Izzy kind of wanted to throttle whoever had signed him up for this - Ceri Glynn, no doubt. She seemed the kind of evil genius who'd find pleasure in making him want to throw up at some awful, romantic function like this one. He hadn't even kissed anyone!, he thinks to himself, and then is violently reminded of the heated making out he'd shared with BARNABY FINCH not too long ago. That shuts his thoughts up pretty quickly.[break][break]

He's greeted and as much as he wants to :pes_run:, he stands steady and forces himself not to frown. He doesn't smile, either, mind you, but not frowning is as good as one might get. The figure before him is a stranger, but familiar in a... weird way. Has this guy, like, served him in a shop before or something? It was that weird kind of "I've seen this guy before" that tugged at him, but Izzy shrugged it off. It was probably just anxiety making him overthink again.[break][break]

Izzy awkwardly follows him to the seat. "Right, yeah, uh-- same. I'm Izzy. Nice to... meet you too"[break][break]

If Izzy knew what mon chou meant, he might have taken Barnaby's eclairs and then shooed him out of the apartment with flushed cheeks, but luckily, he didn't - and so Bee was allowed to stay. For now.[break][break]

Izzy finishes cleaning up the smashed plates and stands back up with a groan and heads back over to Bee's side, looking back up at him and noticing his smile having faded. He follows the taller man's gaze around his flat and feels an uncomfortable hotness building in his gut - it really does look like shit in here.[break][break]

"I... It's... well... I don't get a lot of time out of Rocket stuff, and I don't like to throw stuff out in case I need it later and can't afford it, and... uh..." He clears his throat awkwardly as Myszko, across the room, licks the remains of something out of the bottom of a cereal bowl.[break][break]

"...It's usually not this bad, but..."[break][break]

Izzy feels so embarrassed at being seen like this, and the shame only strikes hotter when he remembers how Barnaby's place looked - beautiful, spick and span, delicately furnished like it was designed to be shown off. Not some squatter's place like this.[break][break]

"Yeah. No, you're right, it's... pretty shitty, huh? I keep meaning to tidy but I just... I get busy, and stuff. Sorry, you don't have to stay."[break][break]

He looks up at his fellow grunt once more, an apology in his eyes. Barnaby surely wouldn't want much to do with him after this, right?

It was good that Barnaby had said something, or Izzy might have freaked out that some weirdo was trying to get in.[break][break]

Instead, he was freaking out that Barnaby was trying to get in.[break][break]

"Oh, fuck, Mysz - get rid of some of those fuckin... ramen. And the empty bottles!"[break][break]

Dutifully (for once), the little lizard scurries off, plucking up an empty noodle cup or plastic bottle in his mouth, depositing it in an equally-messy pile in the kitchenette, and running back to pick up another. As he did so, Izzy hobbled to the door with a little "Coming--"[break][break]

He opens the door and looks up at the fellow rocket grunt himself - Bee. Stood there like he always is, looking so confident, smiley and handsome. What was that last thing? Izzy shook his head for a millisecond to try and knock stupid thoughts out of his brain, and stood strong in the doorway.[break][break]

"Oh... right, you... brought food? That's nice. Uh- how's it going? It's..." The worry dissipates and for that moment, he lets himself half-smile. "It's nice to s--"[break][break]

Crash![break][break]

If he hadn't been used to Myszko knocking shit over by now, Izzy might have turned around and gasped, but instead the smile faded and he stared dead-ahead with a look that screamed I'm actually going to strangle that lizard.[break][break]

He steps back, offering a little "Come in, sorry about all the mess..." before turning to the kitchenette and sighing at two smashed plates on the floor, from a pile of dirty dishes by the side of the sink. He winces and bends down awkwardly to pick up the larger pieces.

He almost instinctively rolled his eyes as she narrowed her eyes and strengthened her tone a little, it was so motherly, and Izzy still so very teenaager-y. But alas, being - arguably - an adult meant that Izzy had to take these kinds of things, sometimes, and he also didn't really enjoy disappointing people. Either way, it might be nice to take some time out and some weight off of his side.[break][break]

Elisabeth started brewing the tea before he'd even had a chance to say yes. Between that and the fact that she was the only one of the two of them who could actually open the door, he was stuck here. He said stuck mostly because Izzy didn't want to admit that sitting down for tea sounded kind of nice, honestly.[break][break]

"Right, well... I mean, if it's good for fractures, then... sure"[break][break]

