”Unsure about doing the gym circuit,” he admitted frowning slightly. ”I’ll need to think more about the whole gym thing. But in the meantime I wouldn’t mind having a friendly battle. I’m sure my Pokémon would enjoy the chance to show off their battle prowess,” he said with a chuckle as he remember how Nebula had seemed to enjoy going up against the side pokemon.

Hearing his next response he sighed. ”It’s unfortunate really. I’m sure my father will be proud of me for once if that happened,” he said clearly not fond of the idea of being made to fight. It wasn’t out of selfishness. Don’t get him wrong he liked helping those around him. But hurting others didn’t sit well with him, even if it was his Pokémon that was doing the hurting. It would still be under his orders.

As Josh talked about Twilight and mega stones he couldn’t help but he curious. ”Didn’t know mega stones could break. But it’s a good thing you got another one,” he said before continuing. ”What exactly did you have to do to get a new one though?”

Josh had gotten dessert as well though he had gotten cheesecake and brownie bites. He wondered if the older male had a bit of a sweet tooth. The gym leader seemed pretty fit though. Deciding it didn’t really matter he just went back to the poker table after making sure Josh and Makoto knew where he was going.

In the end Josh was the only one to join him and they played against each other. He showed his cards and saw that compared to Josh he had the better hand. ”Seems I won this hand. Want to catch the fireworks?” he inquired already getting up. He was starting to get a slight headache but figured viewing the fireworks wouldn’t hurt.

Without another word he made his way out to see the fireworks on the balcony only looking behind him once to see if the gym leader was following. About half an hour later he was regretting his earlier thoughts. Now his head was pounding. He knew it was because he wasn’t used to sweets. Having rarely eaten them even before he left his home region.

Turning to the dark haired male he gave him an apologetic smile. ”I’m afraid I’m going to have to take my leave. I’m getting a headache. Seems years of very little sweets doesn’t prepare you well for something as sweet as those tarts,” he told the older male.

Jade fished his pasta and watched as it was cleared away. It seemed that wasn’t the end of the night though. As there was a multitude of other things they could do to end the night. The mention of dessert was what drew their attention most and he barely paid attention to what else was said after that. Considering he kept a pretty close eye on what he ate he didn’t eat sweets very often. It wouldn’t hurt him to indulge just this once.

He turned to his companions. ”I’m to check out deserts. You can both join me or I could grab you both one if either of you want desert,” he told them. He would wait for their decision before getting up to check out the deserts. Drawn instantly to the berry tarts he put one on a desert plate before making his way back to the table.

Sitting back down he began to enjoy the dessert. Before long he was done. That had been pretty good. But then again he had always had a soft spot for tarts. Especially if they were some kind of fruit tart. Once he was done he would return his attention to his companions.

”Well I think I’m going to try gambling again and then check out the fireworks,” he told them before getting up. ”You’re free to rejoin me,” he said before walking off. He went back to the poker tables and asked the dealer to deal him in. The young man would then look over his cards for a bit before deciding what to do.

To his relief the older male seemed to be okay. Well not to hurt anyway. Compared to what could’ve happened a sprained ankle was nothing. The two Zigzagoon could’ve seriously hurt him if he hadn’t had Nebula step in. There was a reason people normally didn’t use themselves as target practice for Pokémon moves after all.

”It’s good you’re not to hurt. Shame about the ankle though. Unfortunately I’m not the type to carry around bandages. My only advice is that you be careful about walking on it since that could make the sprain worse if you’re on it to much,” he told the brunette. Once he was sure he could stand on his own he moved back a bit but it was clear he was still keeping an eye on him. Ready to move forwards if his ankle couldn’t support him.

The weather institute was somewhere he had never thought of going before. ”Can’t say I ever thought of going there before. But I’m sure if you really wanted to go you could look for someone with ride Pokémon that would be willing to take you there. A ride Pokémon would keep you from putting weight on your ankle as well,” he told him trying to make him feel better.

The fact he was a freelance reporter was definitely a surprise. ”I’m from Shinnoh as well,” he said not seeming particularly happy about that fact. To be fair his time in Shinnoh hadn’t been filled with many good memories thanks to his father trying to control every aspect of his life. He figured Ryan had happier memories of Shinnoh though so he would try and keep his dislike to a minimum.

My names Jade Rivers and I’m an idol still in the process of getting my name out there though,” he explained unsure if he would recognize his name. If he did there was no point in hiding what he did for a living which is why he told him he was an idol.

He said his fair well to Yumi Hasegawa before following Makoto Kurumi over to where Josh Devlin was seated. He sat down before perusing the menu. The older male’s question gave him pause though and he looked up at the gym leader. Asparagus wasn’t something he gave much thought. To be honest it was kind of one of those things where he could take it or leave it.

Thankfully Makoto offered to take the vegetable off Josh’s hands. ”I could take it or leave it so if you’re okay taking it that’s fine with me,” he told Makoto. ”Don’t think the asparagus will go well with pasta anyway,” he said voicing what he planned to order. Out of all the options that had seemed the most appealing. He wouldn’t mind the steak either but he couldn’t stand rice and he wasn’t real fond of sweet potato either.

Hearing Josh’s response he couldn’t help but grin. ”I would be lying if I said that wasn’t one of the factors that had brought me here tonight. I’m pretty good at card games if my luck isn’t poor anyway,” he said with a shrug before deciding to comment on what their other companion had said. ”The slot machines just give me a headache so I avoid them. At least with cards I don’t have to deal with that.

