Nodding to Josh when he talked about wishing her good luck on finding an Espeon big enough to ride and showing her his own Espeon being a racing Pokemon at his gym, she replied with a smile. “I would be happy to meet with Janus as I’m sure he does seem to be friendly.” When he spoke about not wanting to meet with his parents and not liking the tea his father gave him as being too light of a flavor, Elise laughs a bit. “Tea is not for everyone, but there are herbal types like hibiscus that have the necessary electrolytes.” [break][break]

The subject shifted to hobbies with Josh speaking about his favorite arcade place at Mauville having all of the known rhythm games. “You may think my hobbies sound a little dull compared to arcade gaming, but my hobbies are painting, reading, and origami.” A lone Butterfree had caught her attention as the butterfly Pokemon came to greet her with a friendly cry, curious in approaching her since it was a less hostile Pokemon.[break][break]

“I may have some honey flavored candy for you.” The Galarian royal spoke to the Butterfree and reached into her bag to unwrap one for the Butterfree to eat. “Would you like to join me? I’m sure you’ll be a good team player.” Her question got a nod from the eating Butterfree and once she tossed an empty Pokeball to the flying bug type, her Jolteon watched the Pokeball drop down with a wiggle.[break][break]

Josh smiled at Elise's admission. "I'm glad you recognize that. My dad back in Johto would try to force me into eating and drinking things I told him over and over again I wasn't interested in. I'm not a fan of Paldean food, yet every time he wants me to go to a Paldean restaurant with him and I tell him no, he whines. Must be a generational thing." Blinky shuffled her legs, a stray spark flying up Josh's back and causing him to flinch.

Josh's hobbies and Elise's didn't seem to overlap. One piqued his interest, though. "A painter? Didn't think you would be an artist. I might have to commission you if you're not too busy. What genres do you like to read? I don't read too much anymore, but when I do, I love me some high fantasy. Sword and sorcery, or just plain ol' medieval adventure."

Taking a deep breath, Josh held out Blinky's and King Zing's Poké Balls. "I'm gonna see if my Beedrill's calmed down yet. I wanted to get used to riding him." He made sure he was ready before putting his earplugs back in, then switching ride Pokémon. The giant, insectile predator was still pretty fired up, but didn't look angry enough to put a sting into just any Pokémon nearby.

His words that his father had taken him to a Paldean restaurant despite Josh’s attempts at refusing to eat Paldean food did make his father to be sort of a stubborn man. “I’m sure my father was the same when he wanted me to try Alolan food with him at a restaurant even though my taste palate appeals only to Johtonian, Galarian, and Kalosian food.” She responds with a small frown since parents were sometimes a little stubborn on their own things they liked.[break][break]

“I will do my best for any commissions you ask of me. As for the genres I like to read myself, mystery and high fantasy are a joy to read. Galarian tales of knights and dragons are my favorites from childhood.” The woman nods to Josh’s preferred genre of books since there were some good high fantasy novels to read. [break][break]

She didn’t pay attention to the other wild Pokemon that would come by later only for Raiden to see that they moved away, probably because they had other things.

Before Josh could answer, the loud drone of King Zing's wings drowning out all other noise. The aggressive bee stretched his foreleg stings outward and yanked the Gym Leader backward from the sudden acceleration. Flying around a bend in the trail, the poison-type's quarry came into view: a Dodrio fleeing at top speed. "PURSUIT, King Zing!" Josh shouted, flicking his mount's reins.

The bee's wings roared louder, every square inch of his rider's skin tingling from how much the yellow-and-black exoskeleton shook. It was working, though! King Zing was closing the gap, getting within reach to stab the Dodrio's back with both his spear-like stings. With a squawk, the wild briefly slowed to concentrate on the upcoming burst of AGILITY it would use to escape. Josh wouldn't let it; he hurled an empty Poké Ball at the three-headed, flightless bird. While it wasn't exactly his style of swift ride, the Pokémon would be very helpful as a beginner to intermediate ride Pokémon for his academy.

Her words to the Mauville gym leader were probably falling to deaf ears since his large Beedrill was buzzing so loud that she could tell him later. Seeing the other trainer try to catch a Dodrio since he might have not gotten one for his gym, the Jolteon yips over to the presence of a lone Treecko that accompanied the Dodrio. “Let’s give our Butterfree friend a chance to give him a battle to do.” She spoke to Raiden who nodded a bit as she sends out her new Butterfree to do battle with the gecko Pokemon.[break][break]

Oberon’s Psybeam would manage to confuse the female Treecko as the smaller grass type tried to hit the flying bug with Slam, but the attack ended up damaging herself. Another Psybeam from the Butterfree ended up making the Treecko worn out that Elise would throw a Premier Ball to capture the grass type starter.

The longer Josh flew on King Zing, the more he realized the wasp might not be a great fit for his Gym. Perhaps it simply took some getting used to, but Josh's legs were starting to thump from the sheer power King Zing was displaying to keep the two of them aloft. The bug-type, using his keen vision, caught sight of a Turtwig minding its own business, recovering from what was likely a brawl with another wild Pokémon. King Zing made an uncommanded turn to the side of the road and leaving it entirely, weaving among the trees with agility that yanked his rider from side to side with every turn.

The two had clearly come to the long jungle road with different intentions in mind. Rather than fight his trainer's strong pull, he listened to Josh, abandoning his prey and returning to the road. "We'll find something that's a better match for you!" Josh said to King Zing, though he was unsure the drone wasp could even hear him.

Both the electric type and the Dragapult watch the gym leader struggle a bit with his Beedrill since he had some trouble controlling the large bug type though the large ghost dragon saw the two other Pokemon looking at the Butterfree that she had caught recently. With a protective growl, the Dragapult stops once the Beedrill chased after the two instead of the dragon dealing with them. “Next time, we’ll find another that will be a match for you, Samael.” She spoke to the Dragapult as Samael floats in the air above the royal and her Jolteon.[break][break]

Raiden blinks at the Beedrill wanting to chase his prey though the Jolteon would keep watching the two Pokemon’s figures grow smaller utnil they were out into the jungle’s deep parts.

For a while, Josh had his Beedrill mount under control, letting Elise catch up. They traveled in the direction of Fortree City for quite some time, only seeing a small horde of Nymble. In the meantime, the Gym Leader experimented with controlling the wasp beneath him. With a full right-rein tug, the Beedrill ceased beating one of his wings for a split second, turning around faster than any other Pokémon he had been on before.

Elise may have been able to hear a distorted cry as he zipped about. The two practically twirled in place during the maneuver, making Josh dizzy during the demonstration of the Beedrill's nearly unlimited agility. With an unsteady pat, the rider ordered his Beedrill to land. The bug-type planted his foreleg stings in the ground and touched down, gently vibrating his wings to try to ease Josh's overloaded senses.

She watched the small horde of Nymble walk by as the royal sees the Beedrill slow down, so the Jolteon would catch up to King Zing and his rider. Though she doesn’t notice the horde of the bug types since she wasn’t interested in catching one of them, there was a lone Delibird that came to see her and her Jolteon. Raiden didn’t want to hurt his trainer if he was going to battle with the Delibird, so Samael would start with Dragon Darts, the Dreepy launch themselves to hurt the Delibird as the flying type chirped in pain.[break][break]

A Present being given by the Delibird would heal the large ghostly dragon, so Samael disappears into the air. With a confused expression on the Delibird’s face, the bird would be hit by the Dragapult’s Phantom Force and a Pokeball would be tossed by the Galarian royal to catch the ice type bird.
