Picking up the freshly contained pokeball and slipping it into her strawberry purse, Desiree would be quick to pick up her Clefairy and hold it in between her arms while they walked across the rest of the bridge. The Flabebe and Tropius would follow, the smaller floating to rest on top of her trainer's head; it almost looked like a floral antennae, or a sprout, from her pink ever-expanding waves. Sunlight only ceased to show in the almost-disappeared sunset, meaning the rest of their trek to the final parts of the zone needed to come quite soon.[break][break]

Finishing her cigarette and disposing of it in an ashtray, the fairy-type trainer would look around at the breathtaking scenery. With the light from the lanterns that lit the way and the sunlight, it looked like the forest around her was entirely black despite it still having color at the edges. It reminded her of her journies to Laverre City back in Kalos to visit her grandmother when she was young but without the giant mushrooms. Starlight the Clefairy's hands would wiggle outwards as if she were excited, noticing it too- but it was only an assumption by her trainer, as she saw the pink wild pokemon far before Desiree.[break][break]

Directing her attention with a little meep, the pinkette idol's golden eyes would soon dart to where Clefairy was pointing on the trail, spotting the bright pink color nestled in between two bushes. It looked like one of the pokemon that worked at the pokecenters, only so much smaller; a baby. Getting ready for a nap, or at least it looked like, the Happiny would hold onto the egg upon its waist as it would doze off, held up by a manifestation of branches.[break][break]

In her trainer's arms, Clefairy would sing towards the sleepy friend, causing it to fall into a slumber- but it didn't help much, as it was already falling asleep. Those cosmic calls were so serene sounding they almost put Desiree to sleep too, but her wish to name this her final catch of the night was more than enough to keep her awake for now. Taking her final safari ball out of her pocket, the pinkette would toss it towards the sleeping Happiny. She hoped waking up to friendship would be enough for the wild playhouse pokemon if the attempt was successful.

The squawking down acquainted with the visuals on the screen played to the rhythm of the beginning of her song 'IN THE RAIN' in her mind, setting the note of this special occasion. Looking up to the fans for a split second during the countdown and then focusing her eyes in front of her, the grip Desiree had on the reins of Beanbean's saddle tightened to what she'd need for a quick-paced ride. "Think of the Kalosian mountains around Anistar Beanbean, good luck~! ♡" Adjusting her body as if she were somewhat leaning towards the Arcanine's face, determination and focus would echo within her mind like a migraine, bracing for the exhibition of the skill she had partaken in prior to her music career.[break][break]

As soon as the highest-pitched squawk echoed throughout the arena, Desiree and Beanbean were off, marked by the tightening around his stomach and the flick of the reins. Noticing the other riders begin their race with otherworldly determination, she would follow suit in addition to the Arcanine, charging beside them into the beginning zone of the race. When she had approached the starting line of the track moments earlier she'd noticed how there was a turn ahead, but there was no telling what resided behind it; hitting the turn with too much speed would nail Beanbean into the side and straight off course, the need to take it a bit easier was certainly there.[break][break]

"Take the turn light, lovey~! Prepare for anything ♡~!" A serious demeanor wrapped in pink ribbon would be present in her words as the two would feel the track begin to expand uphill, braving the ride. Pretending as if there was a line of video game candies in front of his vision, like Pacman, Beanbean would hold open his maw ever so slightly as if he were eating them in the mountains. Even if they weren't real, they were definitely a motivation bringer.[break][break]

At the end of the turn there seemed to be a drop in the manmade terrain, causing eagerness to pulsate through Beanbean's veins- he wished to be at the head of the pack, as did his rider. A drop like this was just like the terrain back in the mountains after a landslide, perhaps nostalgic, perhaps skill-gaining. Firmly holding onto the reins and giving them a snap, Beanbean would paint the picture of a cowgirl in a western movie on the back of her horse with his vault, feeling the winds of speed coursing through his fur.

