LILYCOVE'S BEACH suddenly finds itself littered with Pyukumuku. Although they're adorable to see gathered in one place such as this, they are actually quite dangerous. Stepping on one will cause a lot of hurt. For this reason, the League has asked volunteers to help throw the Pyukumuku back. Perhaps, if you're lucky enough, you can sneak in a capture.[break][break]

in order to qualify for the capture, you must ROLL using the ROLL COMMAND. after, INCLUDE A REFERENCE TO CUCUMBERS somewhere in your post. you may use an image, gif, use an analogy, figurative language, etc.
the highest roll will earn a shiny pyukumuku; the second highest roll will earn a regular pyukumuku, and the lowest roll will net a shiny pyukumuku. the gender of the pokemon can be decided by the recipient.
the attempted capture will not consume a pokéball.
the pyukumuku have movesets that will be revealed at the end of the event.
this is a time-limited event and will end june 6th, 12am pst.

There was a LOT OF SHIT HAPPENING ALL AT ONCE, but Chu-e was NOT to be deterred. No, he was going to THROW himself into this Swarm. Even if he had lost past ones. It was the effort that made it matter!

He was actually having a pretty good time flinging the Pyukumuku into the water. He couldn't throw very fast or very far but it was a way to kill the time. Also better than the last few times he had been on lilycove beach and had to deal with rotting whales. Like, twice was weird, right? That it had happened so close together?

Well, maybe.... hmm... maybe... he would try to sneak in a capture... hopefully he wouldn't get caught....

Attack of the Sea Cucumbers!

It was a beautiful summer day, and Soleil had been wanting to sunbathe at the beach, yet her plans had come crashing down at the sudden revelation of a large horde of Pyukumuku. Of course, this hadn't upset Soleil, far from it in fact! She'd found them interestingly adorable, their round bodies and their cute pink spines! Yet it seemed several others had been throwing them back into the ocean—she'd figured that it was probably for their own good, as well as probably for public safety, and with that an anonymous volunteer had joined the midst and started assisting with the rescue effort. The sea cucumber pokémon had felt rather squishy in her hands, a lot less tough than an actual cucumber. She'd known land cucumbers were good for your hair, but she'd wondered if the pyukumuku was the same... maybe nobody if she snuck one away to test her idea—or at least have an adorable friend from now on.[break]

She did not know who would want to eat such a thing, but these Pokemon certainly kind of looked like spiky cucumbers. Then again, they probably looked that way so people would not eat them, despite the colour. Though some of them were black, which in that analogy probably meant they’d gone bad already. Even more reason not to eat them.

Though Eve figured that these things did poise a rather interesting conundrum: those were living beings looking like vegetables. So would a vegetarian be tempted by them? Certainly a possibility. And while she did not exactly eat a lot of meat – mother always complained about that for some reason – she was not completely against that on principle, so she was no authority on the matter.

Ah, well. One way or another, she didn’t want to eat them. She just picked them up with this lasso-staff-contraption – whatever it might be called properly – and flung them back into the sea. All in a day’s work, after all.

"Well goodness, I haven't seen a swarm of sea cucumbers this big in years," the grassy grandma would marvel upon the shoreline of the coastal city upon her companion's back, "the youngins weren't lying, Honeydew! We've gotta help em' get back into the ocean, wee!"[break][break]

The two would descend upon one of the previously cleared sandbeds, allowing for their bundle of riding blankets and equipment to relocate into the sand. Luckily for Valeria it was quite hard and firm, making it not difficult to make her way to the piles and piles of washed-up creatures with her cane; in the meantime, her Tropius would snack on the cucumber sandwiches the granny had tucked away in her bag for later, almost inhaling one after the other. While the playful grass-type would not get caught in the act, it was still just as shameful. He knew damn well he had piles of his favorite fruit waiting for him back at the Fortree Gym.[break][break]

"Oh, look at you!" she would exclaim in awe as she would slowly pick up one of the many Pyukumuku that scuttled at her feet from its bottom-side, raising it to her face to maintain eye contact. It was just so precious how there were clearly no thoughts behind the glistening eyes of the sea pokemon, resonating with its viscous body; making her way back to her belongings she would sit this one in the shade of the Tropius' wings, giving it a small bundle of pokemon food for it to snack on. Potentially taking one cute little sea cucumber home with her couldn't be that bad, after all. While it would begin to munch on the food, Valeria would begin to aggressively chunk the others back into the ocean one by one, trying not to fall over in the process.[break][break]

It was a well-known fact in Skyler Dross's family that there was an age-old grudge between the captain of the Sotally Tober and all Pyukumuku.

The whole thing stemmed from that one time when, at six years old, Skyler got punched in the face by one of the little aquatic critters. One would've thought that child Skyler would've burst into tears, but she'd instead launched the sea cucumber right back into the sea and swore vengeance on it - and on all of its kind.

The memory was still clear as day in her head.

If one thought about it, it actually made perfect sense that the captain would be one of the very first to volunteer when there was Pyukumuku throwing to be done. At least when one tried to punch her now, she also made sure to punch back.

It was all very cathartic.

He was told by some whoever or whatever his name that he would get paid per pyukumuku he tossed back into the ocean. That was all he needed to hear, easy ass money for an easy ass job! Bryan ran up and down the beach tossing them up quickly as humanly possible. [break][break]

This also meant that he was getting a few punches to the face from their innards out abilities but it was nothing he couldn't handle, especially for money!

"A water type pokémon that punches you in the face with, essentially, it's own insides?" Sam glanced over the Pokédex entry and then looked up. An old woman and her giant palm tree of a Pokémon catching his eye more than she did. Another blonde looking like she was having a grudge match-- and was that guy sneaking away with one?

