Remiel is snapped out of his window gazing when Earl Grey returns, smoothly floating over a cup of steaming tea with its ghostly telekinesis. He thanks the little butler with a nod, taking the teacup with two fingers before acknowledging Diana's question with a troubled look. After a reluctant pause, he answers with a question of his own.[BREAK][BREAK]

"You didn't agree, I take it?" He asks, setting his teacup down on the side table to keep it from fogging his glasses as it cools down. "Given our situation at that moment... it seemed the right thing to do. Especially after everything we'd been put through." The exiled royal adds with a cold and nonchalant expression on his stoic face.[BREAK][BREAK]

After reaching down to pick up his share of surfaced treasures, Remiel tries to shake off most of the sludge before stuffing them away in his bag. "I wouldn't say I'm an expert," He responds. "But I suppose ETERNATUS has been a topic of study for me as of recent."[break][break]

That said, he smiles at the sight of the KABUTOPS she has managed to evolve. "Impressive, doctor. You'd be a natural paleontologist, I'm sure." The EXACTING adds moments before the structural integrity of the tunnel is tested.[break][break]

The combined frequency of their METAL SOUND vibrates their surroundings sufficiently. The fleshy walls and the pulsing ground beneath their feet seem agitated by it. What seems like veins grow darker in contrast. And, despite the slight ringing in his ears, Remiel tries to bring Eva's attention to them.[break][break]

"We've caused an internal chain reaction. If I had to guess, there's a flood coming our way!" Swiftly, the royal unclips another Luxury Ball from his belt before summoning a DRAGONAIR and returning his Kabuto. Mounting the serpent and clinging to it with a single arm, he turns to her and continues. "Move forward as quickly as your Pokémon can take you, Eva! APOPHIS, AQUA JET!"[break][break]

And, just as a flood of purple poison crashes around the corner behind them, his Dragonair zooms forward with a blast of water.[break][break]

Remiel stops short of returning the Duduncesparce when Eva Morales approaches with an antidote. Relieved, he thanks her and watches as the doctor begins administering it. "I've only been here once before. Everything else I've learned through reports," He explains, watching as the purple veins across the land snake's body slowly begin to fade away. "I really must be more careful..."[break][break]

And, with the addition of the MISTY TERRAIN, Remiel's Pokémon effectively appears to heal. "Seems like it worked. Thank you, Eva." The prince smiles at her with gratitude, returning Bucciarati to his ball before rising from his crouch as he reaches for another. "But I'm afraid our worries don't end there." He nods toward the freshly excavated but unfinished tunnel ahead.[break][break]

"You have a KABUTO as well, right?" He thought he recalled giving her one for Hoennyule a year or two back, but his memory had been unreliable since his last encounter with mint frost at the DYNA TREE. Nevertheless, he summons his own with a toss and a flash of gold light. "They're adept at testing the structural integrity of their surroundings. Let's give it a go, shall we?"[break][break]

Not long after that, the trilobite scuttles forward and raises its front claws before unleashing a sharp METAL SOUND down the murky purple depths.[break][break]

Remiel sincerely laments the loss of Howard's artifact. It weighs on his expression darkly, a flicker of fire sparking to life in his eyes when he considers that the new ADMIN FOX could be to blame. He'd heard rumours of his replacement's deeds. And, in a way, he felt responsible for all of it— like this was someone he needed to prioritize tracking down as soon as possible.[break][break]

But, whoever the new ADMIN was, the EXACTING was certain they'd eventually come scurrying out into the light themselves. He just needed to apply more pressure to TEAM ROCKET as a whole. Give Walsh something to seethe about after burning down one operation too many.[break][break]

In response to his colleague's offer, however, the archaeologist forces a smile and nods. "Likewise. The DARKEST DAY is one of the factors that led to my resignation as GALARIAN AMBASSADOR," He explains, shifting his eyes away with a hint of shame. "It's why the GALAR-HOENN relationship has been so fractured since then."[break][break]

