before he can escape from Abner Armstrong's company, priam conrad approaches. marcel does his best not to let his dismay show, since priam isn't really the one to blame. he glances over as several others have far better luck at the watermelon game--it's sort of embarrassing, really--and wonders why priam isn't joining in. it seemed like his sort of thing.

in an unexpected turn of events, it's abner who speaks sense in this moment--he's not even going to get started on priam's poor excuse. marcel's anger begins to simmer as the seconds tick on.

"well don't fu--" he looks at priam and pinches the bridge of his nose. "don't do that again."

his phone goes off. marcel takes it out his pocket just far enough to glance at the screen, before pocketing it again with a mutter. "and abner, i swear to god if this is to do with your fight club..."

before dominic can respond, marcel pushes himself off his chair, murmuring an apology to his dragonair as she stirs. as he walks to the next room, he shoves his tie into his pocket. his rotom-phone stays where it is.

it doesn't take long for him to find the freezer in the next room. crouching down, marcel rummages through the drawers until he finds a popsicle of his own. he gets up to leave but, on second thought, opens the freezer again and pulls out one of its drawers.

"belle." he calls to his pokemon as he drops the freezer drawer onto the floor. it's by no means large enough for the dragonair, but it's something. it takes belle a moment to catch his train of thought, eventually dragging herself across the room to bury her head in the tray's frozen contents.

marcel walks into the east wing, those who notice his arrival quieten down a bit, while the majority remain entranced by the ongoing fight. it takes him a moment to identify abner--there's no need to hold back his scoff, it's soon lost to the cheers anyway. he glances at the time on his phone.

his patience finally runs thin. marcel begins to weave through the crowd, only muttering apologies when someone actually glances his way. but by the time he reaches the ring, the fight is already over. he cringes at the sound of his nickname.

"that's not our problem," he answers, crossing his arms, "rocket's dead, they can do what they want with that name." his zoroark shifts slightly, and marcel has to check its not planning to attack before he continues. "what i'm worried about is people like you." rats. he didn't know every single mission razz had been on back with rocket, or whether he had the means to expose each one of them to the league.

grabbing hold of his phone, he quickly pockets it as his rotom slips out. a THUNDER WAVE crackles across the deck, striking one of the pirates in the knees. he glances around to check on both remiel and eva before he continues. "vega, dragon pulse."

the noivern already has her teeth in the same pirate's shirt; at the sound of her trainer's voice, her head jerks up, tugging roughly at the pirate. she lets go, a swirling DRAGON PULSE gathering at her jaw, before she hurls it at another one of their attackers.

[attr="class","mthread"]marcel glances sidelong towards the ruckus, his eyes landing on--surprise surprise--one Abner Armstrong. he watches the violent, unsuccessful swing of his foot, and waits for the blindfold to be lifted from his eyes before shooting the man an unimpressed look.

"really, abner?" he drawls.
[break][break]before he can say anything more, he's distracted by the sound of laughter behind him. marcel tenses as a pair of hands land on his shoulders, the sound of his cover name is the only thing that holds him back as the band of cloth is pressed to his eyes, his poppin' pachirisu swiped from his grip. the good-natured laugh that leaves him is not obviously forced.

he's spun three time; a baton's pressed into his hands. marcel walk--stumbles--towards the watermelon before he, with an incredible reluctance, swings.
