[attr="class","hearrmenand2"]Piper rolled her eyes underneath her shades, not that anyone would be able to tell. The book was in a lull at this point. It was downtime and they were pushing some romantic narrative between the main character and a member of his 'party'. Snoozefest if you ask her, but she knew if she didn't push through to get to the good stuff she'd never get there. Still, this sappy, unrealistic, romance stuff was not her cup of tea.

That's when she noticed movement from the corner of her eye. Her golden orbs, hidden beneath their tinted shield, watched as man approached her. Well, not her specifically, but choose to sit beside her nonetheless. Since she was already fixated on him she noticed him turn to look at her as well. Piper still had guitar rifts and heavy drum kits popping off in her ears so she really couldn't hear anything anyone was saying. Luckily she could read lips. "Getting some summer reading in?" he said which piper shrugged her pale shoulders in response.

"Trying to," She started as she went on to flip another page. However, with her agitation towards the novel she mistakenly did it too quickly and cut her finger slightly. "Shit." She muttered as she brought her hand to her lips to suck on the wound. Not the proper way to deal with a paper cut but sufficient for her. Groaning she slammed the book shut and tossed it on her bag beside her. "Whatever, it was boring anyway." She exclaimed as she removed her ear buds from her ears.

Still gently sucking on her index finger she turned to face the man beside her. Giving him her full attention now. "What about you? What's the deal with that?" She pointed at his textbook guide to computers 'for dummies'. She smirked at the title, it was funny to her at least. Reminded her of how her father would always call and ask her how to do something with anything that involved electronics. "Got a case of the boomer fever?" Piper teased with a bright grin flashing in the mans direction. She rested her arm against the armrest and propped her head up with her palm. "It's okay, websites can be tricky at first." Piper assured him.

She was being awfully chatty today. Normally she kept to herself but she figured that she needed something to do and the book wasn't cutting it. Besides, she didn't mind the company. She wouldn't admit that though. She always plays the 'hard to get' role.

jump rope has been prepared for you and your pokemon. the length of the rope is quite long, manned by two venusaur on either side. in fact, the ropes are their vines, connected in the center, as if the pokemon were holding hands. many are able to participate at the same time; however, will you last the longest?![break][break][break]

your character may interact with other characters in this thread; however, always remember common courtesies of roleplaying.
all of your characters may participate in this event; however, only for each mini-game only one character of yours can participate. however, if you possess another character, they may participate in the next mini-game instead of the previous character, etc.

Anything to beat this heat...

Adrian clambered over from the boardwalk carrying a beverage, watching the beach-goers playing at their myriad games, the spirit of jubilation overtaking even the most soured of expressions. Even he couldn't help but smile at the kids playing games, and the adults and pokemon entertaining their summer recreations. He siphoned his poppin' pachirisu float through his fancy straw with a slurp, his lips smacking as he felt relieved of the heat.

When was the last time I spent a day at the beach...? He'd always forgotten how relaxing it could be, watching others running about, enjoying themselves. As he watched the sun glinting against the crashing waves, he winced from the sunlight. By chance he saw someone applying some sunscreen. Oh... right. He'd need to grab some before his shirtless hide began to crisp.

But his search was disrupted when he noticed some venasaur skipping vines for a gathering beach game. He'd been pretty good at skipping rope as a child, not that it was his preferred pastime... Ah, fuck it. Another swig of his half finished drink, and Adrian found himself moving over to enjoy the fun, hopefully before he was outside for long enough to catch a sunburn.

He was reluctant however to part with his drink, and so he'd awkwardly clasped it in one hand while attempting his best to partake in the festivities.

Pulled into the third game by a fellow Rocket that he, somewhat, knew from working with them during previous missions Sebastian would find himself stopping only to grab a third drink as well. Scooping up a Poppin' Pachirisu Float the blond would begin to sip it, daring to take it into the game even, was he daring or just...bored? Still his mind was sour on the fact that he failed the first challenge, the only real one so far in his mind, being the watermelonsmashing, though he managed to succeed in the limbo contest it just wasn't the same to the blond.

Nonetheless with his peers and strangers looking on, along with his feline team, Sebastian would begin his shot at jump rope.....