"No worries, I lose track of time up here soo much, ♡" She'd playfully tease, making her way to the open view of the kitchen after guiding him to the ever-so-close couch in the living room, ".. And good, good. I feel that; I've been flying on my Tropius since I was a teenager~." Rummaging through the bottom half of her refrigerator while speaking across the rooms, Desiree wondered what Derek's tastes happened to be when it came to liquor, but the options were rather small. Pulling out a bottle of strawberry wine, her signature, and pochteca lime tequila, they would clack on the table alongside the twin wine and shot glasses. Maybe mixing the two in their stomachs wouldn't be the greatest of an idea, but she wasn't opposed if he wasn't.[break][break]

Hiding the cigarette smell wasn't the hardest thing to do when the windows were open, but even then, Desiree couldn't have cared less. Lumiose City was the home of the hourly cigarette smoker; she indulged quite often, a hometown tradition. "Yup~! I've got some strawberry ciggies and a dab pen, take what you'd like ♡~." She'd join him in the expanse of the living room, setting down a tray with all the boozy and smokey goods. Sinking into the couch beside him, her acrylic nails would tap on the fabric's surface in curiosity after lighting up a cigarette of her own.[break][break]

Looking at the water type with fascinated and excited eyes, Truffle the Chespin found her gaze bouncing back and forth between Jonesy and the television. She'd speak in their own language that she thought it was in Hoenn, but she could be wrong; but all in all, it was definitely a scene in Johto. Picking up one of the toys littered across the fluffy rug, she'd hold out a bundle of strings toward Jonesy, wishing to play tug-of-war. Shyness was never a quirk of the grass type, she was a social butterfly. And she loved to dance with the technique of the truffle shuffle, hence her name.[break][break]

"Wanna take some shooooots~?" Desiree would look toward Derek with want in her eyes and a smile on her face, picking up the bottle of tequila. Still unsure of his motives for this 'playdate', she wouldn't want to drink too much herself; it wasn't uncommon for men to be men, hell, he even said it, though in a different context. Though it wouldn't be like she would mind, as he proved to be rather handsome- but for now she'd pour the liquor into the shot glasses and the wine into the fancy glasses, keeping that thought reserved.[break][break]

Cigarette resting between her fingers, she'd ash it momentarily in a heart-shaped ashtray on the table before looking at him with her golden optics. "Your profile said you're a ranger, right~? What's the craziest thing you've encountered out there~? ♡" Smoke fluttering out of her lips, she'd wonder, gazing towards him intently. The shots were waiting for his call.

It was kind of amusing to Desiree how her first match while she was in the hot seat was so beefy, yet missed his target- but she wasn't there for long, as a kind-looking brunette took her place shortly thereafter. The dunk in the water felt so nice, even if it was filled with dirt and grime from so many stinky fairgoers! Up in line to attempt to keep the activities going, it would soon be her turn, finishing her cocktail and picking up the ball. If only the ball was pink, then it'd be lucky.[break][break]

"Oh hey, you again~! ♡" Noticing that the woman up in the seat was the same one she had dunked before, she'd smile and wave, giving a cutesy pose or two. Desiree wondered if it was her destiny to keep dunking this person over and over. Raising the ball over her head and doing a good luck shimmy, she'd throw the ball, impending if it would hit the target once again.

Her phone would be quick to buzz back, a corresponding text from her mother; Misty Titania loved the sight of adorable little Pincurchins and sent her a link to an article about how their natural predator was Mareanie, both living at the bottom of the ocean. Desiree felt the tiniest bit bad that they were hunted by the poison-type species, but their electric spikes did prove rather effective as protection. Before long the wild electric type had flopped over the side of the bridge into the water, a few treats shishkebabed on its spikes. Folding up the treat mat and its contents and beginning to place it back into her purse, she would notice another bobbing head approaching from the opposite end of the bridge.[break][break]

It was none other than a wild Ralts, a species that the idol was quite in the know of in comparison to most of the others she had encountered in the zone. Though a bit shy, its eyes were on the treat-bundled surprise; its little hands would reach out toward the purse as if it wanted a treat of its very own. Desiree's Flabebe would be quick to float over to accompany the psychic type in her bridge perusal, letting her know that everything was okay. Coming off as reserved, it would seem hesitant at first but would recognize with its telepathy that it had nothing to fear.[break][break]

Desiree would kneel down once more, digging out a few of the bundled-up candies and holding them out towards the Ralts. It would take them willingly and begin to take little tastes, dissecting the flavor whilst looking up in gratitude. Being one of the featured pokemon that the pinkette had specifically come here for, she would press one of the buttons of the safari pokeballs on her head, encapsulating her in light for a moment. Hopefully, her gift of treats would be enough for the capture to prove a success; the fairy-type trainer knew they would be the best of friends in the long run.

