Sonya nodded to Piccolo’s question, only to solidify what she said earlier. What’s more, is that the female Oshawott definitely opened up more and more as the two pokemon exchanged words with one another. She had begun to notice it, and normally, Sonya would normally decompress, but between her and Piccolo, it was … different. Maybe it was because she realized that Piccolo wasn’t mean, nor did the dragon pokemon seem to be the type to dismiss her. The kindness that Piccolo had was genuine.

After they talked about Piccolo eventually being able to fly, She turned her back to Sonya, waddling over to her as if wanting to hop on her back. “A-Are you sure this is a good idea?” Sonya asked, despite not hesitating to gently hop on Piccolo’s back, making sure that she wasn’t going to hurt her as she sat down. She also wondered if Piccolo would even be able to fly on her back. “I just hope I won’t regret this later …” Sonya thought to herself, also realizing that she herself had never flown on top of flying pokemon before.

Sonya gathered that Piccolo’s master, despite the fact she seemed more outgoing than Elaina was, seemed to be like her in certain aspects. She sounded like a really nice person; the same goes for the other pokemon that Piccolo was talking about as well. Sonya continued to sit there, engrossed in the dragon talking about her master. “You mean like a pair of Reigns? It’s what humans use to help steer pokemon that they can ride,” Sonya had said. “My master likes to read a lot. She even read me a bedtime story about a Mudsdale and the person who would ride on it a lot,” Sonya said, referring to how she knew what they were.

Sonya didn’t really care much about the informational material that Elaina would read frequently, but she did like it whenever she would read her a bedtime story - mostly fictional stuff. “Maybe when you get really big and strong, your master will ride you a lot too, just like your brothers and sisters!” Sonya said happily as if she knew it would happen.

Elaina held her smile, seeing that Melody appeared to be a really nice person. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, Melody.” She said, offering her an extended hand. Elaina wasn’t very much of a hugger, but she did like to give out handshakes when meeting someone for the first time. After the greetings between them both were established, Melody asked Elaina if she knew where they were going exactly. “Unfortunately, I’ve never been to these woods,” Elaina admitted, taking a brief moment to examine their surroundings.

“However, I do know where Budew can be found, generally speaking of course. They like to be near sources of fresh water, like ponds or lakes. If there’s a pond somewhere in these woods, then I’m willing to bet that is where we’ll find them,” Elaina had said confidently. Even though she wasn’t a scientist or a pokemon professor, she liked reading about certain pokemon, mainly ghost types, however, there would be instances where she’d gain insight on other types of pokemon every once in a blue moon, and Budew just so happened to be one of them.

Elaina had Shalin calling, which prompted Queen Zill to meet with her master, Elaina not even having to say anything. As she descended back to the ground, however, Elaina noticed that her ears were ringing rather. It was painful, but it was slightly irritating. As Elaina hopped off of the beedrill, Shalin handed her a pair of earplugs, explaining to her that it was rather dangerous riding on a Beedrill without earplugs, which made Elaina immediately piece together why her ears were ringing. "Thanks. Now that you mention it, my ears were ringing as we were descending. I seem to be okay though. Just a mild irritation," Elaina had reassured while putting in the earplugs that had been given to her.

After a good adjustment here and there, Elaina removed her hands away from her ears. "Alright, now I think I can continue flying without my ears ringing," She smiled. Despite having the earplugs, she was able to hear Shalin. "You ready to do some more flying? It's actually pretty fun! The adrenaline rush is kind of amazing," Elaina had said. It was pretty obvious that it was the first time ever flying on an actual pokemon before. Normally, she'd fly by means of a flying taxi.

"It really was pretty loud, especially whenever a team scored. People would practically jump out of their seats, either shouting in excitement or anger. It just depended on the situation really. My father also did that quite a lot too. I even saw someone knocking a drink out of someone's hand right onto their lap. Spilled all over them," Elaina had said, remembering the incident quite vividly. In a way, it was funny, but it was also really bad. As the two of them, Komainu the Houndoom once again, showed that wanted his trainer to once again pick up the pace. Elaina chuckled at the little exchange, thinking that was cute.

