Bewear and Stufful were supposedly dangerous. But in a world where your neighbor's housepet could burn down a house, could it be much worse than the average Pokemon? Rally didn't think so.

He and his Haunter, Nova, glanced at a sleeping stufful from behind a bush. It was like a stuffed toy, complete with a... tag coming out of its rear? What? These non-Unovan Pokemon were so weird. But he was more than willing to add them to his collection. And maybe he could make merch based on the little guy.

With a PokeBall in hand, the man slowly rose from the bushes and approached the teddy bear.

Yeah, Rally didn't trust this man. Most people didn't hunt for Pokemon dressed like that. He readied his Balyot's PokeBall, in case this would get ugly. And speaking of ugly, a Gardevoir appeared with some strange, hideous abomination suspended in the air. Rally kept an eye on the man, to see if his PokeBall would catch the Pokemon. If he simply carried it around, then he was likely carrying a stolen Pokemon that couldn't be caught.

But where there's beastly, there's beauty. From the rustling of the trees above, a Sentret appeared. It jumped from the branches, bounced off the strange man's head, and lunged at Nova.

Was it attacking? Not exactly. Instead, the Pokemon happily clung to the Pokemon. Its body was weighed down until it touched the grass. The Sentret rested its belly on the Pokemon and rolled around, happily enjoying its new "toy."

Now, it felt like weeks since Rally last caught a Pokemon. And he didn't want to break his attention on the man, since he was clearly suspicious. So he dug into his pocket, pulled an empty PokeBall, and flicked his wrist backwards. He'd hopefully catch the Sentret and keep it out of the pervert's hands.

He'd been sick for the past couple of weeks, recovering from a cold he got after a rendezvous in the pool. But now that he was feeling better, it was time for Rally to stretch his legs and get in on the action.

With all the Spinarak and Ariados running around, Rally was looking to catch something. Neither species were found in his home region, so they were really unique to him. He had to be very careful not to...

Actually, careful is boring. Time to run in, screaming and throwing PokeBalls.

Many good offers on the table, especially the part about the warship. But also, catching Water Pokemon. However, the mention of a date had Rally wheeling back down to Earth. 

"It's not a date," Rally told the man. "What we're doing is having fun. Don't make it weird."

Harsh, but there you go. He had to cover his bases here, for obvious reasons. However, he did end this by bringing a slice of pizza to Spyro's lips.

Rally crossed his arms. "He is, yes."

The man simply brushed off the Gastly's goo. Quite strange, and another reason to find the man suspicious. Rally raised his arm, ready to call forth another Pokemon in case this turned into a battle.

Something was poking his side. While Nova kept staring down the man, Rally looked from the corner of his eyes to see whatever was interrupting him. A Girafarig was nudging its head against him. It let out a soft coo as it pressed its head against him. The Pokemon smiled, before sticking its face into his pants pocket.

Rally pushed the Pokemon back, then turned to the man. "Is this yours? Did you train it to be like this? It's almost as weird as you are."

The Girafarig stuck its face in his jeans pocket. Rally kept on pushing the Pokemon back.

"Dude, calm your stupid Persian down...!"

However, he felt the force of a Confusion knock him to the ground, spilling the contents of his pockets - several PokeBalls, coins, Berries and bills - on the ground. Girafarig beelined towards one of the Balls and tapped it. It was instantly sucked inside.

The Pokemon was captured! Rally lifted the Nidoran's PokeBall and examined the Ball. He considered letting it out to check on it, but maybe it would have been best to heal it first. He didn't want to risk getting poisoned... But then again, the Pokemon was hurt. A little sickness was worth helping it.

But before he could release the Pokemon, he felt something sharp hit the back of his head. He fell to the ground and looked up to see that a Fletchling had appeared. An the Pokemon immediately dove down to attack him once again. Rally covered his face with his arms, and they took the brunt of the Pokemon's vicious attacks.

Ever the Loyal Pokemon, Nova intervened. For his first act, he opened his mouth and swallowed the bird whole. Unfortunately, being a ghost meant that he had intangibility issues, especially when dealing with Normal types; the bird Pokemon simply fazed through his body and went back to attacking Rally.