Having befriended a Clamperl the day prior, what better bonding experience would there be than to go back into the ocean with the new friend? Fluttering through the deep ocean current, it would appear to all the other swimmers that Desiree had this water-type pokemon fascinated to her chest with a safety harness- all comfortable yet secure so she wouldn't float away. Just what would the deep fluctuating sands have in store for the pinkette and the pearl today?[break][break]

Running her hands through the whisps of sand, she'd wonder how just so many things made it to the bottom of the ocean. Sure, littering was littering, but most of these were valuable treasures. Maybe a sunken ship of loot was nearby? Regardless though, the bottom of the ocean was a painted canvas of rock, coral, and multi-colored fishies, illuminated by the sun rays that made their way deeper.[break][break]

Footsteps led to another bridge passing a river-like formation, appearing to be covered entirely by vines and flora, Desiree would continue down the path accompanied by the group. The sun was preparing to make its way down the horizon; the sky was now appearing entirely coated in dark pink and orange. Saying goodbye with her heart at the notice, the final sun rays hid themselves behind clouds. Flickering for a moment, the lanterns and small ground lights would turn on, illuminating the path and its surroundings surprisingly well.[break][break]

"Would the three of you like some treats~?" Looking behind at the three pokemon that had accompanied her to the safari zone, they would all seem to nod excitedly, moving to the edge of the bridge so others could pass if they were to appear. Taking a handful of candies out from her purse and a corresponding mat, she'd lay it upon the bridge's bottom. Spreading the treats apart, the three pokemon would munch down, the Flabebe taking her time.[break][break]

Though, a little figure would pop out from behind one of the Tropius' legs, slowly sulking onto the mat to take a bite of its own. It seemed to be some kind of slug pokemon with super sharp spikes; Desiree had yet to see one of these pokemon as well, but it was too cute to shoo away (if it were even possible)! As it would indulge into the abundance of treats, she would take a snapshot of it with her phone camera and send it to her mother.[break][break]

It had been too long since she reached out.

Indulging herself in both the alcohol and his pull closer, she would find her lips up against his. It was that feeling of bliss and excitement releasing but flowing all the way back in, something she hadn't felt in quite a long time. Desiree never wished for it to end, but it always would after a moment or hours, though time was beginning to lose its footing within her mind. Feeling the necklaces that had spanned from his neck down onto his upper chest, she would turn them in between her fingers whilst listening tipsily yet attentively to his rewarded question.[break][break]

"That's so funny, ♡" A soft chuckle had manifested, the pinkette holding the embellished centerpieces of the leather jewelry in her palm, ".. you probably haven't heard of a neon wand, they're craazy. Pads are nice too, though~." The thought of an actual alligator clip's use was outlandish even to her, it was a question, and all questions were proving to be fair in this game of introspection and booze.[break][break]

Desiree would continue to look down at the glimmer being cast from his adorned accessories, a crystalline backdrop from her dress and his chest painting the picture, one hand holding herself up against his tattooed chest. They were beautiful to look at up close, a dim-lit menagerie, but her vision would slowly pan upward to meet his eyes, allowing her other hand to press against his chest. Though the thought was mainly occurring due to the sheer amount of liquor in her system, she was becoming the tiniest bit antsy to finally win and get her turn, causing her eyebrow to raise ever so slightly; but the flicker of desire never ceased within her gaze.[break][break]

Those shimmering butterflies continued to spread their wings, engulfed in flame. "Is thirty too outlandish of a guess~? ♡" One of her hands would stray from the black artistry spanning across his shoulder blades, grabbing her vape and taking a drag, blowing it out the side of her lips. Any more drinking and it would prove to be too much; she knew her limits, at least when it came to alcohol.

