Granted, much less hilarious when considering that it’s the name of a general belonging to an invading alien species that almost destroyed Hoenn as we know it, but still, hilarious name.

So, with that in mind, it begs the question: why is the League hiring just anyone to help with the transfer of such a dangerous woman… creature… thing?

Mars could ask, but that wouldn’t be nearly as productive as saying he’s “Happy to help.” and send his Drowzee to get a good look at both Smohke’s new prison and the whole situation.

Was the League out of its mind?

In their infinite wisdom, the League decided to hire contractors for the sensitive job of transferring Smohke, the one Megalopolan General they managed to secure, to another prison. They claimed to be worried about outside threats attempting to break her out. The claimed reason was that bleeding heart morons didn't think her imprisonment was justified, despite being the general to a cannibalistic alien army that attempted to take their world.

But the fact that they seemed to hire anyone, with little due diligence in background checks, told him that the threat would come from the inside. The fact that he managed to easily get in as Daisuke Hayashi, with little scrutiny from the League, did no favors for them.

This just about summed up why he left the League.

Cobalt, the Lucario, with as strong Focus as ever, constantly scanned his surroundings. Filtering out the distractions around him, he would watch for any sort of trouble, whether from within or without.

at least he's one of the less problematic mightyena kyle has.

charlie was a pokemon that never left either kyle's side or his property. for anyone that knew the champion, sending a mightyena he favors more than the others was already foretelling. he looked the same as any other mightyena though, so no distinction can be made.

he follows the rest in the same manner as every other pokemon, blending in with the rest in its companions. although every stride was relaxed and casual, eyes as sharp as daggers stare at its surroundings with laser focus.

the mightyena wasn't trained for battle in the first place, but for security and police assistance. if there were any pokemon more suited for the job, it was him.

that, and he's league's consistency plan in case something doesn't work out the way it's intended for a high profile case.

Its trainer had not voiced any thoughts on the choices made by the League; he simply gave it its task.

Whatever happened, it would see it to completion.

Standing furthest back from their quarry, it could see each and everyone of its companions' backs as they trekked their way towards the new prison, its laser focus sharp enough it could see Cutiefly buzzing about from several hundred meters away, and hear the pinecones drop down to the forest floors in the woods surrounding their path.

It was typical of the raven haired woman to sent her pokemon out to do the dirty work while she reaped the rewards. So when Genesis asked her to do this job for her, it came to no surprise to the poison and flying type. And honestly, it didn’t seem that hard anyway. Guard the prisoner while being transported, be sure she doesn’t escape and nothing intervenes. Easy enough.

The Crobat was put on overhead scouting duty. It made sense. She was the only one who could fly. Still, she would be lying if she wasn’t annoyed by it. The Crobat hovered several feet off the ground in flight above the convoy, two set of wings fluttered with ease while her eyes remained vigilant. Using her INNER FOCUS to keep a sharp on from above, the bat like pokemon was ready for anything that might come their way.

René was finally given an assignment worthy of his knightly valor and upbringing. This was no weeding in a farmer's field, but a proper opportunity to showcase his skills. Guard duty, with the aim of protecting a convoy transporting an infamous war criminal.

When Barnaby had seen the posting online he'd raised a questioning brow, surprised that so important a task was left to public contractors. It had intrigued him enough to send his SCIZOR to the task, which he knew was perfectly suited for the gallant bug.

Under the burden of his master's expectations, René's Laser Focus served him well. Every rustle of leaves, every snapped twig, every suspicious cooing of birds, was met with skepticism and investigated thoroughly. There would be no ambush on this day, he'd make sure of that.

It's a strange enough occurrence to even give Luka pause. Although when she sees the names of some volunteers, she relaxes slightly. The champion and a gym leader are trustworthy indeed. And her good friend Martín del Mar has volunteered as well! It's nice to see that the task is in the hand of such good, well meaning people.[break][break]

And so, Luka's haughty Mienshao makes another triumphant appearance. But rather than showing off her fighting prowess, this time her task is far better suited to the illustrious, overgrown ermine. Under her watchful eye there is not a step taken out of line, no whisker out of place. Her inner focus keeps her senses sharp and alert, and her steps nimble.[break][break]

Should anyone or anything attempt to interfere with the transfer, they're sure to be met with swift and unrelenting punishment.

WHY WOULD THE LEAGUE ENTRUST THIS JOB TO JUST ANYONE?

they don’t.

there are a multitude of reasons. some practical. some bureaucratic. but to simplify the entire case as an open entry for the common people is an outsider’s perspective. the practicality and politics that remain hidden behind the framework is locked away behind the very bars that hold smohke captive.

all that matters is who’s in the containment unit with her. while the other pokemon remain outside, it is fernando’s personal weavile, that keeps watch over the restrained megalopolan.

in the same manner it had held down the previous underboss, it keeps its claws ready, honed and razor sharp. should it come to it, the pokemon is more than willing to rip out her throat. and, in the grand scheme of things, she’s more useful dead than alive.

but to kill a captive and unarmed prisoner in cold blood is a grievance that not even a councilman can get away with unscathed. however, should her captivity be under threat, such as an organized breakout during her transport, execution becomes a drastic but acceptable measure.

it’s not a promise but the closer fernando gets to adding another megalopolan to his devices, the better.
