Quagsire wasn't exactly Nathara's favorite pokemon so sending it of to do manual labor was the closest thing to punishment she could find that didn't seem unnecessary cruel or abusive. However Quagsire was completely oblivious to any and all aspects of this and couldn't help but wonder where it was, why it was and what it was even supposed to be doing.

Rubbing it's rubbery hide momentarily it looked at the excess snow on the ground what was it even supposed to be doing. The creatures beady eyes searched for a form of familiarity, it could hear the sound of water, but couldn't see it beyond the thick white sediment that built up in front of it. It figured the water was coming somewhere off it's right shoulder, it turned, continuing to scratch itself out habit as it let out a long and slow "Quaag." before burying it's palms into the snow and throwing it aside, moving it's hips side to side as it did. Developing a rhythm and singing it's own merry song, Quagsire continued to burrow through the snow, clearing an unnecessary and oddly shaped pattern that looked like unevenly set beads on a necklace it soon reached the promised land.

Jumping head first into the water and lazing about in the frigid sea.

While it was not the most magnificent job, the pokemon had performed it's job and cleared an open path between the road leading to Slateport and the water left of the cycling path.

SILPH CO. often offers its services in the form of pokemon labor. a vast collection of pokemon do more than laze around. they find their work in the labs, on the field, and at his gym. those without a regular duty are often rented to assist other organizations.

mauville’s cycling road is key to transportation in and out of slateport. like the many trucks that make their deliveries, so too does the quagsire dump brown, muddled snow off the bridge and into the water below.

Skyler had never found reason to spend much time in the Cycling Road, even before the Three Day War had claimed part of it. Now she usually kept herself too busy with her job to visit, ocean-bound by choice (for the most part).

When the captain releases Svernos into the frigid road, she stays long enough to convey a few commands, to make sure the Garchomp understands the task ahead - and then her unruly mass of golden curls disappears between the trees.

Svernos huffs, a remnant of defiance breathed into a brief cloud of vapor. Tiny pupils shrink against the glare of the sun, but the Garchomp ends up shuffling along. Mud and sludge are slowly pushed to the side to make way for easy transit.

the cold was one of its natural enemies. it was only a given that the claydol was cautious on its approach on the job assigned to it.

it keeps itself from the cold touch of frost by levitating above it. it does not need to touch any of it either, for it possesses the abilities of a psychic-type to move things without physical contact.

when psychic doesn't work as much as it had intended it to be, the claydol resorts to earth power instead.

a blast from the ground throws the snow accumulated by the cycling road off to the side, to be dissolved with the waters the road was built over. it was faster that shoveling, but of course, much more erratic.

Normally Barnaby wouldn't care about Cycling Road being closed down. He wasn't much of a cyclist, after all.

But one of his coworkers, an avid biker (one of those people like Martín del Mar who woke up abysmally early in the morning to exercise), had been complaining for weeks that his routine had been ruined. Barnaby was tired of the guy's complaints, so he sent over his MAMOSWINE to finally complete the clearing of the road.

The giant boar was put to work as soon as he arrived. Henrí was harnessed to a makeshift shoveling contraption, similar to a snow plow. He worked to clear the middle of the road, displacing the bulk of the mud and snow, so that the smaller workers could move deeper into the worksite.

His bulk and large physique were perfect for the job. Massive strength was needed to move massive amounts of ground. What creature could possibly do a better job than him? None, and he made sure those around him knew it.

Time to get some money again.

And, how hilariously ironic and fitting—he had exactly one Pokémon that fit the bill!

(Never mind if he didn’t let the Donphan out that often due to how destructive they could get when left unattended.)

Once he’d left the Pokémon with very specific instructions to help the people clear out the snow, and that he’d be back by the end of the day, the Donphan set to work…

…running around with their head bowed down and just, basically, shoving as much snow out of the way as they could manage before they got a premature case of brain freeze and had to stop and recover for a few minutes!

Well, at least the monotony helped the Donphan get settled into some sort of routine…

Why was it always the lazy Swampert that got sent on these jobs?

Well, despite its laziness, its Trainer knew that it was reliable. And Dunamus could afford to get some exercise once in awhile. But seriously, moving mud and snow? This seemed like such a simple thing to make it get up and out of the ranch for. Well, at least there was mud involved. That wasn’t too bad, and maybe it could sneak in a mud bath before the Trainer arrived to pick them up. That would show him.

Of course, everything Dunamus then did was over-dramatized. When it shovelled snow, it YEETED it. It was going to make it clear that fine, it would do it. But it was going to complain the whole time!
