Verdant greens begin to fade into the warm tones of the desert at Route 111, Hoenn's varied environment showing itself in its truest form at places like this one. Resident of Mauville as Mars is (Mauville Hills, naturally), he's familiar with the sight of the route, but it's not often that he finds himself venturing into it like this: on foot and with a Samurott by his side.

The Samurott — Odysseus — is cautious, keeping a close eye on their surroundings. Mars can't blame it, it had definitely grown a little more wary of the world after a distortion had caused it to change, but while the pokémon is cautious, the banker himself seems as calm as ever.

However, Oro is ready, and while he braves the attack and withstands the flames, he does so for the sake of causing THUNDER to fall upon the wild Scorbunny at close range.

Every single time Mars had come to the Ultra Deep Sea thus far, everything that could go wrong, had gone wrong, and it had done so in the most spectacularly horrifying fashion.

Mars holds BARNABY FINCH when he falls into his arms, helping him up just in time to notice how the Nihilego in various stages of development all around them seem to finally grow aware of their presence. Phemonoe's PSYCHIC holds some of the Nihilego back, working in tandem with Xanthos who then strikes them with his DRAGON DARTS. It buys them time, but just as Mars is going to agree with calls to escape, Pasithea's FOREWARNING alerts him of the danger ahead.

A wave breaks into the boiler room, striking against long-dead machinery and drowning the remnants of the Nihilego eggs. Soon to drown them as well.

"Everyone! Back to the rift! NOW!" The Musharna is called back to her Luxury Ball, and reaching for Barnaby just as a wave washes over them, he relies on Xanthos' PHANTOM FORCE for the first time since the dragon had first hatched from its egg. It has been a long time since Mars last needed one of his pokémon to TELEPORT him out of harm's way.

Phemonoe will teleport as well, staying until the end to ensure they all get out of there safely.

If there's a silver lining perhaps that's the fact that they had made new discoveries and that the Dragapult had never let go of the incubator Mars had tasked him to protect. Within it rest two intact Nihilego eggs.

He's certain, but... is he really? Can Mars be faulted for questioning his lover's resolve? For wondering if he's really okay with what he had just been told? Okay with the risk he's now in by simply loving him? Mars is not okay with it. Not at all. This protective need to keep Barnaby safe is fuel of the destructive desires that exist within the underboss.

If only for a second, in the 'blink and you miss it' sort of manner, Mars grimaces at the mention of the thought of potential dangers and disasters that are very likely to act as obstacles in their lives during this coming year. It's only a second, though. Soon his smile returns as if nothing had just happened.

Now, see, a Farigiraf is not a pokémon you just miss. Where the Rotom had barely been noticeable until it started to try to mess with him (and then promptly disappeared into the woods when he smacked it), a Farigiraf is... well... tall. Really tall, at that. And this one in particular stands right by his path.

It probably wont attack, Mars knows as much, and he also already has one of them, but...

But, he's greedy, so Boreas is given a whistled command.

The Braviary is quick to act, circling overhead and soon striking the wild pokémon with brutal power. Their encounter does not take long, and soon enough, Mars finds himself throwing a Luxury Ball.

"Touché. Maybe Meteor Falls is weird even by Hoenn standards." He jokes, although that isn't far from the truth. There's an obvious reason why the League had not placed one of their primal points here, and Mars is glad that had been the case. Then again, all the actual primal point locations now have rifts to other dimensions in them, so maybe those can be considered even weirder...

The sight of the interaction between the Flygon and Xanthos pulls his thoughts away from the conversation for a moment, a smile tugging at his lips when seeing the Dragapult's luminescent markings pulsating as if for the sake of the other dragon's amusement.

When the Bibarel appears, Xanthos trills as if he were a chattering cat, and although Mars does not care much for the species, he indulges his pokémon, clicking his tongue for the dragon to know that its okay to attack. Dreepy shoot out of horns, fearless and fast. DRAGON DARTS.

"It's nice to meet you, Freya." Mars responds to the introduction then, mentally noting on the familiarity of the name. He smiles all the same. "You got yourself a deal."

The Darumaka appears when and where it's expected to appear, and in the same vein, Oro acts as he expects him to act. That being, of course, that the Gholdengo waits for his command to attack.

They seem to come in all forms and have a multitude of different abilities. Is Dialga even a dragon? It's what would make the most sense, especially if his interpretation of the Lake Trio's warnings is to be believed...