As Elaina and Josh continued to talk, about a good fifteen minutes later, Reality kicked in. Elaina's phone rang, which caused a small silence between the two of them. Elaina, quickly pulled out her phone, seeing that she had an email. She looked at her email, reading it. It was about an assignment. "Well, duty calls. They're assigning me jobs despite me not being fully stationed yet. I better get going. It was nice meeting you, Josh! The same goes for your pokemon!" She said, as she called back Spiritomb back into his Pokeball, politely heading towards her next destination. She was really glad to have met a fellow ranger, especially where she lives. She also thought to herself, "Perhaps one day, I will challenge his gym. For now, though, I'll settle for just working," She thought to herself.

Elaina held her smile before Izumi spoke to her once more. She had asked her about Ira, which Elaina happily indulged her female companion. "Well, it's actually the evolved form of a Primape. Ya see Primapes are prone to spouts of rage quite frequently, however, that rage builds up to the point where it, quite literally, kills them. However, they don't stay dead. In fact, their death sparks the evolution process, turning them into an Annihilape. It keeps its fighting type, but also gains the ghost type when it evolves," She explains to Izumi. Most people who are told this would probably find the subject ... morbid, if not terrifying, however, Elaina actually found it intriguing. "You know the phrase 'what doesn't kill you makes you stronger'? Well, in terms of a Primeape's evolution, it actually the exact opposite. It's what kills them that makes them stronger," Elaina said, hoping that she didn't sound like she was giving Izumi some kind of lesson. That was just how Elaina liked to explain things.

While Elaina and Izumi were still outside, Ira and Sonya started to scour the rooms, keeping the enraged flames at bay with Sonya's aqua jet, while Ira did the searching for anyone trapped. They had already searched two rooms thoroughly, but there were no signs indicating that there was anyone in them. However, when they reached the third, room, both Ira and Sonya heard coughing from behind a door with burnt pieces of the ceiling blocking the way. Sonya made quick work of the flames on the burning obstacle, which made Ira proceed with moving out of the way for them to get through. Once they were inside, Ira and Sonya gestured to them, wanting them to follow them back out to safety.

Izumi spoke the truth. Despite her Sonya not being experienced, it was still helpful - small or big. Help was help, and Elaina was grateful to her that she said that. What's more, is that Elaina did manage to hold back the watchers as they looked in either shock or horror as the apartment complex was burning. Elaina took note of Izumi's name and also chuckled at her later comment. "Likewise," she said. Elaina did not keep the chipper mood for long as she saw a child running out onto the balcony. "HELP ME, PLEASE!" the child screamed, begging for someone to help him. Elaina also saw a woman and a man coming from out of the crowd, and from their reaction, that was their child. Without even thinking, Elaina pulled out another Pokeball, tossing it out in front of her, bringing out Ira, her Annihilape. "Ira, save the child, Quickly!" Elaina had said, not even a moment sooner, Ira used all of its strength, to jump up, quickly making its way to the balcony. The Annihilape gently grabbed the little boy, then proceeded to jump down before flames erupted outward onto the balcony.

"Oh, my sweet boy, Are you okay!?" the mother cried out, tears falling down her face, holding the little boy and not daring to let go. A minute or two later, the mother, grabbed Elaina's hand and said, "Thank you for saving my son! I wouldn't know what I'd do without him," She exclaimed, unable to stop crying. "It's my job ma'am, and I'd do anything to save someone's life," She smiled, bringing her other hand, accepting the woman's undying gratitude. She gently guided the family back towards the crowd just as Oshawott, began to dowse the very same balcony before it was completely destroyed by the flames. It was charred mostly, but as long as it could be fully repaired, it would more than likely become good as new. "Ira! Sonya! I need you to go inside! There could still be people trapped!" Elaina had called out to them. Sonya stopped her aqua jet for a moment, safely land on Ira's right shoulder, and then as soon they were together, they made their way towards the second balcony, rushing inside. Oshawott used her aqua jet, being able to clear a path for Ira, while he used Bulk-Up to endure the water pressure that was coming from Sonya's body, traversing the hallway safely while also managing to keep up with her as they attempted to find anyone trapped inside.

