NINETALES scrambled out of the rocky prison and immediately turned to its creator. With a sharp whistle, the fox unleashed another EXTRASENSORY on the sleeping bipedal bird. Barnaby figured that would probably be enough to knock it out.[break][break]

Meanwhile, a DARK VOID pulled BUTTERFREE in and lulled it to sleep, rendering it useless. Shit. Well, maybe the champion's idea wasn't a bad one. Pulling a scatterbang from his vest, Barnaby lobbed it at Elisa's slumbering BUTTERFREE and hoped for the best.[break][break]

As for the SMEARGLE, he brought out his TERA ORB and initiated terastallization. A coat of translucent green crystals began to scatter across the NINETALES until it was covered from head to toe. Newly boosted in power, another SOLAR BEAM was released, this time at the little Painter Pokémon.

this was one of the cases where both the offensive and defensive plays were the same thing.

"transform!"

the smeargle was free to choose whichever one to copy. with not much time to specify, kyle leaves it up to a flip coin for the smeargle to decide the opponent to turn into.

it morphs into a ninetales just as the solar beam hits.

"so that's how it works?" there's no crystal growths on it, unlike the terastallized pokemon, giving the results as when one tries it out with a mega evolved pokemon.

anyways.

"got any fire-type moves?"

the smeargle, now morphed as a ninetlaes, takes advantage of the sun just as the ninetales did. temperature rises as heat wave washes over to their side, tormenting two pokemon of a certain florist's favored types.

With BLAZIKEN newly reinvigorated, NINETALES was unable to escape the brutal collision with its STONE EDGE a second time around. That, and the flames that seared into her coat of emerald crystals, managed to knock out the silver fox. Barnaby returned her to her Luxury Ball, his hand sliding the capsule away and gripping something else within his pocket.[break][break]

While Elisa's BUTTERFREE paralyzed the opposing Pokémon, Barnaby knew he needed to do something about their trainers. After lobbing large chunks of a crystalline substance across the battlefield, he turned to his partner and responded,[break][break]

"Let's get out of here."[break][break]

The mysterious ore he'd just hurled was used to create a glinting red barricade between them and their LEAGUE combatants. It should bide enough time for both himself and Elisabeth Fiorelli to make their escape.

they can't be wasting too many turns getting affected by status moves if they were to gt something exciting out of this match. the smeargle tries to take something out of the ninetales' moveset and make a z-move out of it.

a barrier forms as z-protect activates. the blizzard of dust ravages them, but they are left relatively unscathed with the pokemon's protection. a barricade, however, awaits them once the storm has settled.

it is then kyle has realized that he has deactivated his sygna suit for a while now.

paranoia sets in. the need to look for more of their party grows as he gets anxious for their safety. for safety measures, he adds up another layer of his own by crushing a mysterious ore.

"that's good right? that they left us alone?" he tries to remain calm, but he feels his chest beating. whether it's from the environment affecting his mental or just the general excitement he gets with every instance of him being in the warfront, he is unsure of.

he turns and recalls the smeargle. "come on. let's continue the search."
