Mint is tired when he hears the news the SEAL had been taken. Rocket cheers in waves, the sound echoing through the scarves as they quickly began to pack out. Drove of grunt TELEPORT out of the caves once they pass through the Ultra Sea Rifts. Mint looks for his friends, worried about their injuries. had not been ok when they'd partner ways. He'd lost sight of at some point while tracking one of their decoys. He had helped patch up but still worried about the ex-beast. Still remembered the weird sickly gunk that had come out of him on their first meeting. He looks for , grimly patting him on the shoulder after having peered too deep into Ashley's past, and Ashley into Mint's. [break][break]

As one of the Beasts handling the back of the assault, he stays to watch everybody else leave. When they clear out from Ultra Space and the caves, he TELEPORTs out and heads for the med bay. He wanted to make sure his friends still had pulses and weren't crippled for life before he passed out himself. He doesn't want to give his mind time to play catch up with all the horrible memories, the death of his potential partners. He doesn't burden Fern with it all, just goes home after brief check in and drops dead on their couch.

It really doesn't feel like you won.

It's an odd thing. Rocket got the Seal Stone before the League did. By all means, you are the victor here, and your enemies were defeated. By every definition, this was a win.

And yet, as far as you're concerned, this entire endeavour was a loss. You spent hours upon hours as a pawn in someone else's game, and seeing as how you got your ass kicked at every turn, you weren't even a very good one. If anything, this only served to remind you that every other piece on the board is better than you are. It's infuriating in a way that you can't even rightly describe. Even thinking it just makes you angry, though, some of that might just be a coping mechanism. The seething rage helps to distract from the pain of your broken ribs.

But there's nothing to be done. All you can do is wait until you've healed up, and get better. If you're losing to stronger trainers and stronger Pokemon, then you and your Pokemon simply have to get stronger. Of course, that's easier said than done, and fuck if you know how you're supposed to do that...

...But that's a future Shred problem. Right now, your main priority is dragging yourself somewhere comfortable so you can pass out in peace.

Their efforts were not in vain. The seal stone was retrieved, and Rocket was one step closer toward world domination. Yet that was not the only boon from this endeavor. The Interdream Data retrieved during the campaign would be a valuable addition to 's Interdream Project, and the retrieval of multiple 'dream' pokemon was sure to keep Oscar busy for several weeks.

Yet the seal was the main focus, and Rocket's science team would have their hands full trying to unveil its secrets. Unsurprisingly Oscar was most interested in the latent energies that could be powering the seal stone. Surely there had to be some sort of cosmic power connecting it to Arceus.

Ugh, Arceus. Oscar had mixed opinions on the so called pokemon 'god'. A being of its immeasurable strength would be invaluable to Rocket's goals, but their experiences with the Dark Triad thus far led Oscar to believe that Arceus was already spoken for. In all likelihood, their quest for the all-father of the universe would not end in controlling it--but rather destroying it.

Sign Oscar up, sounds like a good Friday night.

Congratulations. More war, more bloodshed, death, and they have what to show for it? Something potentially too powerful in nature? Maybe it was that pushed a twisted line of thought into him that this whole war was pointless. too, had pushed the pendulum the other way. But a pendulum swings harder the more it's pushed.[break][break]

Walsh getting this seal stone was not a good thing. Not at all. Ashley curses under his breath. Would the League have been better? 's hand on his shoulder makes him feel better. Only slightly though.[break][break]

Doesn't matter. It still feels like a hollow victory. Two deaths, the shit kicked right out of him, lives taken, lives almost taken. War had been so much, that as he leaves the space completely, he just decides to grit his teeth and go to the med bay.[break][break]

His mind empty, he goes to get looked at. Bandages for his chest, and a lot for his face. No hospital stay this time. He'd need a long couple hours to process all of today.

That whole long day, Navy never knew what he was fighting for. He’s found on the edge of a crater outside of the cave, guarded by an Urshifu. On the other side is , guarded by his own lumbering brute of a beast. Each is retrieved by their own side, taken away to lick their wounds. After the longest day of his life, Navy sleeps for almost two days straight.[break][break]
He dreams about the dark corners of the world. Pink crystals glowing with light. A darkness that threatens to consume , only held at bay by the luminous light of a white creature. It flickers like the fading light of a half dead candle. Navy loses track of time as he slumbers there. Near two days later, he wakes up.[break][break]
The mood is somber. It was all for nothing. Team Rocket has won. They have taken something called the Seal Stone. Despite the apparent defeat, Navy feels…[break][break]
He feels better. He feels better than he ever has in his whole life. Sitting up in his bed, looking out the window, he reflects on his life. He’s been living in a dream. A dream where he is a detective, putting on an easy front as he solves crimes and earns easy money. It’s not a bad dream. Indeed, it’s a dream he is content to have when he falls asleep at night.[break][break]
But he is done dreaming. Running a hand across his swollen face, feeling the bones that have been reset by doctors and their Pokemon, he hardly notices the pain. Scars on his face and scars on his chest are points of pride. The rift had a message for him: it’s time to wake up. If he wants to be a champion, embrace what he is. Be a fighter.[break][break]
“Gabe…it’s time for your big bro to get to work.” He says to the wind. “Lopez, Melody, Josh. You guys better still be alive. We’re defending Hoenn. Together. Rocket won’t know what hit ‘em next time.”[break][break]
He wakes up in a new life, down by the seaside. The rooms in his head have all been cleared. His heart’s calmer than it’s ever been. Navy gets up and he gets to work.

"we win!"

priam holds the seal stone in his hands as his legendary mark shine in a blindingly bright light. pride wells in his chest as he feels the stone texture in his palms.

"we got it!" he tells the party with him at its retrieval. "we won the race!"

the feeling of victory falls short soon after.

this was the end for him. the mark left by the celesteela who visited mossdeep that faithful day will soon lose its novelty. he's going to be left in the dust soon and rocket will soon find use for the seal stone without him.

things are finally moving on without him. bridges and opportunities were burned. his confidence waves the longer he stays in this place, and he's not sure if it's the inherent psychological effects of the environment doing it or if it was just the aftermath of this war.

dread fills him despite the practiced smile plastered all over his face. there's all sorts of reason to celebrate but priam only finds paranoia eating him up.

he can't let this era end.
