An approving look was shot towards Rhys Collins as the Bronzong's arms burst apart in a screeching sound of splintering metal and sparks. The collective flames of their Typhlosions licked at the sand, leaving specks of burning embers behind.[break][break]

Then the horrible, miserable sound rang out, and Elisabeth clapped her hands over her ears as she grit her teeth. All around them, the earth shuddered, and her Typhlosion sought to take advantage of it.[break][break]

The resulting ERUPTION cleaved through the dunes, casting the Bronzong in volcanic flame.[break][break]

Rhys was not one for expressing himself, typically, but when his Typhlosion successfully prevented the Bronzong from using its arms to unleash its planned attack, he pumped his fist quietly, down by his side, but enough that his triumph had an outlet.

Soon, though, it would need another one.

His companions battered the enormous pokemon with gouts of flame and magma, and while he thought they were making excellent progress, all things considered, the Bronzong had other ideas. As the deep, resonant tolls began to sound, shaking the ground underfoot and suddenly rendering him unable to hear - well, anything at all, really - Rhys clapped his hands to his ears, gritting his teeth.

His Typhlosion needed no direction, though, responding instinctively with reverberating waves of her own: heat, rather than sound, OVERHEATING in an attempt to silence the maddening gong with rippling waves of its own. One pokemon's token resistance would hardly affect the creature, but Rhys had seen what his own eyes what four trainers acting in concert could accomplish.

A maelstrom of burning sand whirled around them as the BRONZONG continued on with its rampage. It was a painful thing for BARNABY FINCH to try and see through, even with a forearm raised to partially cover his face. Worse still was the ear-splitting series of tolls that then rung out across the dunes, foreshadowing an even larger show of power.[break][break]

"Mmph—!" Like the others, Barnaby's hands flew up to cover his ears against the horrible, gonging din.[break][break]

While similarly pained, his TYPHLOSION was well-trained enough to tolerate the enemy's cries and continue with the assault. This time, she aimed a devastating FIRE BLAST straight at the BRONZONG's glowing eyes, thinking that they somehow housed the focal point of its DYNERGY.[break][break]

Nomi covered her ears, but lost her footing, tumbling face-first into the sand. Coughing, she pushed herself up, searching for Pepper. The Hisuian Typhlosion was at her side in an instant, a paw outstretched. Nomi grabbed onto the Pokemon and righted herself, shaking out her hair.[break][break]
"I hate sand," she muttered.[break][break]
Pepper wasted no time taking up the offensive once more. An ERUPTION of magma shot forth towards the Bronzong.[break][break]

Rhys thought he had seen all manner of strange phenomena when dealing with pokemon, but an auditory trigger to summon a blinding rainstorm was new to him. "Oh, damn it," he cursed as the water began to pour down; he didn't enjoy the rain on his best days, but here - when flames were of critical importance - it was especially unwelcome.

"I worry we don't have many options, ma'am!" he called back to Elisabeth Fiorelli over the sudden sussuration soaking the sands. Then again, at least there was a silver lining - he could barely see the outline of the Bronzong, and his Typhlosion, like the others, had gone from a beacon of heat to a stuttered flicker, but at least there was some respite from the arid desert. He'd privately enjoy it while it lasted.

Their foe offered them no such reprieve, however, and so he directed his Typhlosion into a BLAST BURN that pelted the steel surface of their enormous adversary, clouds of steam sizzling up in protest.

Rain. Of course it would be rain. The universe had already seen fit to plague their region with anomalies, why not bad luck as well?[break][break]
A FIRE strategy would be no use against a deluge such as this.[break][break]
BARNABY FINCH hollered at her, and she grit her teeth in frustration. Another crushing column of flame would go out in an instant. But...she might be able to clear the air, at least. Reset the playing field for the rest of her team.[break][break]
"We need the sun," she declared, turning to Pepper. The Hisuian Typhlosion growled low in the back of his throat, then closed his eyes in concentration. A powerful enough SUNNY DAY would surely clear away the clouds...[break][break]
Seconds passed, and nothing happened. But then, an explosion of brilliant sunlight engulfed the area around the Bronzong, so hot that Nomi had to take a few steps back lest she get burned. As she'd hoped, the rays were powerful enough to dissipate the rain, droplets sizzling as they hit the ground, the storm retreating into the cliffs.[break][break]
"That should do it!"[break][break]
