As the brilliant retribution of its thunder strikes down noble Togekiss, Lugia turns its ire upon Archon. Through Gavin it understands the complexity of a relationship marred by war and treachery... but it does not care.

I AM NO SLAVE.

Of its own volition, it shifts its wings as if to call upon the fury of a second storm. It is only the sudden appearance of Latias that calms the hurricane's herald, her threat resonating gentle but firm. Red eyes burn into half of a whole, as if searching.

THEN NEITHER WILL YOU HARM MINE.

It starts to rain, but the hurricane does not follow.

Gavin, however, is focused entirely somewhere else. Whistle.

Corviknight moves with extreme speed to intercept @archon when he lunges for Theo. It had been primal, instinctual, but it had not been conditioning.

What Gavin had felt, in that moment, was fear.

He leaps from the bird's back, lands hard next to his former mentor and nearly loses his footing. His balance is shot from ringing ears, and it's the sudden weight of Lugia's tail against his side that steadies him.

Miasma spills from him as he allows the legend's dreadful power to take shape, mingling dangerously with Pyre's ghastly fog. The veil here is thin, and perhaps it could be taken as the reason that purple-black shadow curls around the fallen Togekiss in brutal caress. But the valiant fairy, in all of its serene grace, bends not to Pyre's influence but to Gavin's.

He sees it, now, where he had not on Route 113, and begins to understand.

his focus had been on caldwell but the reaction he gives to the whistle is instantaneous. he turns, sees a dark blur rushing towards him, and he clicks just in time for malamar to retract a tentacle back. the attack is intercepted and allows theo to land unharmed.

he signs a 'thank you.'

"we'd welcome you back with open arms, caldwell."

a lie, but it helps set up the TAILWIND. it pales in comparison to the one present, but it does its best to counteract the resistance they feel. malamar's eyes pulse in a HYPNOSIS, targeting caldwell's dragonite.

"your brother misses you."

[attr="class","beck"]something lands, splashes, and attacks. theo doesn't react in time but he doesn't have to — malamar, still suctioned around its trainer, slithers to his aid. a tentacle moves with enough force to offset theo's balance, shifting him enough to avoid being punched, and when another tentacle shoots for angelo vestri, the sudden appearance of a swarm disrupts their vision enough to make the attack miss.

insticintively, he separates, creating distance. at that moment, his eyes flick over to Cillian Quinn, leaving him open enough for the punch to land. the left hook connects square against his jaw, dazing him for moments as he stumbles. he remains on his feet only because malamar stops them from falling with its tentacle.

his hand slams against his belt and from it comes a nidoking. it roars, then immediately rushes forward in an attempt to land its DOUBLE KICK against aggron.

the brief flash is used to create more distance between him and @archon.

"so angry, caldwell."

crobat maintains its distance in the air and sends an AIR SLASH towards @archon.

AND YOU HAVE MINE.

A vow between legends is immediately challenged by the arrow that embeds itself deep within Gavin's shadow. Darkness curls around his ankles and up to his calves, binding, and Lugia's red glare burns with malice.

But the promise holds — it does not direct its wrath to angelo vestri.

WORRY NOT; YOU ARE UNDER MY PROTECTION.

There is something proud and possessive in Lugia's telepathic tone as Gavin struggles, alarmed, to free himself from the shadows that shackle him. The corrupt legend beats its wings and summons a powerful gale within the confined space; at first, there seems to be no effect beyond the winds that snatch at whatever they can reach, but soon the SHADOWS themselves seem to flee from its wrath. SHED of his dark reflection, Gavin stumbles against his patron's tail and narrowly avoids its wicked spikes.

A sharp whistle draws the attention of his Eelektross, and the lithe shadow Pokemon lunges with a WILD CHARGE to intercept the path of a charging Aggron. @archon himself goes ignored, his comment falling upon (quite literally) deaf ears.

Beginning to understand the power bestowed upon him, Gavin turns his attention to the Togekiss, instead. Miasma curls around the fairy in a purple-black shroud; the sound of Gavin's whistle seems to have drawn the Pokemon's gaze.

"Stop them," he growls.

It's louder than it needs to be, for Gavin cannot hear, but it does the trick.

Togekiss sways back and forth like an eerie METRONOME, and the damp air begins to fill with COTTON SPORES. They cling to their foes like parasites, slowing them.

Corviknight, too, answers the call. With a corrupted caw, the metallic avian hurls STEEL feathers from its WINGS toward Billi Marsh's ailing Arbok. Gavin sweeps his arm — as if borne by a foul wind, miasma traces the path of the projectiles and swirls ominously around the injured cobra. A wicked gleam burns in the eyes of Rocket's underboss as he grasps the extent of his intoxicating power.

His gaze shifts to THEO BECKETT, sharp and expectant.