The man approached the low hanging bar, warm eyes stared nervously at it. He swallowed hard in the attempt to get the lump out of his throat, it failed. Lucky for him, the drinks already started to take over. Shrugging his shoulder, Maverick attempted the go under the bar. Maverick barely cleared the bar, his nose just centimeters from the bottom of it before he safely emerged from the other side. A bead of sweat rolled down the side of his face as he stood back up on his feet. He fist pumped the air as he marched proudly off stage, feeling good. Or was it the drink? Either way, Maverick left the mini game only after he collected his prize and moved on.

It was the sound of cheering that got his attention as he moved through the crowd. But before he went to go investigate, the man stopping to pick up Poppin' Pachirisu Float drink. Sipping on his drink, the trainer invested the next mini game down the beach. He watched from the distance, a smirk tugged the edges of his lips as his head began to swim. It was only after he finished his drink that Maverick wasted no time to jump in. With his head now light and swimming, his sense of pride was out the window and straight up just didn’t care. However, his drinking may not help him in this as his balance was already starting to be off balance. And when they yelled go, the man did his best to last as long as he could.

She could hear the background noise, the woman and man (Bailey Cooper and dominic sinclair ) yapping like dogs. She supposed it was better than them tearing each other apart, Silk's blown sand must have acted like throwing water over two fighting hounds, they were still barking but not fighting...thank goodness. She didn't want to have to be the only person available that that had to throw out unruly people. [break][break]

Kaida refused to buckle on the temptation of drinks, pointingly keeping her drinks non-alcoholic. Another Pachirisu Float found its way into her hand, horribly sweet. Really, she didn't like such an alcoholic drink in the first place, and she felt she had to keep her mind logical. If only to keep the only person she knew here, illeana reyes , safe. [break][break]

Well...maybe not too logical. [break][break]

Her eyes were drawn to the movement of the jump rope on the beach, and even if it meant leaving the coolness of her seat, it was far too tempting. "Do you wanna play?" She raised her voice towards Illeana, already moving and making her own interest clear. It was a fun looking activity and, let it be known, Kaida Adachi actually knew how to have fun in a game. he was easy to talk to, which took a load off her shoulders.

she glances in the direction he motioned to, and she smiles some more. it seems like they brought out another few drinks to spare, new additions to add to the rotation. daphne turns back to noah, offering a smile. "i know lo--" she pauses. addressing with.. formalities wouldn't exactly fitting in this kind of environment, was it? "kyle. i know kyle through my younger brother~" albeit, not exactly well.

she smiles some more at the invitation, softly giggling at the display between the two of them. gods, it was adorable. "mmn, i'm alone right now. i would gladly join you two." though, she wouldn't be fond of being a third wheel, as cute as they were being. she takes a glance over to the jump rope session that was set up, along with someone who seemed to be walking around and serving drinks to those who weren't in line. presumably with their new three drinks.

she takes the pachirisu float to enjoy herself with, then motions to the new event. "jump rope on the beach looks like it would be amusing~." she puts the drink down, waving to both noah faber and kyle lopez before going on ahead. "one moment, i want to try this--"

ah.. the crowd that gathered around made her feel the tiniest bit anxious as she tried out the jump rope..

Emma's words resonate with Gavin, strike a chord deep within him, and he knows it's time to make their exit. He all but ignores Valerio's own cheerful goodbye as he gestures Emma toward one of the bars.[break][break]

"Give me your strongest, and a Swablu Ice."[break][break]

He'd enjoyed the cooling effect of the drink before, and he's now more concerned with Emma than he is with getting drunk. If the limbo was any indication, he'd drank enough already — the moment his balance or cognitive function began to be impaired, it was too much. That loss of control had never sat right with him, except during the worst times when he drank only to forget.[break][break]

He's handed the shaved ice and some other drink he doesn't catch the name of; the latter is handed off to Emma. The ice was free, but he slides some change across the bar for the other drink.[break][break]

"Better, love?"[break][break]

Though his tone is light, there's concern in the way he looks at her. 'I wasn't taught.' Beaten, tortured. Flashbacks to his own childhood, kneeling on cold bathroom tile and choking on water. He's seen her scars, can only guess at some of their origins.[break][break]

People are skipping rope nearby, cheering and laughing, but he ignores them. He has eyes only for her.

as sweat rolled down his body kazimir decided to cool himself off with an ice cold pachirisu float that managed to keep his body from overheating. as he finished he realized that he had been abandoned by the two people he had ran into and was feeling well...a bit left out of the fun. or rather left out of a group seeing as everyone else had decided to pair up with other people they knew and were already having fun with one another that just the sight of it made kazimir feel like a third wheel. so he decided to try and distract himself with something, luckily two venasaur had just the fix he needed.