Approaching a small, dainty stand selling balloons in the shape of pokemon, Desiree would be quick to point at the one shaped like a Skitty, looking down at the little kitten sleeping in a basket held up by her arm. Though Meowmeow was eepy in every way possible, it would surely be a lovely surprise when she broke out of her slumber- but she was so tired from all the walking from their apartment to the festival grounds, even if it was only about a three-minute journey downwards. A couple of pokedollars exchanged on the table and put into the register, the two would embark further into the streets turned fairgrounds after tying it to the handle of the cloud-shaped basket.[break][break]

This would be day two of participating in the perusal of the Magnificent Funtasia for the pinkette, sun rays gleaming down from above with each step she would take out from the shade. The first day was a date with Callan, which proved to be fun in every way possible- but she wanted to get more and more stamps to net the grand prize, selfish, she knew. Lighting up one of her fruity-flavored cigarettes and taking a drag, she'd scan the area and its wandering faces to see if anyone stood out that she may have known. But she was still quite the foreigner in these parts; she'd only acquainted with a dozen or so, outside of amigo.[break][break]

Walking under the ever-expanding treehouses that spanned above the festival, a white-haired individual would catch her eye. It was none other than the gym leader of her new home city, Alexei, and she had been itching to arrange a meetup with him ever since her move-in. "Hey~! You're Alexei Ivanov, right?" A smile would manifest upon her cigarette-holding lips, extending a hand out in an attempted greeting. "..I've been meaning to speak with you since I moved to Fortree a month ago, I'm Desiree, a pleasure to meet you! ♡"

Continuing on the embellished trail of roses and thorns, Desiree's cigarette was almost out; so what better thing to do than put it out, discard it in an ashtray, and light another one? Sparks flew when she'd light the tip of the blueberry cigarette, inhaling the fruity flavor and appearing sparkly-eyed in response. The Tropius, Banaynay, was not the biggest fan of the secondhand smoke, causing her to flutter the leaf wings on her back in an attempt to dissipate the haze faster than ever before.[break][break]

Though, as she stepped off of the bridge back onto the natural parts of the manmade route, the pinkette would begin to notice that there were a few piles of ash here and there; no active burning, but they looked to have been tampered with. Was there a fire in this part of the safari zone? It was mildly concerning at first, but as she heard a few corresponding yips on the outskirts of the treeline, a feeling of nostalgia and recognition would ensue. Her eyes scanning the horizon, she saw nothing at first, but upon closer inspection of a bush, she saw the fluff of fire-type manes.[break][break]

Exhaling more smoke from her cigarette, a few wild Growlithe would shoot out of the bush in question, running about and beginning to roll around in the pile of ash and dirt. It was an adorable sight; rustling in her bag in an attempt to find Beanbean's pokeball so he could play with the wild babies of his species, Desiree would feel literally everything in her bag. But then she remembered- he was out running the tracks with a bunch of other trainer's dog-type pokemon in search of the remains of the Galarian legendary dogs. Sighing and ceasing her search for the pokeball of her fire-type riding pokemon, she'd raise her hand out to stroke one of the baby's manes before continuing on her search. This would be a little secret she wouldn't tell Beanbean because he'd get the biggest fomo.

Glistening under the sunlight yet protected by an ultraviolet-immune veil, the sparkling mangosteen and cherry pokemon of Desiree's found themselves bobbing at the surface of the sea in an adorable basket. Their curious eyes would look over the edge of the basket's ridge in search of their trainer, which had dived into the sea seconds earlier- it was yet another day of diving for the pinkette in the early morning, bridging the ocean's surface for any buried treasures.[break][break]

