That was quick he thinks as he rises from his chair, moving to the door and seeing it is, in fact, Melody. Meloetta is with her, and he offers the little songstress, who seems to be Melody wrought in miniature, a warm smile.[break][break]
“Glad you could make it.” He smiles at her, the most genuine smile he’s given in a long while. Behind him, in the center of the room, resting in the boxing ring that where his Elite Four matches were fought, sits a great wolf. She opens an eye, sees who Navy speaks with, and rises at once. Zacian is too large to simply walk up and join them, but she makes her presence known all the same with a short howl.[break][break]
“Don’t think you’ve met Zacian. She wanted to meet you at least once, before everything gets crazy.” Before they march off to war, perhaps never to return. Before everything changes, as things change constantly in this war-torn region. “You want somethin’ to drink? I didn’t expend most of my chamber budget on a fully stocked bar for nothin’.” Turning, he goes to the bar and pours himself some mead.

“Mother of Mew.” He half mutters the words in open, honest amazement. bryan delarosa, in the flesh. Knocked out. Right there. The man’s Audino seems to sense his thoughts and Navy raises a hand.[break][break]
“Listen to me. If I kill Delarosa, he’ll be awake. He’ll be facing me. He’ll be armed.” His eyes shift to Zacian as the words are exclaimed through great effort. His world fades in and out of focus. The sheriff, still pierced with a glacial lance, longs to rest. Zacian and Navy regard one another. She weighs his words, remembers his promise, and bows her head.[break][break]
There is no honor in killing an unconscious man. There is nothing moral or just about such a death. Though Navy does not know him, he will not give BARNABY FINCH this length of rope to hang him with.[break][break]
Bryan is picked up with gentle magnetic force, hoisted by a loose rod pulled from the water, and laid alongside the others. Audino is welcomed aboard and he makes for the League’s fleet.

Arrests Bryan (coincidentally placing him under the sheriff's protection per the man's honor), pulls him onto his metal platform, and moves toward the League's fleet through the fighting. Unless specifically targeted, I justify him making it through the lines via Zacian running interference on attacks and Origin Pulses as needed. Pilo gave his permission for the capture.

Dewford isn’t properly defended. Not while he’s here. Not while Zacian’s here. One of them must remain on Dewford per their agreement, yet neither shirks in the face of duty. Were Rocket to attack, it would be a repeat of Regice’s rampage.[break][break]
A little whiskey helps. Not much, not enough to get drunk. It takes the edge off. Zacian, or Zaria as she was once named before her seed of heroism took, made him swear off tobacco. She makes allowances for alcohol, especially on occasions like this, and he is happy to take full advantage.[break][break]
He looks at his phone. Melody’s number is still there, still on speed dial. He realizes, with some embarrassment, that her photo is still one from when they were together. Embarrassment mingles with shame at the realization of how little time has had to give to this woman who bears the weight of the world.[break][break]

He deletes a miss you and hits send. Maybe she will come. He hopes she will. Melody is entitled to meet Zacian, who she sacrificed greatly for, even if the songstress does not remember the sacrifice.

Clear water meets viscous poison. Two great waves crash into one another and the poisonous wave breaks before the tide. Nihilego are swept back out into the open sea, struggling to float away.[break][break]
They will never float away. They will not rise back to join their chorus on high. Vortigern, unshackled, wild, free, stomps on one. He tears another open with his bear teeth. Fang and claw and fury rend open the monsters, shattering them like so much glass.[break][break]
Navy sees all of this as he mines. That he is able to move at all, act coherent at all through the fog of dragon rage is a miracle all its own. His monitor counts up, reading that they already tread dangerously close to disaster. The Warrior grabs the ore, rips it free with his hands, and turns back to face the monsters.[break][break]
They don crowns, these angels. Each of them holds aloft a crown of poison blessed in the light of the tera. They grow stronger still, their efforts rejoined, they---[break][break]
They die. Navy falls upon them. Vortigern and Navy move like two beasts in perfect sync, pack mates, halves of one whole. Navy smashes one with his iron head, a look of mad fury upon him as the Nihilego, already weakened, shatters like glass. Vortigern doles out close combat fury upon another.[break][break]
And even still, they come. They target Navy, Airi, Bean, all of them. Power gathers before them and their beams blast towards the gathered trainers in a mighty tera blast.

It’s all simple fare, the stuff that small town cops have to deal with. Deputy Dave made some arrests and Navy has to go over the reports. Doubtless, there’d be high priority emails from AQUA.[break][break]
A howl from the misty mountain cuts that thought off. The one with whom he has sworn an oath of great importance would have him visit her. Who is he to deny such a request, after all they’ve been through? The sheriff shakes his head, smiling and looking up at the mountain.[break][break]
“Looks like our new police wolf wants me to come up and talk to her for a bit. She’s real edgy lately, what with the war about to kick off and all. Think she’s ready for all this waiting to be over.” He looks to the Skarmory chick and smiles. “I know you’ll do right, Montgomery. We ain’t perfect, but we can always try to be better. I’ll catch ya later, man.”[break][break]
He gives Montgomery one final pat on the shoulder. Tiny flutters along after him, eager to see Ascalon. All of them are oblivious to the parts they will play in the coming days, or the losses they will suffer. All of them save the hero of many battles are warriors of spring, and winter is coming.

