He supposed everyone was a critic. There was no pleasing everyone. It was something he knew all too well. But it still didn’t sit right with him that Elise was facing backlash. She didn’t deserve that. In his opinion the people of Galar wouldn’t know a good thing if it hit them over the head. But this came from a someone who had suffered at hands of someone who he was supposed to trust so maybe his thoughts on the matter didn’t really matter.

”How so? Your aunts not like a dictator is she?” he inquired dryly. He doubted that was the case. And his dry tone implied that. Seriously he felt that compared to others, people in Galar had it easy. His own life had been filled with hardships but he wasn’t about to start blaming people for that. He didn’t really understand people hating on the royal family. Well at least not everyone in it. To him that would be like someone hating him because of his father.

Pouring himself a cup of coffee he let out a sigh. Sleep was impossible if all he ever did when he slept was have nightmares. He heavily preferred just not sleeping at all. It had probably been a few days since he had actually gotten any sleep. Due to how much coffee he drank it was actually pretty easy. That didn’t mean that he wasn’t always tired.

Lack of sleep made it hard to deal with stuff at times. So when he opened his eyes to see a Venonat he made a lunge for it trying to grab it so he could put it back outside. Of course the bug type saw him coming and dodged his swipe making him miss. He hit the ground with a grunt and was getting back to his feet with even more bug Pokémon came through the window.

Now on his feet he moved back eying the bug Pokémon warily. His house was too enclosed to use Corviknight and he wasn’t sure using Zebstrika in such an enclosed space was such a good idea either. However it was the best idea he had. So he unleashed Volt from his pokeball. ”Try to paralyze a few of them with thunder wave, I’m going to call for back up,” he told the electric type while he moved away.

”This is Trainee Ranger Blackwell. My home is being invaded by bug Pokémon. It would be great if I could get some backup,” he said once over the ranger network making sure to say where his residence was. Hopefully one of the other rangers would hear his message and come to his aid. He had no way of knowing what rangers were busy. Someone could cut the tension with the knife. It made him uneasy. It wasn’t a nice feeling to have. He had never been good at communicating his feelings though. And part of it was do to stubbornness. Not wanting to admit that anything was wrong. Besides how would he go about explaining something like this. As far as he was concerned he would just have to deal with these feelings.

Thankfully the older male broke the silence when he had asked about his flower choices. It was something he could easily answer. But it wasn’t enough to make him relax. He wasn’t sure of what to make of his response. Though his tone made him feel like he should take some offense. This just made him more wary. Since he felt the guy was trying to start something with him.

”I’m aware,” he said maintaining his monotone voice. He couldn’t allow the older male to know his tone had gotten to him. When he spoke up just cutting them this morning he couldn’t help but be surprised. Not that he showed it. He felt to on edge to show his emotions.

The idea he would do it to impress someone was laughable. Why would have bother when they wouldn’t be impressed by him anyway? He had to bite his tongue to prevent himself from saying that. It was saying stuff like that that often got him strange looks. So he tried not to say stuff like that.

Ever had been tasked with a mission. Apparently an Oranguru had been stealing people’s Pokémon and using them to pretend to be a trainer. The sad thing was was that it was actually winning. And no one had been able to beat it. The fact the Pokémon would actually listen to another being outside of its trainer did make him question the trainer’s capabilities.

During the briefing he had kept his thoughts to himself. Wouldn’t be good for him to start something because he couldn’t keep his mouth shut. He had mostly let someone else deal with the mess of dealing with the trainer. Because if it was left to him he was sure there would be tears. He wasn’t always the most sympathetic person.

While someone else dealt with the trainer he just had to go over the mission details. It was basically work with a higher ranked ranger to secure the persons Pokémon. Of course they would have to successfully beat the Oranguru in battle. Sometimes this job could be so weird.

He was told they would meet up on Route 116, the last known sighting of the Oranguru, and he nodded. Not being much for talking he saw no point in really saying anything. Without a word he made his way to the designated meeting place. Reaching the entrance of Route 116 he awaited his partner. Some older ranger he hadn’t ever met.[break] Orion Lykos

It seemed the older male had seen that he was nervous. Though he doubted he knew the reason. Probably figured it was first mission jitters. And for anyone else that would probably be the case. He was usually to on edge on a daily basis to get nervous about a mission. Even if it was his first one.

