IN OCTOBER — the aftermath of the war is spent rejuvenating the region. pokemon and trainers are hard at work, repairing natural landscapes, while clearing fields and mountains of macabre remnants. still, pools of poison remain where naganadel and poipole have fallen... until they are cleaned, poor unsuspecting wildlife may find themselves within these toxic traps, forcing them to become aggressive and hostile.[break][break][break]

by the docks of slateport, a swarm of seadra begin to congregate. they ooze poisons from their fin tips, causing the waters around them to become murky and putrid. league rangers have sectioned off the shore in order to combat the seadra and to clean the waters.[break][break][break]

there's no reason for a grass-type to be heading into poison-infested waters, but there kyle was.

the ludicolo comes in to spread its bubbles in the area. maybe it's for a nice scenic change to contrast the chaos of such incidents happening, and kyle is likely to believe that than anything else.

at least the seadra get to get distracted by them. he sees one of them stop their aggressions with their excessive release of poison at the sight of bubbles.

kyle slowly inches his hand through his pocket and decides to take a picture of it.

The water where the seadra populate is a gooey, dark color. A rather ugly sight, as the usually clear waves seem almost sickly with the influx of poison polluting it. Needing to get the seadra out of the way to be able to properly purify the putrid water and rid their systems of the toxins, Circe offers her aid. She lifts her Shiinotic into the air almost comically, the mushroom happily waving its arms about with an eerie giggle. "Stop it," her annoyance for the nonchalant pokemon shows in the form of an irate curl of her lip. It doesn't know the difference between work and play, and its overly touchy, lax nature never ceases to grind her gears. She faintly misses when the pokemon was a morellul - it was far quieter. She gives it a rather harsh shake, "hurry up, do it."

The shiinotic only giggles before, finally, releasing a drifting flow of SPORES from its cap. The puffs ATTACK the seadra, lulling them into a harmless, deep sleep to allow the others to do as they needed.

"Ugh, gross."

Oscar turned his nose away from the churning sea, sickened by the stench of the gathering seadra. Their toxin could be smelled a mile away, how could Oscar note come to investigate? Though now that he had his answers, he was really sure what to do. He could kill them all, but that seemed not only wasteful but likely bad for the environment. Guess it was best to just ignore it and--oh dear.

Oscar could not help but notice the cluster of water types dragging themselves out of the ocean, flopping this way and that while choking on poison. Oscar rolled his eyes, what a waste of life and potential profit. If only someone could help these poor defenseless water types. Oh wait he could.

Oscar let out a little dewpider, his partner in crime Clavis. Oscar snapped his fingers, "Clavis get these slabs back into the water." Clavis looked to the water pokemon flopping onto the harbor, and then stared back at his master. What the fuck was he supposed to do? Oscar groaned, "Aqua Ring, dude. Come on." Clavis saluted with one of his legs and wobbled over to a choking magikarp.

Water from Clavis's clean bubble began to encircle him. Clavis would wrap his legs around the magikarp like a hug, allowing the choking fish to feel its healing embrace. Soon the magikarp felt well enough to dive back in and swim to safety. Clavis went to each hurt pokemon one by one, giving them a healing hug . Oscar sighed, him and his bleeding heart. This'll take forever.

Adrian had been taking a stroll along the boardwalk when his phone was pinged, but more obvious than that was the increasing activity of rangers moving towards the beach, sectioning off the shoreline.

Guess I gotta go see what's up...

The sunbaked sand caked between his toes as he crossed the beach, arriving to sea the ocean churning with a purple tinge soon overtaking the natural cerulean blues. Man, is nowhere sacred...?

The obvious and growing concern was how the tide pulled the water in all directions, forcing them to preemptively cordon off more and more of the beach, while many were likely considering shutting down the entire beach just to be certain.

Rubbing his chin, Adrian had an idea... a bad one.