“Look at ‘em go.” Not that either one really can, not with the sandstorm raging. Oberon holds onto Cin for dear life. Gibles have a frighteningly strong bite and their teeth are sharp. Oberon does not let go easily, not even when the flamethrower bakes his rough shark skin. Pain, a new sensation for the dragon prince, finally makes him shriek. Letting go, his recourse is to rush headlong at Cin.[break][break]
The dragon rush is a blind thing, fueled by pain and anger. He wishes to hurt, as he has been hurt, forgetful of how he was the one to inflict the first wound.

As freya morningstar is swallowed, as the water meanders, as legends die and flail all around him, the sheriff makes a call.[break][break]
“There’s injured in the water. Gotta get ‘em back to our boats ‘fore this gets worse.” As these two trees surge and a king lays slain at the foot of one, he thinks it will soon get much, much worse. There are dead floating in the water, and there is blood there besides.[break][break]
He shouldn’t be able to move, much less guide the metal beneath him along the water’s surface. It races away from the tree, trusting the others to keep up the fight while he plays his part. Kyogre fires off its pulses in every direction. One of them splits the water in a course leading right towards him. Once more, Zacian proves his salvation. She interposes herself between the pulse and her appointed warrior. Ascalon splits the pulse, then splits the next that comes like an aftershock.[break]
Navy does not know Gwendolyn Conway. He does not know her struggles, her fears, or her insecurities. All he can do is wave her Garchomp down, Zacian standing right beside him.[break][break]
“Hey. I’ll get her out of here. You can come a-”[break][break]
Another origin pulse. This one is not wholly deflected by Zacian. It slams into the platform, slams into him. It should kill him, crush him, shatter his whole platform and drive him into the water beneath. It does none of those things, but he knows the price he must pay for that once the battle is done.[break][break]
Hold it together, Navy. Just a little while longer. Feats don’t fail me now.[break][break]
So, turning north towards the breach, he sails his metal roof out towards the sea, all the while Zacian runs interference and helps spot bodies in the water.

Seeing that he's on the brink of passing out, Navy turns his attention to rescuing people in the water as he charts a course for the League ships outside the Sootopolis basin. Sees Gwendolyn Conway and her Garchomp. Rescues her. Zacian is running interception on the Origin Pulses from Kyogre. Stops most of them, but one still hits Navy. Holding on by a thread, he uses his magnetism to sail his makeshift platform north to the safety of a League vessel. Also rescues NPCs in the water if Shiv lets me.

They’ve got feelin’s, too.” Navy does not truly know if Roland cares, but he will act as if his iron knight does in the absence of evidence to the contrary. Either way, their good deed for the day is done. Both men return to Dewford no worse for their labors.

“Arceus, it hurts.” Once again, he would be dead, were it not for the boons born of his sworn oath. Looking up to the wolf, he sees that she is tired, too. Both feel rest and Avalon calling to them. It will come, but not now. Warriors do not rest in battle.[break][break]
“Zacian. You n’ Genny handle the rest. I’ll hold these up.” All he can do is give her one more gift, one more taste of strength that allowed her to fight even the Skeleton Gigantic. A black orb rests in his hands, and he throws it. Zacian is crowned in the light of a hundred gleaming worlds. Once more, she rushes to fight Kyogre.[break][break]
Her wild charge towards Kyogre is a mad thing, born of desperate hope, a warrior’s frantic desire to subjugate the primordial Leviathan before the whole region is flooded.

Location: D4. Navy is about to fall into the water but uses his avatar powers to raise metal from sunken buildings to serve as impromptu platforms for people throughout the city. Lands on one, gets struck by Calyrex. Uh oh sisters. He's gonna have to rest after the raid. He tells Genny the rest is up to her, turns Zacian Stellar type. Zacian uses wild charge on Kyogre.

Gramps sees it coming too late. He raises a cry, lost in the throes of his own rage. Far away, he hears a shouted command.[break][break]

It's an admirable idea, but it fails the way so many admirable ideas do. Too little, too late, not precise or effective enough. Barbed rocks ping off of the screen. Some stop, some are pivoted away. Far too many are not. They bang against his skin, little nicks and cuts adding up to a tumultuous collision with the ground. When Gramps lands, he does not rise again. The effort is there. He coughs, sputters, tries to cry his protest and rouse himself. Ultimately, he lays still. Soft breathing still rises and falls along his body, so at least death does not take him.[break][break]
"Huh." Says the Sheriff in a disappointed grunt. "Guess it really is your win."
