"Martín," he repeated, only slurring his words a little bit. He was determined to commit it to memory, though. As they exchanged handshakes, Dom felt a tenacious tug at his pant leg. It took him a moment to register it—the squawks certainly helped guide his attention—but when he looked down, he caught sight of a very serious-looking Delibird, Pokeball in hand. Or... wing. Dom blinked at him. "For me? Thank you so much." He took the Pokeball gingerly and gave Moroz a quick pat on the head.[break][break]

He turned his attention back to Martín del Mar as the man thanked him for his service. Shifting his elbow onto Matilda Greenlaw's shoulder, he started to lean onto her a bit more than was probably necessary. He grinned at Mars. "Thank you, that's very kind. Honestly, I'm just happy to do the work. I love it." His brow furrowed for a moment. Polite conversation, Dom. "Mmm, and what do you do?" Nailed it.

Alexei Ivanov is seen off with a smile and a wave and another shot of Bailey's into his glass. Whoops! Well, what's the harm. It's a holiday, right? Luka starts mixing a few more mugs when Eris Halla presents her...well, her present![break][break]

"Eh? For me, really?Now it's Luka's turn to be rendered speechless and almost brought to tears by the thoughtfulness of Eris' wonderful gift. "Thank you, it's beautiful! I'll treasure it forever," she promises, patting the younger girl on the head before she rushes off.[break][break]

Okay, okay! Who next? She receives the gift from BARNABY FINCH, just as touched to be receiving such kindness from a stranger. And she'd love to get to know the man better herself! She'd like to pass that goodwill forwards, and is looking for another unfamiliar face to bless when Locke Jamison stops by the hot chocolate stand.[break][break]

"I do, yes!" Her tastes are really that apparent, huh? Luka laughs softly as she accepts the gift, and offers one of her own. "You're not leaving here empty handed! I thought, maybe this little one can help with your delivers? If they don't get swallowed first..."[break][break]

As for where Eris is, she has no idea, and can only shrug. "Good luck with your search, I'll keep an eye out!"

Growing a bit tired of handing out boozed up hot chocolate, Luka starts to wander around, meeting up with her Lopunny who's still out distributing gifts. She decides to join forces with her rabbit and follows her towards her next destination, a little group huddled around and chatting.[break][break]

She grins and waves with one hand, the other still cradling her cocoa. Martín del Mar of course she can flit beside just fine, cozying up to her friend while still unaware of the implications Matilda Greenlaw had made about their relationship.[break][break]

It would seem as if Dominic Grey may have had a little too much to drink, but at a party like this that much is to be expected, isn’t it? Mars himself swirls the mulled wine in his glass as they talk, taking a sip a moment before being asked a question that is just as expected in this sort of situation:

Dom is new to the region, after all, he may not have seen all of the commercials in which Mars himself appears from time to time, even if these days most of them feature luka chêne as a model instead.

Among many other things, of course, but with branches in every city and town of the region and all the ads with cute Meowths everywhere, POG Bank can sometimes be rather recognizable. And speaking of their cute Meowths…

”Alexei! You shouldn’t have!” It’s with a bright and perfect smile that Mars takes the gift coming from Fortree’s gym leader, giving the man a pat on the back. ”I’m glad to hear the donation has helped, and to see that you’re doing better. Happy holidays.”

But while Alexei gets a pat on the back, what luka chêne gets when she approaches is an arm around her instead, even if Mars is well aware of the assumptions Matilda Greenlaw had made a moment earlier. ”Luka, cherie, you’re always welcome. How’s the gift-giving going? Thank you, by the way.” He’s all too casual about it, and as if to emphasise his thanks, there’s a quick and gentle peck on her cheek. Is he tipsy or is that just his Kalosian upbringing showing itself?

Too bad Mars’ own Delibird approaches as if to interrupt the moment, but it seems its job is not done just yet. It has one last pokéball give, this one being offered to Dominic Grey.

A prompt denial met Barnaby's offer for a replacement drink. Felix couldn't allow his senses to dull tonight, especially since the carolers had dispersed into their own mini clusters of festivities. Some even sent Pokémon to one another - supposedly to deliver gifts they weren't able to walk 2 feet and personally deliver themselves.

The soft, and admittedly unexpected, touch of Barnaby sent a ripple of electricity down his shoulder. "Hm?" His voice came out hoarse. Rough. "...Oh." Wordlessly, he obeyed the hinted command and followed the journalist through the mouth of the mansion's entrance, and to an isolated location safe from the merry conversations of the group. He took a seat on the plush couch, beside Barnaby.

"A little something to show my appreciation."

Surprise glossed Felix's features as he reluctantly accepted the decorative luxury ball from Barnaby. His thumbs traced its design, slowly inching across its accented red outline and green trimming, while his eyes kept glued to the golden button in its center. "..."

Mouth dry, a hint of pink left on his cheekbones, the silent bodyguard raised his gaze back to the journalist, an unknown twinkle set in his eye. But, just as his mouth opened to reply, a noisy delibird peeked his head out from the doorway, giving a light squawk before waddling towards them.

Despite the Pokemon's intention, a touch of frustration grew at Felix's brows, as it graciously gave both him and Barnaby a present from its bag. The note attached only added fuel to the flame.

Without skipping a beat, Felix fished out a pen from his pocket and flipped the note to it's blank side. Then, after a quick scribble, he returned the paper to the pokemon. "Return this."

