kyle drops his rockruff on the floor gently, his head pondering about as he is now free to direct his nose to the new scents of the contest hall.

"alright rocky, let's see your best," he ushers the rockruff before looking at the crowd. "everyone cheer for him! he's doing his best against stage fright!"

a lot of encouraging message comes from the crowd. some were incoherent cheers of pure adoration while others were legit messages of encouragement for the young pokemon. though the pokemon doesn't need them, the crowd doesn't need to know and all kyle wants is the interaction between them and the pokemon on the spotlight.

he cups an ear with a hand and listens to the volume of the crowd. as they reach a certain rowdiness, kyle turns to his rockruff, forms a gun with his hand, and shoots the air with a soft "bang" from him.

the rockruff joins the chorus with the howl, harmonizing everything in one coherent song.

"looks like you guys got to him. thanks!"

he walks up to the answer in the most clumsy dog waddle and takes the answer. cheering continues, until it turns to a celebration once the rockruff has chosen one particular choice of the rest.

"WOAH, that's a totally stellar response!" she broke character for a split second, about to say how totally tubular the insight of the munchlax was but she cleared her throat and down the line the contestants went, getting their own personal input from the crowd and judges before @micah pulled the microphone to her lips, humming the first vowel of her thought dramatically.[break][break]
"AAAAAND NOW we have to ask our contestants to do their final pen strokes before finishing up the test! Whose score will show them to be on top and who's bottom of the class?!" It seemed to be a fairly tight competition, aside from a few confused blinks and stares here and there for ... someone in specific. Ahem. "Let's give it up for our contestants one final time. No matter who wins or loses, our kiddos here can pull a lot from our coordinator talents!"

It seems that a particularly curly-haired judge's eyes sparkle wide with delight. "MOMMY, I WANT IT!" he squeals with joy, already reaching his hands towards the cute little munchlax that seemed to miss the mark on how smart the mother needed her child's partner pokemon to be. The mother pulls the child back, whispering a soft 'sorry' to Andrea as she helps her red-haired son scribble down notes after the pokefan's performance. It seems the entirety of the panel is also marveling, though this kid is certainly a diehard fan of Andrea's from this point on.

The oldest child at the panel of judges seems to have taken a particular liking to Cato's munchlax. The little tie it was wearing was similar to the one the seemingly uppity young man was also donning on his outfit. Exchanging glances with his father, he seemed a bit shy to admit but he leaned towards the stage. It wasn't easy to make out what he was saying due to the crowd's cheers but he was mouthing a 'that's a really cool pokemon' to Cato, clapping his hands excitedly for more before going to write down his score neatly.

A snot-nosed child had been bawling her eyes out since the start of the show, obviously terrified of the ghost-type pokemon despite his cute outfit. Once Dussy started to go about his performance, however, her tune changed and she was saying some garbled words to her dad while tugging on his sleeves - wiping her snot on them while the tired man just sighed and wrote down the appropriate score for having at least helped his child calm down.

"Hahaha there's no way!" a proud son of a tired mother exclaimed. He seemed to be in high spirits, tugging on his mother's long skirt with a 'did you see that?' and 'woah!'s throughout Mars's performance. The young man couldn't believe that Mars was part of any really big and 'boring' group, instead excitedly vibrating in his seat for more. His mother gave Mars a half-hearted wave and patted her kid on the head while he showed a really big '55' in indigo marker on his paper like he was grading a gymnast's routine.

A bright-eyed little girl was sitting with her mouth grinning from ear-to-ear at the start of Kyle's performance. That smile was short-lived, however, as she didn't seem to quite understand. The howl move seemed to be a good appetizer indeed, as she was left confused but still wanting more. With a quick scribble, she started to write down her score. The child's dad seemed to still be staring forward, as if waiting for the next round though he seemed anticipating Kyle's turn as well.

"Ohmigod," a little girl in the panel squealed, excitedly pulling her mother who also seemed to marvel at the adorable togepi. The two seemed to be much more fans of cuter pokemon, moved by its correct answer in terms of how much they seemed to love it and Luka. "Your pokemon's the best!" she declared to Luka as she started to write down her score on her piece of paper. With a wide smile, she quickly put down the paper again when she was done to continue reaching out to the togepi as if she would be able to caress it, a small 'aaaa!' emanating from her as if adoring a dog from a distance.

"Illusions?" The little boy at the judge panel seemed to be tapping his pen against his paper, unsure what to give the performance in terms of rating. He had loved it and it was plain to see in the way he seemed to be kicking his leg impatiently for an answer from his own brain. "IS IT FUCKING LATIAS?!" It seemed this kid was also a fan of the legendary pokemon, but his mother was quick to give the child a less-than-tender whack on the head with her open palm as to tell him to watch his manners. The mother gave a small 'sorry' as the kid grumbled and started writing down his score. Nobody had a clue about what was going on still, let alone really assume a legendary was in their midst.