The idea of being on a first name basis with a superior was strange. It was something his father wouldn’t have tolerated. But if he said it was okay he should do as he wished. The idea that it could be some kind of trick was there. But the elite ranger didn’t really seem to be the type.

”If that’s what you want. I prefer my first name over my last anyway,” he told the older male his voice giving nothing of how he was feeling away. Though what he said was true. Even adding ranger to his last name made him feel like he needed to look over his shoulder for his father. It wasn’t a real big deal though, so he hadn’t given much thought to fixing the issue.

Seemed he wasn’t annoyed by the fact that he didn’t have Pokémon more fitting of the task. Even going so far to compliment his choices of Pokémon. This caused him to look away having never been the most comfortable with compliments. ”They’ve both been fitted with saddles,” he told the elite ranger. Not that that would do either on them any good.

Listening to what he said he nodded in agreement. He was right about that. Rook wouldn’t be able to fly well and with Volt wouldn’t be able to misjudge a leap. He didn’t want to put that kind of pressure on the Zebstrika. ”I’ll ride one of the pyroar,” he said moving over to the pyroar and getting on one.

Once he had gotten on they would move forward. As they walked he would scan their surroundings. Just because this was a simple mission didn’t mean they should let their guard down. Sometimes unexpected things happened. So it was best to always be prepared.

His attention was drawn once more to the older male as he mentioned looking around and he nodded. He watched him leave glad that it was the elite ranger and not him. What the Greninja did looked disorienting. Not to mention that the idea of leaping into a waterfall didn’t appeal to him. Even if he knew the dual type was strong enough not to he washed under the falls.

His attention was fixed on the falls, so he noticed immediately when the elite ranger returned. ”If it keeps me from going for a dip I’m all for it,” he told the older male. He turned quickly to face the other male. His expression was carefully blank giving nothing away. Though his tense posture would give away how uneasy he was. ”Hello,” he said in return more out of politeness than because he cared to. The older male had greeted him and it would be impolite for him not to return the greeting. That’s the way he thought of it anyway.

The Lilligant momentarily grabbed his attention and his expression softened somewhat. Well until he realize what he was doing and mentally shook himself. What was he doing he doing he couldn’t show any weakness. That’s they way he saw things as his expression closed off once more. He couldn’t let his guard down with someone he didn’t know.

His attention returned to the older male as he spoke. Asking him what he was looking for. His tone did nothing to make him relaxing only succeeding in putting him more on edge. He mirrored the other male crossing his arms over his chest his expression if possible becoming even more impassive.

”I was wondering if you have gardenia’s and lavender?” he said in a monotone voice. While he loved all flowers he had always had always favored gardenia. Though if he had choose between lavender or gardenia, there was no question that he would choose lavender. Just for its soothing fragrance.[break] Victor Ranallo

With a snap of his camera he took a picture of the Pokémon he had spotted. He had spend most of the morning walking around Route 110 taking photos of the Pokémon that made the stretch of land their home. Though they were wild Pokémon none of them seemed interested in engaging him. Though that was probably because of Rook. The Corviknight was as usual not in his pokeball and was hovering just behind his trainer.

Brushing a few strands of hair out of his eyes he paused to look at the pictures he had taken. He supposed he had taken enough for now. It was time for a short break before he moved somewhere else. Allowing the camera to dangle once more around his neck he started to make his way towards Mauville.

He had just walked through the last of the grass that was home to the Pokémon in the area when he just happened to look up and noticed the flower shop. Of course he had noticed it the last time he had been around this area. But he was sure it had been closed. It seemed to be open now though.

Hesitating briefly he began to make his way towards the shop. Before he had completely closed the distance between himself and the shop he recalled the Corviknight. He doubted the owner would appreciate the flying/steel type being loose in their shop. And he was too paranoid to have him wait outside. What if someone took him.

Shaking his head to clear his head he made his way into the shop. Entering the shop was a nice respite from the heat. But he didn’t fully relax. Whoever owned the shop was probably someone he didn’t know. So relaxing was out of the question.[break] Victor Ranallo