Next up: Dark Pulse. Before the Pokemon reached Rally, a dark, eerie blast hit the bird. The Pokemon was sent flying a few feet and was forced to land on the nearby stump.

This gave Rally a chance to stand on his feet and get ready for the next attack. Rally pulled a hand down to his pants and grabbed a PokeBall. Just before the Pokemon could reach his face again, he pulled the ball upward. The Fletchling's beak hit the button on the PokeBall, forcing it open. The little bird was immediately sucked inside.

Rally put a hand to his chin. "Actually, a shipwreck sounds pretty cool. And it could be a good place to find Water or Ghost types."

Once again, he failed to catch on to the hints Spyro was dropping; he was too busy imagining underwater adventures. Would they find, like, waterlogged corpses? He always imagined there would be a ton of those around Hoenn; Hoenn gave off this vibe that its waters were filled with dead bodies. He didn't know why, but they did.

Spyro said something about panties, but Rally was too busy thinking about the corpses to think about a proper answer. So, he just went with whatever he had in his head. "Yeah, I have a pair. Go ahead and borrow them. Have you ever found something really messed up in the ocean before?"

If they found treasure, would that be looting from the dead? Or does that not apply if they aren't touching it? Now Rally's own hand was rimming the table, and it found its way on top of Spyro's.

Rally always wanted a Munchlax. It was something cute and rare, but it had less of a finance-destroying appetite than a Snorlax. And since they were already asleep, it would be easy to ca-

Someone was playing a POKEFLUTE nearby. Panicking, he and his Gastly ran behind the nearest tree. Perhaps they'd need to go at this with stealth, observing from a distance in case any of these Pokemon turned out to be dangerous.

First of all, it was thirty-eight minutes. Second, Spyro's explanation quickly brought to light the major holes in Rally's blackmail plan: if Rally revealed their affair, it would reveal their affair. In retrospect, it should have been obvious. But you don't think of these things in the heat of the moment. And there was a lot of heat.

But then again, this might have been a blessing in disguise. As he sat down with the man and bit into Spyro's crust, his mind was already wracked with new ideas. It was a multi-step plan:

1. Keep up the affair.
2. Film or take pictures of the affair.
3. If Spyro tries to out him, he leaks the pictures. No one would believe Spyro's side because he wouldn't have the evidence.

Of course, this strategem would require him to gain Spyro's trust. That meant several weeks, or even months of playing the part. For starters, he'd have to invite him out and learn more about him. A trip to the oceanic museum seemed like a good place to meet, given Spyro's affinity for Water types.

Yes, this could work out nicely.

"I'll teach you the recipe," Rally told him. "But only if you take me to that museum in Slateport sometime. And you'll need to get yourself a speedo, for the next time you come over to swim. I don't want my Pokemon seeing anything."

Also, Nova was still trying to force-feed Psyduck.

...The hell was a wasp?

Before Rally could answer the loser's questions, the sound of squawking could be heard. A Farfetch'd suddenly appeared before them, swinging its leak. The trainer summoned a Jolteon to fight it, and the two clashed.

Rally could have helped, or at least watched and supported from the sidelines. But at the same time, the angry bird's cries startled another Pokemon. A Leavanny jumped from the tallest grass behind them. It ran, panicking and waving its scythe-arms, away from the battle.

Rally's first thought was that, hey, he could catch this Pokemon. He looked to his Gastly, who was already on its way toward the Pokemon. It shouted out loud, "Ga-ga-ga-gas!!" before firing off a Shadow Ball.

The Leavanny was struck in the face, sending it stumbling back a good foot. Its attention turned on the Gastly, a mix of nervousness and anxiousness in its eyes. The Pokemon raised its arms, and a storm of leaves flew forward to strike down the Pokemon.

Nova fainted! Which made sense, given how the Pokemon was a low-level Gastly that was facing down a fully-evolved Pokemon. The biggest downside was, Rally only had an untrained Baltoy left.

This wasn't good.
