    It is good to hear that Slateport will be safe once more, the shore and sea will be free of the filth that was Rocket. Again, I cannot stress this enough, if the League needs any help in restoring Slateport the Abbiati and the Crown are here to help. I have kin who call Slateport home and I pray that they survived the Rocket invasion.

As for my Gym duties, I have four challengers, not including yourself who wish to test the waters of the Gym of Lore. Currently, mateo martinez and kyle lopez have bested me in battle and earned the Rune badge, as well as teaching one another about the lore of the land.

    If you so wish, and persephone amavi agrees, you may have simultaneous battles. The Professor has requested a simple three versus three battle while you, if I recall correctly, asked for the most challenging of my trials. So be it. Should she agree, I will battle the Professor directly while you face off against one of my Gym Trainers, Balder Schwartz, who is a talented trainer in his own right. Once your battle with him is over and my battle with persephone amavi has finished, you and I shall battle. Do let me know if this works, and if the Professor agrees.

piplup was ready this time. he knew that stupid egg pokemon was focusing on him and took a precautionary move to jump out of the way ~~it was actually quite funny because it looked like he was trying to fly as he flapped his little wings~~ and let loose an icy wind to propel him away. brionne, unfortunately, knew the end was near. with her speed outclassing that of the enemy in addition to the rain, she was still faster than the electric snake. she used aqua jet to slap azumarill towards the annoying togepi before subcumming to the wid charge. she fainted, and a red light recalled her to a pokeball in olivia's hand. yet, calypso was not done. as she flew across the field, her aqua tail was ready to smack the togepi.

the sootopolis gym leader mumbled a quick prayer before pocketing actaea's pokeball. "well done, challenger, but the battle is not yet over." olivia commented before adding, "good to hear, i take it you have faced off against the newest gym leader of your hometown then?" she asked curiously. "regardless, i find it interesting you speak of lugia. have you had an encounter with the sea guardian?" she arched a brow before asking, "or perhaps another legendary?"

the second psychic attack struck true, and an annoyed peep was the piplup's response before she let loose a second icy wind that blew across the field. her brionne and azumarill, however, worked in tandem. the seal pokemon used aqua jet to hurtle itself at the togepi with caplyso the azumarill riding on top, her bobbing ball of a tail glowing blue with her HUGE POWER. they were aiming for an aqua jet and aqua tail combo.

olivia chuckled, "no, the guardian of the sea is far more active than the giant that slumbers." olivia answered in the tone with which a teacher would speak. she asked, "curious you bring up lugia and not one of the other legendaries that roam hoenn. are you not a native?"

olivia crashed into the sea, water splaying around her. it was a nostalgic feeling, a reminder of the many many times she was forced into the water by her older sister and other priestesses of the waters. regardless, she managed to climb back aboard to see sharpedo closing in around them. she didn't feel threatened by any means, her own carvanha was a soft little cry baby when not battling and paid them little mind; however, she did get to see ALEXANDER STONE fail once more.

perhaps it was her turn to try the fabled magikarp splash.

To FERNANDO SILPH ,

    I completely understand the efforts being made in the reconstruction of Slateport and am more than willing to send any aide or resources - financial or otherwise - to secure the city once more. Do not hesitate to contact me if need be.

However, I find myself incredibly busy with challengers and the general upkeep and protection of Sootopolis. I fear you may have to wait some time before I can get to your scheduled gym battle as there is a que and I would hate to have the next champion of Hoenn waiting because someone wished to skip the line. If you so wish, we can schedule a private meeting - and battle if you care for it - within the next week; perhaps after my battle with persephone amavi as I have been looking forward to meeting with a fellow professor. Again, this challenge would be on a need to know basis as I do not want the other challengers in que to think they are being "skipped" or I am showing my fellow peers within the League some sort of "favortism".

    The choice is yours, Silph. We may have a private inspection or battle or what have you as to not discourage the other challengers in que, or you may wait your turn; but I understand you are a very busy man.

actea acted first, and fast; using aqua jet to scoop up the piplup before the blast could send it flying. a peep of surprise came from the penguin as it swatted the seal pokemon away, followed by more angry peeps. he let loose a bubble beam at the togepi in retaliation, the rain causing the bubbles to become larger as they shot through the air. calypso, meanwhile, focused on the sound of the falling rain, and soon, spinning aqua rings enveloped her.

