Yet, as his bird flew into Honchkrow, the pokemon took the attacks, drew them in, and fly into the water guns and pulses, to the point it struggled to continue on flying, before it struck back with the move that it gathered enough to strike back.

And so it did, Come’uppance, a signature dark type move that grew stronger the more one took, returning the force taken by even greater amounts in that moment. The dark wave exploded outwards to take out the rest of the birds in that moment before the Honchkrow began to fall back towards the floor.

Kouji couldn’t agree anymore, this really was the worst in the end. The birds that took over their meal and took it to the gutters.

Battles were annoying.

As much as he loved them, reading the other was always impossible; matching up with move you didn’t know they were going to make was dreadful. It was never going to be enough to guess, but that was why he tried to take the initiative.

”Kind of the point buddy, alive doesn’t need to be on the cards.” He said with mirth as he turned around on his ride, Roaring Moon released the sound it was so well known for. ”Route pass.” If they were going to get some room, it was time to dance.

Dragon Dance, the sound of feathers fluttering, of scales churning against one another as it sharpened its focus, and strengthened itself with the energies that coursed through its body, Kouji was watching just a well.

The birds that took his meal, it was an instant retort as he tried to stab them with his plastic fork but they flew away. Gulls were the worst, and it seemed a lapse in attention had given them the opening to ruin it.

”Hate these flying rats.” He said as he went for his pokeball, jumping to his feet. ”Chicken might just be on the menu again.” it was said with some mirth as he brought out his Honchkrow.

”Hit ‘em with a Dark Pulse.” The bird answered just as fast with a wave of darkness that shot into the sky, aimed at the Wingull.

There was a lot of reasons why a man would be sitting on the couch of another’s home, but in this case, there really was only one. Dimly lit, only the moonlight outside provided any ambience to the insides. The subtle haze that hung outside from the proximity to the sea, and the great lake in the middle of the town, all of which obscured the stars above.

There was a hint of disbelief even if the news had made its way to him. Maybe he was getting soft, but he couldn’t muster the kind of anger that he should have. Like the fire was growing just a little more distant.

When it matters?

”You’re…An idiot.” Kouji said with a laugh, if he didn’t have a knife mere inches from his hand, maybe he’d have rolled over. ”Y’know, being too humble is worse than being arrogant, makes people think you’re looking down on ‘em. When it matters is what strength is. Any old idiot can do it when it doesn’t.”

That’s all it came down to, but when it mattered it was the same as right now as his forearm was gripped, held in place; it was a momentary lapse, but it was just as he was saying those words; he felt a strong impact against the nerves and bones that lined the back of his hand, the knife he held clattered against the ground, but as he hissed back in pain, he leaned back in the same vein to kick up with his leg.

”But that doesn’t make your brave. I really respected ya, even if I disagreed with you. Defecting is a coward’s game, running away from it is what a coward does.” He changed his focus to Navy for a moment, looking away from his opponent was stupid but at the same time.

It’s why we got along.” It was different, the person who knew him best in the world was this person here, Navidson. Who’d seen his entire life play out in that dream, but Kouji felt that he knew the other man fairly well as well.

But thoughts didn’t keep the world moving, as the Absol’s blade embedded in ice told well, a paw on the back of his head was grating to the Harbinger Pokemon, a cut into its pride that it didn’t want to have to foster. With a growl, he used the dark energies swirling within himself to cut upwards with his horn, a Night Slash, pushing forward with everything he could. It didn’t matter if there was a stark difference between the two of them, Absol would fight.

It was the same for the other two pokemon, as Vortigern had begun to smash Kommo’o off the ground, the dragon’s scales were prefectly set to shake once more, unleashing a Clanging Scales at point blank, the sound waves joined the shaking ground in unison. Even with the big clashing moves, it was a fight of durability.

But Umbreon had the easiest time as it seemed like the snarl it had used led to the attacks missing, it wasn’t a matter of battle instinct, she lacked them entirely. What she had to her name was something else, it was that of always observing, she couldn’t do that now as fear was overtaking her, bunkering behind a Foul Play, striking out against Mugen.

The battle was beginning to roll over. It was like electricity in the air that made one’s hair stand up, or was it a matter of presence? Kouji couldn’t tell, but it was something about the inflection of the other’s voice that made him think that.

Can’t roll into a battle thinking you’re going to lose, or you will.” He said with confidence, Kouji just had to keep those thoughts in mind, there was a definite difference between the two of them, it was a matter of battle skill, or perhaps experience? Difficult to tell, but as he was forced to withdraw his Mandibuzz who’d done better than he had expected, it was time to face the Raichu.

”Haaa. Close one, now Jaw Lock.” He told his Roaring Moon, a trusty dragon, the one he relied on more than any of his others. It wasn’t a matter of pride, but what it represented that made Kouji get so close to him.

So, with the dragon in back, barely shielding his rider from the sparks that surrounded them, and the bolts that had almost wiped out its ally, Roaring Moon dived in with his teeth first.

Kouji settled his stance, wide, fist facing forward; it’d be the one strike to finish it all, he could feel his ribs aching as he dashed forward, he’d need the extra momentum to make up for the difference in physical strength.

It was a simple fact, Kaz had greater reach, and he had a stronger strike, he needed every little edge he could muster, it was why his forward facing punch was the feint, pretending to go for a large right overhand, it was his left fist aimed in an uppercut that was the real blow to throw.

The flaming fist that parted the dust cloud of shattered rocks was met with a Fire Fang, flame met flame in a clash, fire erupted from the sides in a blaze as the Tyranitar tried to fight back against the strength of the Dragonite.