Elaina continued to make sure that the civilians kept their distance while keeping an eye on Sonya who was still using her aqua jet to douse the flames as best as she could. Elaina could tell that Sonya was exerting herself too much, but somehow, she was still managing. However, the moment rain started to pour, Elaina caught the eyes of an inteleon and a woman coming onto the scene. Oshawott even stopped for but a brief moment, noticing the sudden aid. Elaina smiled at her helper while giving Sonya the okay to keep doing what she was doing. Elaina had then decided to walk over to the woman. "Thank you so much! Sonya up there was the only water pokemon I have and the fire started out of nowhere. I can't thank you enough," Elaina said to the woman.

"Name's Elaina, but we can catch up once the rest of the flames have been put out," Elaina stated. Something told her that the woman was more than likely a ranger stationed here in Lavaridge. But now wasn't the time for idle chit-chat. Elaina just wished that she was able to help out more than she could. She just had to hope that little Sonya would be able to keep up her aqua jet as much as possible.

Sonya had always been hesitant to talk to other pokemon, long before she met Elaina. Most of the wild pokemon she had encountered weren't at all friendly toward her. Even other Oshawotts treated her differently ... and she didn't know why. So with that in mind, she wasn't sure whether or not the Noibat that she had just greeted wouldn't be all that friendly to her as every other wild pokemon wasn't. However, she was surprised that the Noibat did in fact turn out to be friendly. In fact, it kind of shocked her. It took her a minute to answer the noibat's question. "S-She's actually really, uh, brave and strong. She's also kind too!" Oshawott said, trying to perk up a bit as she spoke, sounding like a semi-awkward mess.

"Her other pokemon can be ... scary looking, but they're surprisingly nice!" Sonya said, trying to sound reassuring. "What about you? What's your master like?" Sonya asked the noibat, feeling comfortable enough to keep the conversation going. It felt nice, to be able to talk to someone. Perhaps Sonya and the noibat could be friends? "My master calls me Sonya. What does your master call you?"

At first, Elaina was only in Lavaridge town for some sightseeing, however, her visit ended up becoming an off-the-clock job when a fire started on the top floor of an apartment complex. Luckily, she had Sonya the Oshawott with her. Sonya may have been small, but she was quick on her feet as well as being a Water-Type Pokemon. "Everyone, get back! It's not safe to stand so close!," She said, trying to get the civilians to stand back before they got hurt. "Sonya, use Aqua Jet to start putting out the flames!" Elaina had said. Sonya was hesitant, however, water started to form around her body, flying around while using the water to douse the flames. Elaina didn't know if there were any Ranger's on duty, but she hoped that another ranger with a water-type pokemon would arrive soon. Sonya, despite being up for the job, was definitely young, and Elaina herself didn't know how long Sonya would be able to last.

Elaina smiled, giving her a nod, ignoring the cold but at least a moment. As the two women went further into the icelands, Elaina decided to bring out Ira, her Annihilape. When she saw that even her own Annihilape was affected by the biting cold weather, she realized just how unnatural this weather truly was. Ghost pokemon normally never actually felt natural weather conditions, possibly because they weren't alive. Elaina explained to her about a meteor falling near Hoenn, which apparently caused Kyurem to appear - a name that was actually rarely heard of in the Unova Region's history. It was a Legendary pokemon that was considered to be a dragon as well as an Ice-type - a rare blend of pokemon types. "Kyurem, huh? Well, that definitely explains why this area is so cold, as well as uninhabitable," She said while continuing to walk beside the professor. "Kyurem was rarely mentioned in Unova's history books, so I know a little bit about it..." Elaina had said. She knew that it was a powerful pokemon, but she didn't know how powerful it was until now. "Could it be possible for one pokemon to cause this much devastation?" She thought to herself.

"Ohhh, I get it," Elaina had said, finally understanding (albeit somewhat) what Illeana was trying to do. Elaina admitted that she wasn't a scientist, however, she understood the general basis as to why the professor was here in the first place. "Do you believe that your research could find a way to restore the habitat back to its original state?" She asked Professor Reyes. After all, it could've been a possibility. Sure it would take some doing, but it was possible.
