effect. Pity he didn’t try to knock the bug down into it when he had the chance. Oh well, it was more important to immobilize and weaken the ghost which was the Gengar’s biggest threat.

Lex did turn her focus to the Vespiqueen as she prepared a threatening attack. With Isaac’s declaration, Lex expected more than just a Light Of Ruin. She would have been more impressed if it was something super effective against the Gengar. The strange fairy-type attack is still impressive and quite strong, but Smoke’s poison type protects him to a degree. She loses sight of the ghost within the cascade of fae power that consumes him.

When the wake of the light clears, she sees the ghost’s silhouette staggering, his shape reassembling that of a normal Gengar again. He lurks froward, plunging his hands back into the ground, determined to drain every ounce of soul he can from the Cubone and Honedge still under his spell. The tendrils of DREAM EATER spread, stitching together new wounds left by the LIGHT OF RUIN.