"jump rope? haven't done this since my cardio days. all right ya plant dinos set it up!" as the rope started to swing kaz ran right in and started to jump. soon it was easy enough for him to get a good rythmn going, now it was just a matter of keeping it going for as long as he could.

whatever he says seems to make sense--his rotom-phone floats out his pocket and into his hand, the one that's currently slung over priam's shoulder. marcel waves it around a bit for good measure, as if that would do anything. it fails to dawn on him that his phone has none of the tools he needs.

at the paper cut, even elijah winces. his satchel lays to his side, and a hand drops from his stomach to fetch something. however, his company's snark recalls his fingers. the apothecary grabs his book and glances at its cover with a disgruntled frown.

"websites can be tricky," elijah props himself up proper with his elbows, "just like turning the page of a book." he snorts and chews his tongue grumpily.

ahead, the ocean tugs upon the sands. krabby scuttle about as inflatables are tossed around like pokeballs.

"i'm trying to set up an online shop." elijah confesses. "what. you have a website of your own?"

BEACH PARTY

Grey had decided to step back and away from most of the hubbub that's been going around in this large beach party since the moment he arrived, standing under the shade of a nice umbrella while he watched an Obstagoon running from his life with a comically shocked and terrified expression as a Pangoro gave chase, murder and rage in his black-abyss for eyes.

A bead of sweat trailed down the side of his face as he watched his Pokemon going at it again, yet he knew they wouldn't create too much trouble... hopefully... as they rough-housed a little. Sure his Obstagoon might come out with a bruise or two but it wasn't like he didn't ask for it as he constantly teased and riled up the Pangoro to kick his ass. He looked down as he heard a cutesy growl, seeing his new Pokemon's tail wagging as he watched the spectacle by his side. "They made quite the pair, don't they?" The question was rhetorical, yet the Puppy Pokemon looked back at him and answered with a nod and a bark. "How about you make sure they don't cause trouble boy? Can you do that for me?" The Fire-Type titled his head quizzically before nodding, standing up from his sprawled position, giving himself a quick shake before giving chase.

Chuckling under his breath, he turned as the music changed, and a new event of sorts took place. Jump Rope? He frowned thoughtfully but figured that there wasn't any harm in joining it just for kicks, even though he hadn't played such a game since he was fucking five, he hoped he didn't twist his ankle or something if he fucked up too badly.

He finished his punch in one big gulp to give himself some confidence and joined the rest of the beach partygoers in having some fun. Hopefully, by the end of it, his skin wouldn't be as red as a Corphish.

While his cats wandered, though some rested/snoozed/napped, and others played nearby Sebastian would finally seem to take some notice of his fellow event goers. During the prior two challenges he hadn't paid them any sort of notice, but now he felt boredom drifting in and what better way to cure it, or perhaps the simplest way, than to people watch?

The colorful crowd of folk were intriguing enough, as well as their Pokemon teams, but the event itself brought little interest out of the blond. As such he'd pull Pestilence close, snuggling the Galarian Meowth before finally just getting up and making his way over to the bar, ordering a rather large glass of water to clear his palette.

noah refuses a new drink. the taste of the pachirisu float still lingers in his mouth as a film of sugar.

"i'm jumping too then. i'll buy you a drink if you last longer than me," he says to daphne, cheeky grin stuck on his face.

as daphne departs for the venusaur vines, noah cups kyle's face. "you wanna hop in too? i have a feeling you're gonna trip first swing, man." he laughs— then slaps kyle's ass. "wait up, daphne!"

in fear of provoking an attack of opportunity, noah pursues daphne's sandy wake. as the vine-rope is swung, he asks daphne mid-leap: "so who's your younger brother?"

he nods with a sheepish smile in response to noah's invitation, going with the flow until he feels impact behind him. "that's sexual harassment!" he shouts after noah, who he follows lazily afterwards.

when he eventually catches up to him, kyle forgets the reason why he had joined the jump rope, but still found himself jumping alongside everyone else regardless.

"here's a hint. it's the rustburo gym leader before you," he chimes in as he lands.

clumsiness is evident as a result of drinking, but kyle surprisingly manages to act composed amid all of these despite the difficulty he experiences. his eyes find themselves staring at his feet, as though he can watch when the vines swipe across them.
