SLATEPORT IS REDECORATING for the holiday season. A large Wintertide/Pokeyule Tree has been erected in the middle of night market, while various stalls, buildings, and streetlights are adorned with lights and garland. They are requesting Pokemon volunteers to help make the port city festive!

Remiel Calcifet recognizes some faces in this volunteer group. After all, HOENN was a small world, wasn't it? There's luka chêne as festive as ever. For now, however, he gives her a wide berth. Wouldn't want to ruin the mood with memories of bright Hoennyule's past that they'd spent together.[break][break]

Then there's his cousin Elise Calcifet and her STARMIE. The exiled royal offers them a short wave and a greeting as he carries a box of lights over to the large (but mostly bare) pine tree at the center of the NIGHT MARKET. "If we do a good job I'll treat us to a toasty hotpot!" He calls out.[break][break]

And of course, he's met ALEXANDER STONE before, though certainly not in-depth. The man was his former employer when he'd first immigrated to Hoenn and they both once shared a strong relationship with a certain someone. He offers him a nod and a greeting while summoning a COFAGRIGUS from its Luxury Ball. "Nice to be working with you."[break][break]

But it was still rather odd to be talking to a man who was once dead. Despite dealing with 'dead things' in his profession, Remiel couldn't seem to shake that feeling off. The 'dead things' usually didn't talk back, unless one counted fossil and Ghost-type Pokémon.[break][break]

Lastly, there's a face the crown prince does not recognize: Mika Nakayama and her DELIBIRD. As his Cofagrigus begins to use its multiple and long shadowy arms to twirl the string lights around the massive tree, Remiel approaches her for a handshake. "My name is Remiel. Nice to meet you and thank you for volunteering. This is going to turn out to be a rather exquisite Hoennyule. I can feel it." He smiles.[break][break]

Slateport City needed the help in putting up their Christmas lights and their little volunteer group would be rewarded greatly for their efforts. Her Starmie follows her when she already brought him out of his Dusk Ball. “I am looking forward to it, cousin. The hot pot should do nicely if we get it done.” The female royal responds to Remiel Calcifet after she greets him and waves back. She takes out one of the lights off from the box she carried all the way to the Night Market and gets to work. Another person was already there since they’ll need the help they can get on this job.[break][break]

On one of the spruce trees, she instructed her Starmie to help her reach the taller end of a spruce tree. “Can you help with this, Decarabia? Thank you.” As she points up to the tall end, Decarabia uses Psychic to have one of the Christmas lights with green and red bulbs wrap around the tree in a spiral. Elise goes over to another spruce tree and had taken one of the other green and white Christmas lights to wrap around a smaller fir tree herself.

It's silly, but even after all this time, it's awkward working with Remiel Calcifet in close capacity. But Luka is as polite as she can possibly be, cranberry lips turned up in a smile that's pleasant, but not personal.[break][break]

With Elise Calcifet she's far more friendly, giving the familiar woman a happy smile and a little wave before they get to work. ALEXANDER STONE and Mika Nakayama receive just as warm a reception— volunteer work is a lovely way to make new friends, after all.[break][break]

Of course, most of the hard labor falls to her Rotom. The electric ghost zips gleefully through the hanging strings of christmas lights, turning them various hues to their liking and making them flicker on and off. For a moment it's less helpful and more of a hinderance, but eventually Lychee tires of their mischief and actually starts to help. Any time a bulb goes out, the shiny Rotom comes to the rescue, and even possesses several strands to make them easily wrap around various trees and stalls, making decorating in hard to reach places a breeze![break][break]

"It's so pretty," Luka muses aloud, breathing warm air against her chilly fingers. "Mmm...I'd love to have a hot chocolate after this. Does anyone else want one?"[break][break]

sasha the delibird only chirps happily in reply, flying up to place various ornaments on the large tree, while also tossing tinsel and other sparkling decorations onto the eaves below it. mika puts up a few bells and holly leaf plants up on windows, too. she uses a broom to sweep away any dust or trash that might make the night market look less lovely (but with the hard work everyone's putting it, it seems impossible to make it look bad). she turns to luca, and says, "i'd love a cup of hot chocolate, actually. thank you." [break][break]