He takes a seat, and Lawenda dutifully sits on the floor beside him. Izzy didn't want to imagine the kind of mess Myszko might have made if he'd chosen to take him here today instead.[break][break]

"It's okay, I..." He starts to refuse, to say no thank you, but stops himself and gives a shy nod. "Alright, I'll take some, but, only if you're sure. I'm pretty used to healing up by myself. Living alone and all that, y'know? Plus... business stuff gets you hurt a lot" It wasn't exactly unknown that rocket caused trouble and thusly had trouble thrown back at them, especially, he imagined, not to someone like Elisabeth. Her part to play was a relatively active one, even behind the scenes as she was.[break][break]

As she startles from the heat of the spout, he startles in kind, looking over to her. "All good?"[break][break]

The tea's ready, and she smiles like nothing had happened. Izzy returns his gaze to the pretty little table he's sat at, then back to her.[break][break]

"You really don't have to do all this, y'know. It's nice of you, but..."

He nodded and waited patiently as she locked the door and then disappeared off to get what she needed to get. He watched the two grass types in amusement, Lawenda curiously sniffing at yummy foliage and the poor Bellossom trying her best to keep the little sap-sipper away from the goods. Taking a moment to smirk at the two, Izzy heads over and shoos his Deerling from the products being sold, much to the relief of Elisabeth's little pokémon.[break][break]

While she's gone, Izzy thinks about her offer of tea - it seems like the kind of thing someone like him didn't deserve. He's still pondering when she returns, and Izzy looks back up, his hand down by his side to keep his fingers scritching in Lawenda's soft, short fur.[break][break]

"Thanks" He moves to take the bouquet from her, and as he does so he looks at her quizzically. You're hurt. Was it really so obvious? He sighed, shifted his weight a little to be more comfortable.[break][break]

"Ah- yeah. Nothing crazy, I have some broken ribs." A little shrug, like it's no big thing. "I still have to work, and my rent'll get behind if I'm not at least doing something, y'know?" Lawenda nuzzles against his hand as he speaks.[break][break]

"Don't worry about the tea, I don't wanna be in the way or anything"

Mars opens the door and stares down at him, driving images of circling vultures and sharks into Izzy's mind. He's tempted to look away, but he knows well enough that an admin's office on the sub is one of the worst places to become submissive.[break][break]

"Yes, sir. I was wondering if I could run an idea by you"[break][break]

The moment Izzy most often remembered when he thought of Mars was the skill with which he commanded the Rapidash on their decline of Mt. Pyre, like it was the easiest thing in the world. If you'd have asked Izzy to ride a horse down a mountain, both him and the hose would probably have to be put down afterwards. But for Mars? Just another day, easy as breathing.[break][break]

When he'd realised the kinds of legends that carrots planted in ghostly areas had around them, it was oh-so-natural that his mind had thought of Mars. Izzy wasn't the kind of person who should own majestic beasts or living legends. But admin del Mar? He was something of a living legend himself, no?

At the other person's matched frustration, Izzy nearly snapped again, a shouting match building up in his gut and anger forming a hot ball in his throat. But then he thinks for a moment - if they were really pulling his leg, why would they be so mad, too?[break][break]

He groans, pushing a clump of his bangs from his forehead. One long, drawn-out, deep breath.[break][break]

"I'm a fucking mechanic, dipshit. I don't fix... birds!" The frustration threatens to rise further again, but Izzy steadily tries to keep a hold on it, keeping each sentence steady so as to not start throwing hands right here.[break][break]

"I thought. You were calling. About a bike." Izzy stares at the stranger through the heatwaves of the desert route. "...But... ugh. I can try and help. I don't know too much about flying types, though..." He grumbles.[break][break]

He looks at her for a second, his head tilted slightly. "I dunno, you seem pretty smart to me. Most people barely speak one language" It's said with an invisible smirk. "I getcha. Yeah... no worries. I can help out, and stuff, if y'want. I mean if it's just as easy as talking, why not, right?" Izzy shrugs, his head ?!?!-ing at him. He sounds so confident as he says it, like he talks to people all the time. Maybe it's the way Luka conducts herself that makes a conversation seem not so daunting.[break][break]

After helping her up, he can't help but blush a little at her whole want to get to know you better thing. Was she... flirting with him? He didn't want to over-examine the whole thing and think she was saying something she wasn't, but also, what if she was saying that and he didn't realise? Ugh.[break][break]

"Nah, you're fine, it's... sure. We can... do that."[break][break]