Swimming through the sea, Desiree wondered if she could find yet another beautiful hidden gem of the sea; yesterday she found a crystal she could use to terastallize a pink friend in the future, but for now, she would keep her eyes peeled. Melody Miro
I got goosebumps the second I started listening to M.M, specifically the song 'New Genesis', and they never went away as I kept listening. The differing melodies and the ability to fit into multiple genres with song is quite the skill to have, and Melody Miro has definitely proven that she has attained and mastered this skill. Though this album does have some themes that delve into struggles, it encapsulates living through the darkness and growing through it; it's quite inspiring and something that I have had to work through myself quite a lot. I put off listening to this album in its entirety at first, but I'm so glad that I picked it up and gave it a thorough listen. Comfort is easily found knowing that others you look up to go through issues in their lives similar to your own, so thank you for showing vulnerability while producing such beautiful bops simultaneously, Melody. Also imma be turning up with the girls in Lilycove to 'Lilycove' very very soon. An amazing listen! ★★★★★

MEMORY
SHEBA INOUE
Having been a fan of Sheba Inoue since I was, what, thirteen or fourteen? I was SO excited to see that she finally came out with another album and bought it on vinyl as soon as I possibly could! This album has a somewhat different vibe than the songs I used to listen to by her, like 'LOVEIT', but I couldn't love it more. It gives me a melancholic vibe; I greatly appreciate the direction she's decided to go with her music since her return, as I feel like her musical talent and audience has evolved in just the right ways. It almost feels like her music has grown up alongside me, even though it is very prevalent that she has only went up in relation to her talent. This album very clearly has a theme of longing for something; I had to look up translations because I don't speak Kantonian, but I do not regret it one bit! The lyric 'If the sand in the hourglass stops falling, I wonder if I can become that sand; How nice it would be, but I'm choosing not to love you' in 'Bluenote' MADE ME CRYYY. Keep making music, Sheba, we have missed you so much and are grateful for your talent. Such an exquisite album. ★★★★★

BURN THE RAIN
Callan Young
Even before I met Callan Young, I was always such a fan- I know, you wouldn't expect an edm princess to have acquired the taste of rock and grunge, right? We met right after the release of this album, and I couldn't help but tell Callan that this album really helped me through some shit around the time I moved to Hoenn. And it's true- the mastery of these genres and his guitar mixed with his voice and lyrics was such a great help when it came to addressing some things in my past that have cloaked my brain as of late and was certainly on repeat when I was unpacking my hefty load of luggage. That could be a bit of a metaphor, as it helped me also unpack my feelings about what happened with my father. Specifically 'All Apologies' stood out to me when it came to coping with that loss- 'Find my nest of salt, everything is my fault; I'll take all the blame, aqua seafoam of shame.' Listen to this album, you won't regret it- and some of the songs are the best to dance to alone in your pajamas over a pack of beer. Do it. Thank you Callan for making such a beautiful album, I'll forever be grateful for you and your music. Keep on that guitar of yours, mr. talent. ★★★★★

Once the pokeball signalled that its attempted capture was a success, Desiree would smile in delight, slipping the ball into her strawberry-shaped purse. It was quite a magnificent feat that pokemon species had the ability to bear differing colors, unique and rare; she wondered just what caused this to happen, was it some sort of genetic mutation? Scientific thoughts like those were far above her, something she hadn't thought of since high school back in Kalos. Taking a snapshot of the tree that looked to bear cherries, though they were just wild Cherubi getting ready for a night's rest, she would continue on the path.[break][break]

Walking over a decadent bridge wrapped in roses and vines, the pinkette would look down from the center. Below the bridge was a cascading river, and though the sunset above was causing it to be quite the muffled sight in terms of colors, it was still beautiful nevertheless. On the edge of the water appeared to be a blue bird-like pokemon that she had never got the chance to see before, almost guaranteed to be native to countries other than Kalos. That, or she was just always in the wrong places at the wrong times to catch a glimpse; it looked as if it were gulping up little fishies with its beak.[break][break]

Ashing her cigarette in one of the provided ashtrays at the center of the bridge, she'd take note of this wild Cramorant's eating habits and continue on the path. The wild pokemon looked kinda silly trying to fit a fish that big in its neck, but it was quite impressive how it was able to eventually get it all the way down. Desiree's Clefairy found this to be quite amusing as well, but soon the munching bird was out of sight.