Having turned an abysmal blunder into a one-way ticket to the top, Andrea gleefully waved back at the curly-haired kid that had become their biggest fan. "You can have a Pokémon too someday, little man! Every kid can embark on a journey by the age of 10. But remember! The most important thing when raising Pokémon... is LOVE!" She exclaimed, spreading her arms far and wide as if to give the entire audience a big, affectionate hug.

When the applause had died down, giving way to awkward silence, another bead of sweat hovered over her head, as she side-glanced at her Munchlax. "I SAID! The most important thing when raising Pokémon is LOVE!" She repeated through gritted teeth.

Doraemon looked at his trainer with that clueless, blank stare of his, which was only accentuated by his glasses.

"Do that thing we rehearsed!" The young PokéManiac discreetly whispered, at which point the baby sloth-bear-cat thing finally remembered his cue. His pudgy body glowed with a pink aura, before he released his Secret Power into the air, briefly forming a heart-shaped wave of energy.

Andrea picked Doraemon up in her arms, and bowed before the audience and judges. "Thank you all for your support and your love!"

Their closing performance also served as CLEVER foreshadowing of an upcoming event, but that was neither here nor there.

From the loud crowd to the boisterous presenters, everything did seem a little overwhelming. But the moment Cato caught sight of one of the crowd members mouthing that his Munchlax was cool. His lips curled into a flattered yet awkward smile as he gave his partner a gentle pat on the head. Not only was he a good assistant, but he seemed to be doing his best out on the stage. With the second display came an attempt to really wow the crowd. With that in mind, the most clever thing Cato could think of was the routine that he'd practiced with his Munchlax before.

"Let's show the crowd just how clever you are, little one. Give them a substitute, face in the crowd-style."

The Munchlax gave a nod and quickly disappeared into a puff of smoke. It seemed to completely disappear from the stage in itself. Though the sound of startled screams followed by laughter came as the Munchlax carefully disguised itself as a plush of @pippa's Duskull and tossed itself within the crowd. It disappeared in another puff of smoke before it was caught, only to reappear on the other side of the crowd, disguising itself as a Rockruff plush to imitate kyle lopez's partner pokemon. In one final cloud of smoke, Munchlax reappeared on the stage itself and gave a simple bow. The way it moved so quickly and managed to disguise itself in its substitution caused the crowd to applaud in pure surprise at how calculated the Munchlax's work had been.

Kids are such bad judges. This is why his contest has no children among its judging panel. But, do you really think one completely mid score is enough to kill Mars and Coin’s spirits? NO WAY! In fact, how about we do another costume change...

Stage lights move all around for a few seconds before settling down, and from speakers, Gonna Fly Now by Bill Conti begins to play. On cue with the music, P.O.G Bank’s CEO and his golden Meowth quite literally run onto the stage. Or, well, it’s more like they jog, since the INDIGO TRACKSUIT Mars wears — along with Coin’s indigo HEADBAND — make it clear that all of this is part of their performance.

When they come to a stop, they’re standing on a yoga mat each, and of course, their hands (paws, in Coin’s case) are dramatically placed on their hips — every movement being perfectly synchronised thanks to much much practice.

”Healthy body, healthy mind!” Mars says through the small microphone pinned to his tracksuit. ”It takes a lot to be clever, and that also means exercise! Coin, let’s show the audience our best stretches, shall we?”

He’s not even joking. They actually begin a dramatic, perfectly synchronised, and incredibly exaggerated stretching routine. Through it, the “watch” at the banker’s wrist begins to glow, revealing itself to actually contain a KEYSTONE attuned to the mega stone worn by the Meowth at its collar. MEGA EVOLUTION takes over the stage, and with every pose the feline performs, it actually begins to stretch more and more and more....

Finally, with its body elongated to an absurd and hilarious degree, the golden Meowth somehow still manages to stand proudly despite the way it totally defies logic. Its ears flick, its body sways, and it greets the audience with a loud and deep ”MEOWTH~”

Mars smirks, pointing ahead.

”And remember… Those who work hard ALWAYS get their reward!”
[break][break]
Only then is a move used. Enhanced by Mega Evolution, Coin’s PAY DAY summons hundreds… thousands… millions of golden amulets that rain down upon the stage and fall as if a ceaseless and incredibly luxurious rain. The banker pulls an indigo umbrella seemingly out of thin air, and after opening it to shield himself from the rain of coins, he waves at the audience.

The light shimmered around the fairy as the illusion faded away, starting from the back and gathering up towards her mouth in a swirling sphere. The Mist Ball was then launched high above the stadium, where it exploded into a sparkling display that rained all around the now-revealed Latias.

the crowd gives a positive reaction from each contestant. kyle is relieved, which results to the least thought of final round from the complacency that he has already placated the audience.

the rockruff enters the field, and without further ado, lets out a shine that illuminates the area. it barks and yips, filling the stage with happy dog noises.