Pulling up his PC and unvaulting his Gastrodon, he'd release it along the shore, where the waves rolled over it, yet seemed never to recede again. This would be due to its STORM DRAIN taking effect, as the tainted waters were siphoned towards the sea slug, negating the tide's pull.

Now to hope Gastrodon isn't poisoned...

The araquanid did its best to rein in the putrid poisons oozing from the sickly seadra. Crafting bubbles was second nature to the pokemon. Head dipped just beneath the water it expelled a near constant bubble beam which churned the water, flushing the poison back towards the source.

When the straying spores from circe crowley miss their mark Lucas' araquanid is quick to react. It redirected its bubble beam to tightly engulf all the spores that'd landed on the water's surface and carry them toward the seadras.

With the whole team present and willing to fight it seemed only Corsola (and Gan as her stunt double), had the means to actually be of any help here.

He'd brought a couple more to dilute the waters and provide some shock treatment to the seadra but it would have been no good if they got covered in the rage-poison and starting running wild.

With the Corsola's ability to apply a NATURAL CURE to herself of any linger effects of the Seadra poisons in the water they worked slowly to battle off the seahorses and dilute the waters only having to occasionally swap out to let the other heal.

There was still a lot of work to do with most of the fighting behind them but getting the environment back to normal meant the rangers still had a whole hell of a lot of work left to do.

”Okay Link! Time to show everyone! What kind of Master Sword you got!” Billi yelled out as he threw Dratini's pokeball into the air releasing it in a burst of joy. The Dratini screeched with joy as it wrapped around Billi’s torso. The area was sectioned off clearly, with floations and ropes, and it had appeared that the Seadra. “Okay go in, just kinda see if you can get rid of the gunk down below and show off your scales,”

The Dratini happily obliged as it dived into the water, through the black purple sludge, unaffected due to it’s MARVEL SCALES shining so brightly. Once it reached the lower depths where the sludge had settled, he used a water pulse to blast it away and purify it. It quickly swam back up and jumped out of the water like Free Willie and clung to Billi, “Good job buddy!” he paused and hugged it tightly.

There’s a wince behind the callout. As sure as the region survived the war, so does it suffer from the remnants of their battle. Watching the land become blighted by Ultra Space poison is a sight for sore eyes but that’s why they’re here today. “How long do you think our supplies will last?”

He’s referring to the antidotes. It goes without saying that they understand the manufacturing process well enough to address every patrol but their supplies are not infinite. It’s no longer about how fast they can maintain upkeep but rather how long they’ll have enough materials in reserve.

Fernando remains skeptical on having to rely on only one solution. As potent as the poison is, over time they’ve managed to filter or process it in other ways. Pyukumuku’s PURIFY is a good example. For such a small and harmless looking Pokemon, it proves essential in filtering the water and preventing the infection from spreading further. Watching the purple sludge slowly rescind into the Pokemon’s body is just as vexing as the first time, causing Fernando to stare in fascination until the Pyukumuku squirms with a content squeek.

“Or more importantly, where do we go from here?”

It’s rhetorical at best. Fernando already knows where his priorities lie but on the off-chance that Lucas has a more interesting viewpoint he opens himself to being dissuaded.

At least until his attention is ripped away by the sight of Kyle pulling out his phone.

Poisonous waters were just as dangerous as they were gross-looking. Not only was the murky stinky water repulsive, but touching it alone certainly couldn't be good. Releasing her Mr. Mime, Ruby stood back from the beach as it got to work.

With a name like Mr. Crime, this particular Mr. Mime was quite mischievous and enjoyed playing a nice trick every now and then with his mime abilities. However, even a pokemon as misbehaved as this could see the threat the poisonous waters posed. Where was the fun in tricking everyone if everyone was hurt or ill? No fun at all, that's what.

Stepping forwards towards the beach, Mr. Crime dramatically waved its hand in front of its face, silently pantomiming its distaste for the smell as it began to use its ability FILTER to help separate the poison from the water itself.