"perhaps you should." olivia replied cooly before continuing, "the legendaries are incredibly powerful, capable of shaping the very world we live in. they are the forces of nature given physical form, yet, it seems most have forgotten or do not 'care' for them as they once did. this city, sootopolis, is said to house a sleeping titan deep within the cave of origin. would you happen to know which one?"

back to the crashing waves olivia went, noting the huge whale. she really needed a couple of those for sootopolis. nothing says blockade like a wailord. those were thoughts for a distant shore, and olivia needed to focus if she was going to succeed in her next move.

with her own high pitched whistle, olivia and the mantine attempted a starmie 720.

olivia dropped off her raging carvanha in a hurry, as her duties always kept the ocean queen busy. especially too busy to deal with the ego bruised chione. the daycare staff took him happily enough, and after a warning to keep him away from other pokemon, they left the fish in a solitary tank.

chione was salty. salty like the sea. he lost to a stupid LIZARD. a LIZARD. a LAND WALKER. HOW. WHY. HOW. WHY. these questions kept swimming through his mind as he rammed his head into the tank over and over, the sound echoing through the hall.

i. olivia never met someone who was not a blood relative until she turned eighteen.

ii. olivia hates bug pokemon.

iii. olivia completed the sinnoh gym circuit.

iv. olivia is fluent in multiple languages, including dead ones. she can read runes and other archaic writings due to her research and upbringing.

v. olivia loves high fashion and indulging in trendy magazines is her guilty pleasure.

vi. olivia speaks in a particular, or some might call it snobby, way. this is partially due to the very formal manner in which she was raised and her years of proper speaking/writing in academia.

vii. olivia had a miscarriage shortly before she left sinnoh - it may or may not be one of the reasons she took on the role as a gym leader.

viii. olivia spends much of her free time reading by the beach when not busy with her other duties.

ix. olivia does not enjoy catching pokemon. she would rather leave them in their natural habitat, but will catch or rescue a pokemon in need. the majority of her pokemon are rescues or gifts.

x. olivia refuses to get inebriated if possible; she hates not being in control of herself. not to say she won't enjoy a nice red wine or mimosa on the beach, but only a glass or two. this, unsurprisingly, has left her with a hatred of drugs.

xi. olivia recently bought her first cell phone and only because the league required for her to have one in case of emergencies. she does not use it often, and instead keeps it hidden in a pocket or purse.

xii. olivia is a talented singer and okay dancer, if not for her intellectual inclination she may have become a coordinator.

xiii. olivia has no idea who her father is, nor does she care.

xiv. olivia and her two other sisters do not get along.

as olivia made her way through the gym circuit to visit her peers, she couldn't help but attend the renaissance fair that had parked itself outside of fortree. her childhood would have fit perfectly in an exhibition or fair activity, the ancient ways of the abbiati having been practiced since the very first of her clan took to the seas. it was, in a way, nostalgic.

it was also an opportunity to show off her sense of fashion. the foreign queen wore a flowing gown of silver and sapphire, the gems encrusted along the hemlines. it was sleeveless, given the sweltering summer heat; yet that did not take away from the elegance of the dress. various legendary pokemon had been embroidered along the back of the dress and came along with a simple rendition of kyogre (made of blue sapphires) and groundon, detailed in pearls, fighting at the bust of the dress. finally, olivia bore the crown of stone that she had brought to sootopolis for her coronation. she hadn't worn it since, given the negative attention she received, but thought it appropriate given the others who were dressed up.

and one attendant, in particular, caught her eye. one of the newest gym leaders, thomas benoit. perhaps she wouldn't have a need to visit his gym after all. olivia approached, dress rustling in a light summer breeze, and said with a friendly smile, "hello there, mr benoit, you look just like the knight in shining armor i needed." an airy chuckle followed, bubbly and carefree.

"flurry." olivia ordered, and her pokemon obeyed. the seal pokemon released a cyan cloud of misty terrain from her mouth that quickly enveloped the entire field, making it difficult to see and coating all in its fairy fog. meanwhile, her other pokemon acted in tandem: calypso wiggled her bobbing tail in a rain dance, causing a downpour to fall on them, while her piplup opened it's beak to release a blast of icy wind that sent the venomous spray back in the direction it came.

"tell me, kyle, what do you know of the legends of the land?" olivia asked, a brow arched. it was time to teach.
