"One hell of a hit," Zac said softly, smiling at the tuckered-out Espeon. Zac returned Sneg, and headed off towards the tent, gesturing for Killian to follow him. "The ice cream place is over this way!" Zac said, leading the way.

Soon they were seated at long tables. Each team had seven tubs of assorted ice cream in front of them. Once for each contestant. "Rules are easy," Zac called to Killian. "Eat as much as you can!"

First up for Zac was Mamoswine. The beautiful creature's eyes went wide at the first bite of rawst berry ice cream. She had lots of experience rooting around in Zac's garden for tubers and vegetables, but even the occasional fruit couldn't compare to something so sweet. 

Lulu was having the time of her life. She shoved her face as deep into the tub as possible, scooping up the ice cream with her thick tongue and staining her fur a gory pink.

Lucario's reversal was the beginning of the end. 

Even with all of Tapu Bulu's raw power, against a trained martial artist there was only so much that it could do. The bull was heaved up and over, and slammed down into the sand. Zac felt the impact from his spot thirty feet away. As Bulu hit the ground, the foliage around the jungle legendary burst into furious life. Rhododendrons, with orange blooms and bloody orange throats, surged outwards, entangling the legendary where it lay. Bulu's body swelled as healing energy flowed into it, sealing over it's wooden wounds-

KABOOM!

A thundering, zigzagging bolt of lightning crashed into Bulu, and a thousand fists of brilliant, bursting ions rained down on the injured bull. Zac had seen Zeraora in action before, but the challenge of a legendary had brought out the best in the thunder cat. Each blow flashed and sparked like the shattering of a lightbulb, and Zac turned away, blinded by the light. 

In seconds, it was over. The vines retracted, revealing Bulu unconscious in a lush bed of foliage. Zac let out a long, relieved breath. "That was one hell of a hit, Kaz!" he shouted, running over to shake hands with his best friend. "I've never seen anything like it! Where the heck did he learn that?"

"What a storm!" Zac called, regretting it immediately as his mouth was filled with sand. It felt like there was enough behind his molars to build a fair sized sandcastle. Across the field, the accountant was knocked over by the harsh winds. The man took cover behind a nearby bench, leaving his battered Meowth to fend for itself.

Odium, meanwhile, was loving it. Long streamers of sand flailed from the holes in his chest, adding to the storm. He stomped forwards, taking his rightful place in the center of the action. "BYAROOOO!" he roared as he waded through the slashing STEALTH ROCKS. Nothing would stop him! He stomped great dents into the arena, marking his territory.

The sand swarming above them compacted into great chunks, and the boulder fell in a freshly formed ROCK SLIDE onto all of the other combatants.

The poor little Meowth managed to jump out of the way, as rocks cratered the arena.   

Tyranitar stomped into the middle of the arena

"Nice one, guys!" Zac said, offering High-5's to and . 

The volcano shuddered around them with barely contained rage, and Zagrea let out a sympathetic roar. "This place is prepping to blow!" Zac said, recognizing the warning signs from his life spent on the mountain's slopes. "If we don't make a path for the pressure to escape, then it'll blast right out through the path of least resistance." Zac gestured around them, to the points where the precipice blades had blasted holes up through the volcanic core. "First this chamber's gonna be turned into a magma bath," he pointed upwards, "and then everyone up top is gonna get one hell of a rocky shower."
 
At Zac's command, Zagrea clambered into the volcanic flow, past the deactivated Regidrago and out of sight, down into the liquid rock. "She'll search for a weakpoint on the side of the volcano, and try to loosen up any pressure," Zac explained.

Zac headed outside. Kev the Steelix used STEEL ROLLER to forge a path through the rock and jungle. He ran over Zenji Jabami. Around their group were flashes of prehistoric green, as the jungles of the past poked through into the present. "Whoa! Look at these!" Zac said, grabbing some seed samples from the pods of the ancient ferns. "Fantastic!" he said softly, shoving them safely in his pockets.

Clawitzer wasn't a fan of jungle exploring, so Zac switched him for Sceptile. The lizard prowled through the ancient jungle, searching for danger with DETECT. 

