Pace smiles into the handshake, then lets Calem's hand go and rests his elbows on the table, leaning forward slightly with interest. Shepset flaps her way down to the floor and rests comfortably on top of Pace's shoes.[break][break]

"Y'know, same here, actually" It wasn't exactly a lie - Pace was always looking for a partner, after all, the difference was that his partners lasted a night or two, and other people generally meant a relationship.[break][break]

"Not to be too forward or anything, but I'd say you're one of the best looking people here tonight." He laughs gently, a soft sound amongst the chatter of other tables around them.

With two dates down and two numbers given out, Pace was ready to make it three for three. After the dinging of the bell he makes his way over to his next table with his Pidove under one arm like a football.[break][break]

He makes his way to the table where the bright red hair of his date awaits, taking a seat opposite. Straight away he holds his hand out.[break][break]

"Hey - I'm Pace. Nice to meet you" He beams that bright smile and isn't particularly shy on letting his eyes soak up the view. He hadn't seen so many hot people in one space since, uh... well, Pace didn't exactly have high standards, so he saw hot people pretty much everywhere. But still![break][break]

"What brings you to the whole speed dating thing, then?"

Pace laughs right back - sounds like a competition. Though to him, almost everything sounded like a competition. And if it involved proving that he loved birds more than someone else? The gloves were off.[break][break]

He raises his brow at Lars during the choke and silence, leaning forward a little and touching Lars' arm gently. "You okay?" Pace, as always, adores any opportunity for physical touch. "Guess I should be calling you boss, then, huh?" He smiles.[break][break]

Before he can say anything else, he remembers just how quickly the bell is creeping up on them. "You know, this might be a little blunt, but - I'd say you're one of the best looking people here tonight."[break][break]

Ding![break][break]

He beams, pulls out a piece of paper and scribbles his number down, sliding it across the table past Shepset to Lars.[break][break]

"Here. If you ever need anything. See y'around, boss"[break][break]

Just like that, off he goes.

As the figure approaches, Pace stands and offers both a warm smile and a hearty handshake.
"Nice to meet you, I'm Pace. I hope you've been having fun tonight? Pretty crazy atmosphere, all of this, huh?" He gestures around to the miles of lace and prettiness that's been draped over everything.

Pace had no problem with those who fished for compliments - compliments were nice. Sometimes it came from a place of self-consciousness, a required need to be told how wonderful they are when they don't believe it themselves. But other times it came from those who were well aware of their worth, their looks.[break][break]

Mars seemed to be the latter, which only made him far more attractive. Confidence, even over-confidence, was a turn on. It'd be pretty hypocritical of Pace to dislike arrogance, right?[break][break]

He grins at Pace's tease, which prompts a deeper smile back at him. Mars holds power in this situation, dangles it over him, and Pace can feel it - he smells it on the air like prey sensing a predator upwind. But it was exciting, let his blood rush. He takes the glass and sips it, savouring the flavour beyond the wine.[break][break]

"Mars. Beautiful name. Fits you like a glove." He swirls the glass gently as though he's acting the part of someone who drinks wine regularly. "I'm Pace. Most people call me... Pace"[break][break]

It's so stupid he can't help but laugh as he hands the glass back, then narrows his eyes a little in a content smile.[break][break]