Two other Delibirds followed this one, each one appearing a millisecond after Felix opened his mouth again, preventing him from ever speaking a single word to the other. He accepted each gift, of course, but a scowl never left his face.

Once the last Delibird scrambled away, he released a deep sigh and returned his gaze back to the blonde. Finally, they were alone again. "Thank you...for the gift, I mean." He began, his lips lifted into a soft smile. Unbeknownst to the other, this (or these) were the first Christmas gifts he had been given in years. It normally never made much of a difference - the holidays were always a hassle to get through regardless of the gifts - but...he couldn't deny the warm feeling this single luxury ball gave him.

Unfortunately, that warm feeling was quickly drowned in horror. "...I'm sorry." His voice grew quiet - edging on a whisper, "I don't typically celebrate Christmas, so I don't have anything for you right now..."

As they started running out of people to give presents to, a silent headcount told Locke they’d missed an unfamiliar face next to Melody Miro and FERNANDO SILPH and backtracked towards that group. ”Sorry, didn’t see ya earlier,” they told Caprice Isaac before handing the blonde stranger a Pokéball. ”Merry Christmas!”

He gave one last look around. There was only one person present in the room he hadn’t given a gift to yet, and still no sign of Eris Halla. Dejected, Locke returned to the group he’d started the party with, who had all congregated around the punch bowl at this point, sighing as he approached.

Luka squeaks a little as she's pulled in by Martín del Mar, but doesn't protest. The kiss to her cheeks is met with a blush and another soft sound of surprise, but she plays it off and gives a chaste smooch right back. The holiday spirit has probably affected Mars as much as everyone else.[break][break]

And by that, of course, she's referring to the free-flowing alcohol.[break][break]

"Oh gosh, you're more than welcome! It's really the least I can do, after you've done so much for me!" she says, smile twinkling as brightly as the fairy lights that glimmer all around them. "And um, it's nice to properly meet the two of you! I'm Luka," she introduces with a nod of her head.[break][break]

"I hope you're all enjoying yourselves!" Which includes the recently joined Locke Jamison as well. "Monsieur Calcifet worked really hard, I think! Though I'm not sure where he's gone off to now..."[break][break]

Meanwhile, Luka's Lopunny is out on a mission to finish distributing presents! Her little Santa cape flutters around her as she bounces over to Felix Gallagher and BARNABY FINCH, once again providing an interruption and poor timing but like please forgive me I GOTTA GET THESE PRESENTS DELIVERED.[break][break]

She huffs a sigh and has another sip of her cocoa. Even having spent most of the morning at the estate helping to prepare everything, Luka can still barely find her way around. Sending out a search party for Remiel Calcifet might just result in all of them disappearing.[break][break]

Speaking of which...a slight concern washes over her face as she notes Locke Jamison's glum expression. Mars seems to have picked up on it too. "Are you still looking for Eris?" she asks, craning her neck herself. The girl is nowhere in sight. "I'm so sorry, I shouldn't have let her run off...I'm sure she's around here somewhere! Maybe she'll run into Monsieur Calcifet! I'm sure he won't let anything bad happen to her.[break][break]

Bonbon's next stop is Melody Miro and FERNANDO SILPH. The cotton candy rabbit bounds up to them, handing Melody's gift over first. It's been chosen with care, a water type that'll hopefully go well with the gym leader's other Pokémon.[break][break]

Locke nodded with a pitiful expression. ”I’ve got one more gift for her, but I can’t find her anywhere,” They admitted as they reached for the punch. ”I’ve been holdin’ on to it for a while actually…”

The haphazard concoction definitely didn’t compare to luka chêne’s cocoa mixture, burning their throat the same way the highball had and leaving that unpleasantly-bitter taste on their tongue. Locke set the cup aside after a few coughs, not quite ready for a second sip.

Truth be told, despite the way he may often act, Mars isn’t the type of person who often cares much about most people. It had been that way with luka chêne once even if they called themselves friends, but at some point or another she had managed to find her way into his heart. Things with Locke Jamison are different, yet the honest concern is there all the same – perhaps because of all the strange things they have gone through together.

Dom smiled at luka chêne as she approached. They'd decorated that tree together. It was really pretty. The Lopunny walking with her caught his attention, and he turned his smile to the Pokemon as she extended a delightfully pink Pokeball.[break][break]

"I usually don't really like parties," he admitted to Luka as he took the Pokeball from the Lopunny. "Thank you, this is very kind. But this party isn't so bad. You're right, everyone looks so happy!" He blinked as Martín del Mar planted a kiss on Luka's cheek and thanked her for the gift. Feeling immediately as if he'd made a severe cultural misstep, Dom looked between the two. "Am... are we supposed to kiss people that give us gifts?" He gave the Lopunny a sideways glance, then looked around for the Delibird that he'd seen earlier. Oh, there he was—no, wait this one was giving him a different gift. He muttered a thank you, squinting at it. No. Don't kiss the Pokemon, Dom. He realized, leaning further onto Matilda Greenlaw's shoulder, that he didn't even know who these gifts were coming from.[break][break]

Guess he'd have to kiss everyone. That was only fair, right?[break][break]

To start, he planted a smooch on the top of Tilly's head. One down. It was at that moment that he caught sight of Locke Jamison approaching the group. He grinned and held out a hand. "Dominic Grey. I'm a ranger." Instead of a handshake, he found a Pokeball pressed into his palm. He looked at it closely at first, squinting hard. "Thank you for this, it's very nice. I... I think we're supposed to kiss?"