"it's time for happy hour!"

both pokemon and audience alike cheer as they reach their happy hour of the day, because ultimately, the show was aimed to provide happiness over anything anyways.

winning was just optional, kyle tells himself.

That's not bad at all for baby's first contest![break][break]

No matter how Toffee places, Luka is infinitely proud of her cute little boy. He'd done his best and even came up with the right answer, the clever little thing! And he's clearly enjoying himself just as much as some of the children in the audience seem to. Luka pays particular attention to the little girl who seems to be their fan, making a note to try and find her after the show so she can meet Toffee in person.[break][break]

But first, they need to close out the final round! There's more cheering as Luka and Toffee appear back onstage, the Togepi once again cradled in his trainer's arms. But Luka is quick to try and shush the audience as gently as possible as the lights begin to dim. The ambiance becomes warm and comforting, and the same lullaby that had introduced the pair begins to filter through the sound system once again.[break][break]

"I'd like to thank you all for coming out to see Toffee's very first contest performance!" Luka begins, and the Togepi chirrups softly and waves his little arms out at the crowd. "But as you can see, all this excitement has tuckered the little guy out!"[break][break]

The lullaby continues as Toffee yawns adorably, beginning to tuck himself back into his shell. But that doesn't mean their performance is over just yet! "Babies need plenty of rest to grow up big and strong...and clever, too! Perhaps next year, you can see him all grown up! But for now, we'd like to send you off with some well wishes, and to share a few lovely dreams with you. Everyone's done so amazing, so make sure to show them your support as well!"[break][break]

It's a bit of a stretch to call this a dream eater, perhaps, but this is a contest so who's gonna find fault in a few creative liberties? So instead of stealing dreams, Toffee instead shares those of all his fellow performers. Andrea Benoit, @cato, @pippa, Martín del Mar, kyle lopez, and Locke Jamison...they and their Pokemon can be seen projected in dreams above the stage, each reacting joyously to winning the contest, or having a nice snack, or playing around with their trainer— whatever their heart's desire might be![break][break]

And the main dream displayed is Toffee playing with all his other Togepi friends, cuddling up with Luka, winning the contest ribbon with her. It's a pure and innocent little display, absolutely bursting with love between all parties.[break][break]

"I truly hope that this coming year is a beautiful dream for all of you," Luka says as the projections begin to fade, and Toffee enters his own little dreamworld. "We love you all so much, thank you!"

"and now, for the grand finale!" but it was not the finale. due to the order of turns, pippa was just accentuating dussy's own final move - a spectacular array of fireworks formed by night shade that settled softly upon the crowd. this was meant to distract the masses as duskull found itself sitting cutely upon the C button to make its choice. when the button didn't move, both pippa and her pokemon were flustered. hoping to still have a bit of time, dussy forcefully shoved its face down onto the bottom and this seemed to work since it may be its most corporeal part of its body.[break]
with jazz hands and all, the trainee coordinator found herself posing with her duskull - bright grin intact as she waved a final time to her green sea.

The judges seemed to be wanting to climb out of their chairs and approach the stage to give each coordinator a high-five but, of course, this wasn't allowed. Instead, the parents went into overdrive trying to coax their children back into their seats and started helping them tally the scores of each contestant.[break]
"Let's give it up for our winner --" cue the ever-needed drumroll, "MISS Andrea Vaneau !"[break][break]
And on this day it seemed that RED was victorious. With a snap of @micah 's fingers, all the glowsticks turned the color of the winner, honoring her hard-earned victory over the others. The new rose sea rippled with joy, all types of fans hooting and hollering for the pokefanatic who seemed to have won many more fans on this day. In this union of hopes and joy, it seemed everyone was a winner though of course there could only be one.[break][break]
"And second place is our @cato !" [break][break]
Polite clapping broke out, though some even dared to shout out a 'good show!' or 'excellent work!'. Doraemon and the office-bound munchlax seemed to show this was a munchlax only event though the other contestants were fantastic in their approach, as shown through the judges who each seemed to have their favorites. In a turn of events, the stage had to be cleared quickly however due to the appearance of a legendary that seemed to make all the fans gasp and hold their faces in disbelief. Was that even allowed? Legally, yes, so there was no problem. It was just quite a bit for a lot of people, including the little boy who seemed to all but wet himself as he marveled upon MISTER EMAN and his latias like it's the last thing he needed to deem himself at a point in his life where he could die the next moment and be happy with it.[break][break]

"If all our lovely contestants would get ready for the final walk, we'll be giving out the final badge to Andrea Vaneau !"[break][break]
A final catwalk was in place as the pokemon contestants and their partners were called to walk hand-in-hand, each earning their respective following of fans according to their performance on this day before all was broken away with a thanks to sponsors and the general boring end of said contests.