The jungle trees slackened as he drew life into himself, and then pushed it into the surrounding trainers and their Pokemon, healing the wounds of his teammates. "That ought to keep us going to the top, ay?" Zac said, just as Giona split from their group and ran into the jungle.

TL;DR
-Heatran went INTO the volcano and used EARTH POWER to break up any blockages, trying to relieve pressure.
-Heatran is looking for a WEAK POINT in the volcanic shaft, so that she can divert the eruption AWAY FROM LAVARIDGE
-Steelix used STEEL ROLLER to forge a path
-Zac returned Clawitzer and sent out Sceptile, who is using DETECT to search for danger in the jungle

Zac's team wasn't able to return the ball. Ora dove to try and intercept, but the freezing Spheal whizzed past him, bouncing off the sleeping Tapu Bulu. 

Bulu snored as a thin sheet of ice froze over its wooden body. It didn't seem to mind at all, and it certainly didn't hamper the legendary's involvement in the battle. "You gonna be okay, mate?" Zac asked. Bulu answered with a loud, chilly snore that reverberated inside its ice casing. "Yeah, yeah I suppose it won't matter much," Zac chuckled.

They were fast approaching the end of the match, and Maverick was ahead again. Zac picked up the Spheal, stroked it for luck, and tossed it into the air. Ora and Byron both rushed for the ball. Ora won, jumping off the Nidoking to headbutt the ball back at their opponents.

Zac grinned when he saw Bo's Pokemon. It was the Gigalith from their watermelon eating competition! While the big rock monster hadn't shown much in the way of face-melon coordination, he sure looked formidable, pounding away at the sand.

Before Zac had a chance to chat with the others, the battle had kicked off. Dragapult whizzed around, speeding up as it flexed its AGILITY. Odium tried to follow the flashy movements of the speedster, gave up, and instead roared, whipping up a thrashing SANDSTORM. The coarse bands of grain tore at the arena, sandblasting the color from the plastic and forcing Zac to put on the goggles had leant him.

There was only one future for Sneg: Defeat.
The psychic energy hit like a sudden realization, shaking Sneg's body like a voodoo doll, throwing leaves and rattling his coconuts. The towering Pokemon slammed down into the sand, forming a lengthy crater. 

Zac wiped his brow. "That's one hell of a finisher," he said to Killian, shooting the man an excited grin. "Nothing hits quite like the future."

Killian Wins!

"Of course he's bloody worn out! Did you see him out there? What a champion!" Zac proclaimed, moving in to give Rowan a congratulatory handshake, and Ora a respectful fist bump. "You two were fantastic! Seriously! The honor is all mine Rowan." Zac grinned at them, took a deep breath of the salty beach air, and returned Byron. He patted the Pokeball, as if to say 'good job' to the fainted Pokemon.


"I hope my other battles are even half this fun!"

"Yeah this was my first real fight since that scrap at the glassware shop," Zac admitted. "And I don't remember much of that, so it can't have been much of a lesson. What type of training should I be doing? Running? Punching stuff?"

With Kaz proudly displaying his body, the differences between their physiques were plain to see. Most of Zac's size was just due to how untoned his body was. If he pared his body down to pure muscle, as Kaz had, they would be much closer to the same size. 

"No worries mate! It certainly won't hurt your image scoring an easy win on a newcomer!" Zac laughed, pulling out a bottle of green milk. "Tell me more about how ya stay in shape!"

With a Peppery sneeze, the remains of Zac's castle detonated, showering the area in hot sand.

Zac looked around at the vast, temporary devastation. The castles that had taken mere minutes to build had been torn down in half the time. Pokemon were fainted left and right, all of them with silly looks on their face.

Zac walked over to the fainted Zappa and laughed at the way the tongue lolled out of his mouth. He healed the lizard with a quick burst of energy. "Come on mate, no time for a snooze!" he joked, and the lizard slapped him happily with his bright yellow tail. "Yeah yeah, no worries."