The waiter came by and he placed his order for the pasta. He turned his attention back to the others frowning when Dewford Town was brought up. ”Hmmm…..no. Can’t say I have,” he said before nodding when he heard Makota’s comment. The comment of a new gym leader grabbed his attention once more, even if battling didn’t interest him much that didn’t mean he didn’t find that kind of news interesting.

Despite his work as an idol he often took to wandering so it wouldn’t be uncommon for him to wander over to wherever the new gym leader had his gym.

A commotion would draw his attention away from overlooking the water and he would turn his attention back towards the way he had come. Hearing only part of a conversation he wondered if people were giving someone trouble. Nebula had moved towards the sounds but he hung back wanting to know more of what was going on before just charging into a situation.

As a man tumbled out of the tall grass Nebula would have to jump back to avoid getting knocked over. It was at this point that Jade would start to move closer, since it didn’t seem like the other male was a threat. Spotting the Zigzagoon he would fail to notice how the brunette reacted to Nebula.

”Nebula send those Zigzagoon packing,” he would order the dark type. Having his orders the Absol would attack the Zigzagoon. It didn’t take long for the Zigzagoon to decide the couldn’t take on Nebula and to take off running. Once he was sure they wouldn’t be coming back he would approach the older male.

”Hello are you okay?” he inquired as he held out a hand to help the older male up. It was shocking the Zigzagoon had gone for the older male when he hadn’t had any Pokémon out. The young man could tell that it was hard for her to keep her eyes closed from the way she would sometimes squeeze her eyes closest. The fact she would have trouble keeping her eyes closed wasn’t to surprising. It was pretty common in children especially young ones. After all many children lacked patience. Though for some it would be for another reason entirely.

The wait wasn’t too long though since it didn’t take long memorizing a card. Especially considering the card he had pulled. Any of the really important cards would be easy to remember. After he had told her that he had replaced the card she would thank him before continuing the trick.

He would watch as she reshuffled the deck which would mix his card in among the others. The young man would keep an eye on her hands until she came to a stop and with a snap had the Ace of Spades face up. Seeing his card he would clap. ”That was great, especially considering that was my first magic trick,” he would tell her as he took the offered card back.

Hearing her response about him signing the card he couldn’t help but chuckle. The young man nodded in agreement. He had met some eccentric people throughout his life that he felt he would’ve been better off never meeting. They had been a little too eccentric. The trick to being eccentric was only to be a bit eccentric, like being eccentric with your sense of fashion or with likes and dislikes like he was.

If someone was to eccentric it was possible to come off as annoying. Which is why he was careful to only be a little eccentric. ”I try to be eccentric in moderation. It’s try that being eccentric can be bad if the person is to eccentric,” he said it clear from his tone he had met such people before.

”I’m more eccentric when it comes to fashion and with some of my likes and dislikes, but it stops there,” he told the older male with a small shrug. Some people were eccentric with everything they did. From the way they acted to the clothes he wore. But he found that once people started to be eccentric in the way they acted they became annoying. Of course he would never say as much.

Once he was handed the different variations of the rock version he would look over them before choosing the one he liked best. After choosing the one he liked best he would give the ones he didn’t choose back to the older male. When the older male was ready he would try out the vocals to get more of a feel for the song.

Before they got into vocals the former idol brought up outfits. Which was definitely something to consider. ”I have pictures on my phone, but I’m open to ideas as well,” he told Niky taking out his phone and pulling up his photos before handing over his phone. Luckily the young woman would halt in her speech as he held up his hand. It would give him time to respond to everything she had said. While he spoke he would keep his attention focused on the young woman. So he noticed how she seemed to perk up with he confirmed that he in fact did know her. Considering his curiosity of any other people who was creative in nature it actually wasn’t to surprising that he would know of her.

She let him continue speaking thankfully. Because he just wanted to get through everything she had already told him before he added more that he had to get through. It seemed his understanding about putting in the hard work only to have all that hard work go to waste got made her feel better. But he still wanted to show her how much he appreciated what she had done so he began to compliment her.

He was tempted to continue showering her with compliments upon seeing her cheeks start to redden. However he decided not to give into temptation this time, deciding to give into curiosity instead. The fact she wasn’t going to preform herself was definitely a bit of a let down.

He probably would’ve said something else but a commotion near by caught his attention and he turned his head to watch as an argument broke out between two contestants. It was hot out. Hotter than he would like. But he still wanted to take a walk. He had practiced his dance routine enough and he needed something else to do so he had decided that a walk was in order. It was either that or sit around his house. Which is definitely not something he liked the idea of.

It might be his house but outside of sleeping he was rarely in it. He much preferred spending the day wandering if he didn’t have a dance routine to practice. The young man found just sitting around the house to be boring. So he usually didn’t do that.

There was a problem with going out in such heat though. So use to dressing to impressive, even if his sense of style could be a bit eccentric, he didn’t have very much summer wear. He would look through them frowning before sending on a nice dark blue t-shirt that was probably designed over a pair of black cargo shorts. To top it off he would wear a pair of black sandals.

He took one last look at his appearance before heading out the door making sure to grab a pair of sunglasses on the way out. Once outside Nebula would greet him and he would give the Absol a pat before gesturing for the dark type to fall in at his heels before making his way over to where the ferry often picked people up.

The rest of the trip would be a blur and he would soon find himself on route 118. A route he had met Josh Devlin on to take riding lessons. It had a nice view which is why he had come here. Wanting to be closer to the water he would move through some of the tall grass until he reached the waters edge. No wild Pokémon jumped out at them probably intimidated by the larger than average Absol that walked at his heels. Hopefully it wouldn’t keep people from approaching as well.[break] Ryan Clark