He takes the watering can and waters the little baby carrots growing beneath the soil while Anise watches him prison-warden style. He hands the can back and offers her, hesitantly, an awkward semi-smile.[break][break]

"Here-" He hands Luka his phone from his pocket for her to put her number in, and when it's done he pockets it once more. "I'll text you. And, uh, thanks for the gardening help" As he says that, he bends a little and gives Anise a gentle, rewarding pat on the head.[break][break]

Since a few of his ribs had been turned into spaghetti by that damn Arcanine, Izzy had been relegated to quieter jobs. Things that didn't rely on jumping and running around, and things with very little risk to cracking the rest of his good bones. It was a little boring, but ultimately it was nice. Gave him more time to spend not stressing about the darker sides of work, for starters.[break][break]

Today's quiet job, however, was very deeply connected to the darker side of his work. He knew of the second life of the florist and her connections with rocket, even collected things from her before, very briefly. It was a dirty, nasty side of rocket that too many didn't realise. So many kids playing as criminals, not enough people realising that it meant people like him had to take the brain-fuckery of actually killing someone.[break][break]

He pushed through the door with the tinkling of the bell, and as always felt a certain kind of brightness at the woodland cottage's aesthetics. It was the kind of place he was completely unaccustomed to, after the dingy streets of Castelia had raised him in grime and half-lit back alleys.[break][break]

"Morning" He says as he heads in, walking just a little awkwardly at the aching in his side. "Yeah, I'm picking up an arrangement"[break][break]

Lawenda trots at his side briefly, but the little deerling finds interest in some flowers and heads off to sniff at them instead.[break][break]

"Pft" Izzy nearly laughs at Wolfgang's idea. "What, just throw 'em over?" It seems a little mean, sure, but these bunnies were annoying and technically the job didn't say that they couldn't just deposit the critters elsewhere...[break][break]

He watches the Typhlosion attempt a cuddle and be pushed away, watches Wolfgang closely for a sec. He wasn't joking? Well, fine, then. With the Bunnelby secured and Wira gleefully gripping them at his side, he shrugs and wanders for the small copse towards Oldale-way.[break][break]

"How long before someone from Oldale posts the exact same job about getting rid of these damn rabbits, huh?"

Izzy was no stranger to a raised eyebrow and a long stare as a response - he was a talented practitioner of the move himself. But coming from someone like Percy it felt a whole lot different, way more judgemental. I mean, it definitely was judgemental, but it actually felt it, too. Most people made an effort to mask that kinda thing.[break][break]

"Just asking" He shrugs. "I come here a lot too and haven't bumped into you before, so, y'know, I was just... yeah"[break][break]

As his gaze moves away from the taller man, Izzy catches glimpse of the shy little Sableye behind his new acquaintance. Like a child hidden behind their parent clutching at their trouser leg, the little darkness pokémon stared with interest and then waved. Izzy watched the little guy for a while, before raising a hand and waving right back.[break][break]

"Cute little guy" Izzy remarks, nodding in gesture towards the Sableye. "...Always had a soft spot for ghost types"

Izzy raises a brow when she alerts him that she's planning on capturing it. It wasn't as if Snorlaxes were the easiest thing in the world to get locked into a pokéball, but if she wanted to try, he wasn't gonna stop her.[break][break]

"Alright, well... good luck"[break][break]

If it came across sarcastic, it wasn't how he intended it. In the meantime, he pops some pizzas down anyway in case the caching doesn't work, and also just to keep himself entertained. Dotting one down by the path, and then another just a little ways away from that. Once the giant, hungry pokemon got the smell of one, following the rest should be no problem.[break][break]

The Snorlax sure enough does shift a little in it's sleep, it's nose twitching as the garlic gust greets it's nostrils. Not quite awake just yet, it's body rolls jus slightly to the side.[break][break]

As she lowered her body and her voice to act all spooky, Izzy raised a brow. In all honesty, he almost laughed, meeting her eepy-creepiness with a puff of air from his nose, the kind of "laugh" you'd do at a twitter post you scroll past at 3am.[break][break]

"Right... I mean, I guess that'd be cool. As long as you don't get scared"[break][break]

It sounded a little mean, but the intent was a joke more so than anything else. Izzy begins to wander down a corridor, looking back at her for a sec.[break][break]

"Come on, let's see if we can find anything weird. If it's an actual, actual ghost, maybe we can exorcise it or something."[break][break]