He stuck out a broad hand to shake with Eris, the victor of their titanic clash. "Congratulations! What an absolute blast!" he said, pardoning his own pun. "How about I heal up all these goofs and we can go for a swim, ay?"

Steelix ground its way across Stella's massive form, trying to avoid the blast of the FLASH CANNON. The weapon blasted, tearing at his hide. The heat from the attack melted part of his steel skin. Zac shook his head, whistling at the spectacle. "You're not strong enough to wrestle her to the ground," Zac said, a smile building on his lips. The statement wasn't an admission of failure, but a challenge.

Zac touched the Mega Stone on his wrist, and Steelix's eyes shone blue. Vast spears of crystal burst through the serpent's skin, and sharp plates and chunks of metal formed a deadly, swirling aura around the now Mega Steelix. In his ultimate form, Kev was just as long as Stella was high.

"Let's go mate! Get her to the ground! It's the best chance you're gonna get!" Zac shouted. Kev pulled back his tail and SMACKED IT DOWN on Stella's booster like a mace, intent on driving the flying type down into the sand. Into his domain.

    "There's A.Q.U.A," Zac said, "and they're the real oversight and training body. A group of avatars that are committed to helping the region. Battling major outside threats and all that." Several people had problems with the idea of a group meant to rally avatars to a singular purpose, but to Zac it seemed great! You needed a leader, and why not someone in the league?

"If a new avatar pops up, they try to recruit them. Of course, you can't force an avatar to join. It's not mandatory or anything, but there are some pretty good perks." Zac gave Amor a wink, hinting at the benefits of being a member of the most concentrated circle of power and money in the region.

MYSTIC FIRE roared along the sand, hitting the surprised Heliolisk and burning the little lizard. He Fainted.
The STEEL BEAM pierced Maractus's expended shield, shattering the protective spikes and driving the plant down into the sand. Maractus Fainted.

And now there was just Tapu Bulu. Versus Lucario, Zeraora, and Mismagius. The only upside was that all three had been wounded, and that not the bull was well and truly awake. Tapu Bulu roared, shaking the air with heavy anger at their having being woken up. 

Underfoot, the beginnings of a tremendous NATURE'S MADNESS began to manifest. Iron briars and twisted thorns spread along the dunes, stabbing upwards like a bed of living caltrops. Tapu Bulu grabbed one of the palm trees they had been napping under and HURLED IT at Zeraora before charging the healing Lucario with a MEGAHORN. 

-Heliolisk FAINTED
-Maractus FAINTED
-Tapu Bulu raid boss mode ACTIVATED
-Tapu Bulu used Nature's Madness, growing thorns under the battlefield
-Tapu Bulu threw a tree at Zeraroa
-Tapu Bulu attacked Lucario with Megahorn

"Nothing mate! Nothing at all," Zac said, convincingly. "Why? Uh, what's going on with your Rotom?" It was a cunning reply, and sure to keep Noah distracted for a few seconds.

Thankfully, the pressure inside the fridge lessened, and Snow White settled down. A moment later a stream of black seeds shot out of her ice cube dispenser.

Next up was Garth the Aggron. Garth was a dab hand at eating huge round things. Truck tires, wrecking balls, extra large donuts. He couldn't get enough. "Ready mate? Aley-oop!" Zac shouted, tossing the watermelon high into the air. It soared back down, right into the waiting, gaping, jaws of the hungry metal monster.

"Yeah! Don't back down mate!" Zac yelled, full of dubiously placed optimism. Nidoking was wet, bruised, paralyzed, and unsteady on his feet. But hell if he had any intention of giving up now! 

Byron advanced on Ora, not giving his enemy any quarter to prepare another Hydro Pump. Much to Nidoking's surprise, his opponent grabbed for him a moment later. Gloves hands closed around his thickly plated arms, and Poliwrath flung him up, over and then down onto the ground in a terrible, crunching slam that sent sand spraying everywhere. 

Nidoking didn't submit. 

Instead, he fainted.

-Nidoking was hit by SUBMISSION!
-Nidoking FAINTED!