Didn't he realize they were wild? Nearly free? And as long as he was competent he could have one? Maybe not...

But, he owed the beach owner a favor, he owed a lot of people favors and a lot of people owed him favors, so he just quietly told his beldum to burrow into the sand and then launch the sea cucumbers into the air and out into the sea with a take down.

Worked well enough.

It was the same every year for Lilycove Beach. Pyukumuku were breeding like buneary in the warming shoal, swarming Danton's usually peaceful training ground. Eyes alight with righteous fury, Danton dropped two pokeballs to the ground and released Dhelmise and Metagross from their containers. "Galleon...collect them."

The Metagross fired off a couple uses of Agility, then blindly dashed across the beach and kicked pyukumuku towards its trainer. Danton caught them one by one, fastening them to the seaweed draped across Dhelmise's body. Soon enough, the anchor pokemon had its own ecosystem of some 13 pyukumuku all tangled in the kelp. Danton grasped the top of Dhelmise's anchor and gave the strange pokemon a few reassuring pats.

"We'll wait here, Moors." With that, the bulky trainer grabbed the chain of Dhelmise's chain and spun in place, sweeping the anchor into the air. Danton continued to spin in place with both hands on the chain until the force of the anchor's pull rivaled his own strength. Then, he let go.

Danton couldn't have timed the release anymore perfectly. The anchor and the filthy sea cucumbers flew off towards the ocean, crashed past its surface, and sank to the bottom. Danton would wipe his hands off on one another and take a seat in the sand, awaiting Dhelmise's return.

"Disgusting..." Asa grumbled under his breath, gingerly picking his way around the Pyukumukus that had infested what seemed to be the entire beach. Picking one of the water-type Pokemon, its face turned away, he gave it a small toss in his hand and found its weight to be that of an average cucumber, meaning that these guys have been eating well out here in Hoenn's oceans. It made sense to find Pyukumukus thriving here- Hoenn's beaches were quite similar to Alola's, warm and inviting- but it didn't make them any less of an invasive pest. [break]

But whatever. Perhaps taking one of these Hoenn strands back with him would not be such a bad idea, to either study or dissect for more information to add to the dex...[break]

There’s little to do on a moored Sotally Tober when you’re alone and supposed to be recovering with ample of bedrest… Save from sneak out, of course. [break][break]

“I know Mr Dross swears by growing this stuff fresh and not just buying a packet,” he muses to the green blob squelching at his ankle, their pace slow and languid as they stroll along the beachfront. Angelo’s legs itch to take a faster stride but with Sammy crawling beside him, it makes for a good excuse to take it easy. His burn wounds would thank him for it, at least. “But I dunno if its survival rates are all that promising… How long d’you bet until Morelull trades the terrarium in for it or Dorado shreds it or something?”[break][break]

In one – almost healed – hand a grocery bag swings and in his other a potted herb is cradled close. Tangy, earthy tones drift from the dill. [break][break]

Angelo had spent a lot of time over the last couple of weeks in the company of a certain Captain’s father; coming away from the visits often with ideas for cooking and a strange new repertoire on herbs… [break][break]

He’s absorbed enough in the one-sided conversation with the Gulpin that Angelo doesn’t quite notice the Pyukumuku situation until he almost stands on one. It’s green and looks a little like another skyler dross egg sandwich special. [break][break]

Naturally, he awkwardly stumbles out of the way because you just can’t take the chance of exposing yourself to one of those. (Laurence Anderson and Razz Kingsman would back him up on this.) Releasing a string of profanities as his healing back protests at the sharp jolt in his misstep.[break][break]

A cucumber bounces out of his bag. Naturally, with motives to help and not devour at first opportunity, his assistant wiggles forward to suck up the runaway fruit-vegetable-green-thing. [break][break]

“Sammy! Don’t! That’s not a cucumber!” [break][break]

Weird-looking Pokémon.

Apparently they were the fucking scourge in a region far away from Hoenn, but—

They had other ideas.

Whose smart idea was it to abandon a Pyukumuku in the wild to let them multiply like mad?! Now they were close to teetering to being an ‘invasive species’ and this was getting out of hand!

Lars thought he saw one familiar head of blonde hair chucking them with such ferocious anger he had to bite back a laugh once he realized who he’d spotted.

“Might throw your back out there, Sky!” he joked a few moments later, picking up one of the strange… cucumber-like things.

Nope, there was no fucking way they could be turned into sushi. They didn’t look like they were edible.

At least, not like the cucumber sushi he was thinking of. What was it called again?

He then looked at the thing he was holding. Was it…was it twitching?!

Plus the fact they could give someone a black eye when whoever was holding them was caught unaware?!

Hella nope!

Lars then began chucking as many as he could back into the deeper saltwater. Yikes.

kaz took a bite out of his cucumber as he watched people chuck some of these little sea urchins back into the sea like it was a game. it honestly looked like a lot of fun so he decided to join in once he swallowed the last of his cucumber in one final gulp and dashed into the sand. trying to prove that he could go beyond what was asked of him and grab two of them with each of his hands and throw them back into the sea as hard as he could. with each toss he would grab two more and continue the game of tossing these little sea cucumbers

The blunt end of his staff would block an attempt by the little sea creature to punch his teeth out. He had seen one of these little buggers before during his honeymoon with Izumi in Alola. And he'd been clocked then. He wouldn't be clocked now. "Back into the sea, you crazy cucumber" he remarked as he lifted the thing by the staff and yeeted it off into the sea. This was a strange assignment for the Ranger, but it wasn't the worst he'd ever gone through, he supposed.

Though this may well be one of the most dangerous he had ever gone on. Forget the whole thing with Melmetal. These things were ready and willing to break bones, and they were everywhere.
