GYM DETAILS

fear grows in the darkness. but without the darkness, we'd never see the stars. welcome challenger to the rustboro city gym, home to the dark type creatures and their handler. with the gym vacant once again and a new gym leader taking over, it has once again been transformed into something else. not much is known about the newer gym, clouded in mystery and a strange eerie aura that gives off a sense of danger when close to it. are you sure you're ready?[break][break]

from the outside, there appears to be nothing to make this gym stand out from the rest of the city. it sits low to the ground, thick metal like plates layered from top to bottom make out the sides. a lone double steel door stand between you and entering the gym. by the exterior, you would assume it's a steel type gym and nothing giving it away other than a neon light dark type symbol in the front centered above the door. if you wish to enter the gym, you must give identification and proof of appointment. yes, you do need to set up an appointment. if you are a well known team rocket member and do not wish to be arrested on sight, give a fake id and maybe a mask if you are that well known. gym is open, day or night.[break][break]

but upon entering, you'll notice how big the place really is. it's dim lighting, even when the sun is at it's peak, doesn't give away how big the place really is. inside the building, you will feel as though you were transported into an under ground cavern. a large circular opening claims the ceiling that reveals the skies at all times of the day and thick green vegetation grows along the walls barely able to see the stone and concrete structure of the place. a few trees stand tall along the outer edge with the branches almost peaking out from the ceiling. a moss covered stone staircase leads you down deeper into the pit until it flattens to a large open, somewhat, flat grassy battlefield. it is down here where your battle will take place as you'll meet maverick at the bottom and ready yourself for a good fight. a licensed league member referee will oversee the battle.[break][break]

there is no limit to the size of pokemon you want to fight with. but if your creature needs a large body of water to fight, tough luck. avian and/or creatures that can 'fly' are welcome. be advised that if they leave the building willingly (aka not thrown out by opponent accidentally or etc), they have forfeited the match.[break][break]

impress and beat maverick in a standard format match will award you with the eclipse badge along with 50 pokedollars and 5 infamy while a non traditional format match will award you with the eclipse badge, 125 pokedollars, and 10 infamy. at this time, there will only be two slots for each standard format and non traditional format. this could change over time. winners will be put in the hall of fame. losers will be given nothing and may re-challenge the gym two months later. damage to property will be on the one who does it. injuries to you or your pokemon is on you. it is recommended to have at least one badge before challenging this gym. however, it is not required.

BATTLING REGULATIONS

standard format[break]
➙ standard format will follow normal battle rules for the site. this will be a single battle with no less than two pokemon and no more than six pokemon. although maverick specializes in three different types, the gym leader will be limited to use creatures that are full or part dark type element only.[break]

non-traditional format[break]
➙ much like standard format, non traditional format will follow normal battle rules for the site as well. you will be able to choose between single battle with three to six pokemon or double battle with four to six pokemon. however maverick will not be the only one limited to dark types, the challenger will be also limited to use pokemon that are full or partial dark typing. ** updated on 1/12/21. ➙ you may only use two moves/actions per pokemon per turn/post. dodging or using an attack to dodge counts as one move (this includes dodge your own teams moves/status). status/heal moves count as one move. use roll command when needed. the moves destiny bond and perish song are not allowed to be used. no legendary, ultra beast, or mythical pokemon are allowed. switching pokemon is allowed but only once per challenge and counts as one move/action. the pokemon that starts the battle can only use one damage move during the first post. please be realistic and let's have fun! ** updated on 2/23/21.

the gym leader wants to see how you handle battling against dark types and in the case of non traditional format, how you use and handle dark types. you better impress him or he will not give out his badge, win or lose. period.
