Alec had made several preparations for the series of events that were to come. Apparently, Team Rocket was up to no good again. "Figures," Alec thought to himself with a hint of venom behind that one word that echoed in his mind. A sense of paranoia had washed over him as he and Josh Devlin ventured through the rift, entering the vast chasm that he and his expedition team ventured into at least twice now. They hadn't uncovered a lot in terms of trecking the place, but they've made a fair amount of progress in his opinion. Still, this place was no joke. Coming to a place like this unprepared meant certain, if not absolute, death.

Because of this, Alec had made sure to bring a team that would be able to hold their own if something dangerous came along. Speaking of which, that was the reason why he and Josh were here. "So, tell me why we're investigating this area again?" Alec had begun to ask Josh. The details as to why they were here for an investigation escaped him, mainly because Team Rocket could be anywhere. If someone from Rocket were to pop out and attack them, then Alec would order his pokemon to kill them without batting an eye. The terrorist organization that threatened the Hoenn League seemed to be the only thing on his mind at the moment... which was unclear if that was a good or bad thing. Chances were that his obsession for wanting revenge was being held out in front of him, as if it were tied to a stick in front of him, toying with him.

What's more, was that this place was far from being considered a 'safe place'.

Alec wasn't expecting to pass two people ahead of him. He just figured that it was luck in doing so. Alec immediately took note of the long right turn as well as the rings Veta had to fly through. Keep that Wing Attack Up! Make sure not to miss a single ring! Veta once trilled, complying with her master once again.

Alec didn't even have to tell her to be ready for the inversion up ahead either. Once Alec had tightened his grip, Veta herself turned 180 degrees. All Alec had to do was hold on for dear life and make sure that he was still able to maintain his spot in the race, if not being able to pass @elio, if not the master of faster, Josh Devlin himself.

Alec stood there, smiling faintly when Josh introduced his new pokemon, Raikiri. It seemed like it was a really strong pokemon as well. Alec was kind of surprised when Josh had mentioned possibly using Raikiri to challenge the Elite Four when the time came, granted he had enough time to get Raikiri ready.

Alec wondered though while keeping his thoughts to himself if he were ready for something like that. Asking that out loud would more than likely upset Josh, which wasn’t the reason why he was here. Alec continues to listen to Josh speak, waiting for him to say his piece. “I had a feeling that was the reason why,” Alec thought to himself, knowing that sense of helplessness.

“Tell me something Josh,” Alec paused, a small smile forming where Alec’s lips were. “If you feel you truly are lacking in skill, then what do you believe should be done for you to improve?” Alec asks him. “In my personal opinion, I don’t think it has anything to do with your skill at all,” The dragon tamer continues.

“You remember what it is that Gym Leaders are taught before officially taking their positions?” Alec asks him. Alec was sure that he knew, not asking Josh because he thought he didn’t know. “Gym Leaders are groomed so that they can compose themselves, no matter the situation that’s standing in their way. While their roles in the League are minor compared to those like the Elite Four, or even the Champion themselves, we still play a rather important role.”

“That’s right … I almost forgot that Mt. Pyre is a place where people go to pay their respects to their own and other’s pokemon that passed,” Alec thought to himself. He had been here only a few times back when he was Pacifidlog’s Gym Leader, sometimes here on the job, or just wandering about; catching some pokemon. He remembered that he also used to be scared of this place, and from the looks of it, Ash seemed to be just as scared as well.

Once Ash had stated that he was afraid of going up there, Alec sat upright and said to him, “I don’t blame ya. I used to be scared going up there too. If you want, Marsha and I can go with you up the mountain, if you want?” Alec offered with a smirk. Marsha, who seemed to hear Alec’s offer, perked up, seeming to like the thought, despite that it meant she’d have to leave the mud bath. That was more than likely because she now had a friend to play with, being Ash’s Rillaboom.

While Alec sat on the peculiar-looking Arcanine, it felt as if he were sitting on granite with fur. "That’s odd. Was this Arcanine a Rock Type?” Alec couldn’t help but think to himself. It was definitely something that he would have to get used to as Craggro started to break out into a sprint. Josh’s Zebstrika broke out into a WILD CHARGE, while Etain used his psychic powers in order to increase its own AGILITY.

Alec also noticed that Craggro was much more sluggish when reacting toward’s his use of the reins, more than likely because of the massive dog’s body weight. If it were a Rock type like Alec surmised then his conclusion would make it more solidified. “Hey Craggro! Ya wanna give out your EXTREMESPEED a try?” Alec smirked. Craggro gave a bark, obliging with Alec’s request. The only thing though was that Alec wasn’t … prepared for what would happen. “W-Woah!” Alec said, instantly holding much tighter as the Hisuian Arcanine broke out into intense speed.

“Josh was right. This is way different than how a Dragonite uses this move” Alec thought to himself as he managed to hold on to reins for dear life, making sure he wasn’t unnecessarily pulling on them either.

Alec had figured that her Aegislash would be on defense; wasting no time in Protecting the Lucario from Wigglez’s harmless SOAK. But that didn’t stop Wigglez, just as the Lucario came in close with an EXTREMESPEED, the Inteleon delivered a SUCKER PUNCH, only having Wigglez knocked back, but the stealthy blow he delivered would catch it off guard as well, or at least that was what Alec had hoped.

Just as Wigglez was knocked back from the Lucario’s attack, Kaminari fired yet another THUNDERBOLT at the Lucario once again. With Wigglez not being so close to the incoming electricity, he wouldn’t have to worry about being zapped either.

“Something told me that this wasn’t gonna be easy,” Alec smirked, obviously enjoying that. He preferred battles to be hard-won rather than easily done so. Hopefully, Johanna would agree with him on that. Alec knew that the big problem he and his pokemon would be facing was not the Lucario, but Johanna’s Aegislash. KING’S SHIELD also not had the ability to protect any incoming attack, but it also sapped the strength of the pokemon that comes into physical contact with the protective barrier. Chances were that Johanna would have the Aegislash attempt to keep its Shield stance up for most if not all of the battle.

“If I can have the Aegislash force itself to change its stance, then perhaps we’ll have a chance of winning.” Alec thought to himself, continuing to hold his smirk.