Needless to say, any insights into the subject might prove beneficial to healing said fracture between the two regions and assisting GALAR's current ambassador to HOENN: Elise Calcifet herself.[break][break]

Her words amuse him. She'll probably take offense to the smile at the corner of his lips and the reason behind it, but they're more alike than either thought. Despite his mistakes, Remiel, too, shared a sense of infallibility that came with his IDEALISTIC purpose.[BREAK][BREAK]

"A lady of the people, hm? The kind someone like my mother could admire, no doubt." The QUEEN of Galar certainly wasn't a saint either. She'd done her fair share of questionable acts for the 'good' of the people. And plenty, he suspected, that would shock said people.[BREAK][BREAK]

A gentle wind blows through the area, sweeping leaves across the craters in the ground as Remiel lightly scoffs in response to Councilwoman Livy's next inquiry. "I was born into a world of politics and royal disputes, Miss Livy. Shaped by it. It's not that I don't care, but instead that I'm used to approaching such things... objectively." He adds, crossing his arms as he looks up past the bony-like branches of the DYNA TREE.[BREAK][BREAK]

"You want to rid the world of TEAM ROCKET, too, yes? Take a more... proactive approach?"

Upon entering the realm of the ULTRA SEA, Remiel Calcifet summons his DUNDUNSPARCE to DRILL RUN through the cave-like labyrinths ahead of them. Garbed in tactical gear, with a gas mask hanging off his hip, the EXACTING whips out a pick-axe from his bag and lets his eyes adjust to the sea-like lighting for a moment. "No sign of TEAM ROCKET... do you think we made it here first?"[break][break]

The man turns to regard the good doctor Eva Morales afterward: his companion for the perilous expedition ahead. "The more ground we take— the more we map— the sooner we can safeguard this realm and its resources."[break][break]

He nods afterward, guiding the way as they follow BUCCIARATI's trail. As soon as they reach the Dundunsparce, however, they find it heaving for breath at the end of a tunnel it has cleared.[break][break]

Its veins protrude from its skin, pulsing purple with each heartbeat. POISON has seeped into its pores during its drilling. Crouching beside it, Remiel places a reassuring hand upon its back. "I despise this place..." He sighs, pulling out the same Luxury Ball he'd used to summon the Land Snake Pokémon.[break][break]

The pair take off with their passengers in tow with little more to say. Only when they reach a certain altitude do they notice a storm fast approaching the horizon. Past the panels of the goggles he's placed on, Remiel squints and buttons his jacket shut.[break][break]

"Does that look natural to you?" He asks ever blackwell over the sound of the whipping winds. The speed with which that storm was traveling certainly didn't seem so. And, if the growl and sparking of Ratatoskr's cheeks was any indication, it certainly wasn't anything good.[break][break]

There had always been rumors of the ruins of a mysterious DRACONID clan atop the highest peak of METEOR FALLS. Allegedly, any archaeologist or treasure hunter who had gone looking for it in the past hundred years or so was now missing. Allegedly, the peak where it was said to be found was cursed.[break][break]

Remiel Calcifet had always considered it to be a tall tale, of course. While the peak of METEOR FALLS was not barren, it certainly wasn't the sort of place he would imagine people to settle down in. Bringing all the resources and tools needed for an excavation here would likely be too costly to consider profitable. Therefore, he hadn't even bothered to give this place a visit...[BREAK][BREAK]

Until now.

The mysterious disappearance of a museum benefactor who had gone in search of the 'cloud domain' immediately brought this to everyone's attention. The Galarian archaeologist had contacted Yuina Higashi with the offer of a personally funded research trip. No red tape. No waiting for anyone's financially motivated approval or expectations.[BREAK][BREAK]

Hiking up a slightly wooded trail that leads to a ridge, Remiel pauses to look over his shoulder and ensure his companion is keeping up well. "The sun is setting, but we'll reach the peak soon." He assures her, turning back ahead as his green APPLIN rolls along. "Thanks again for tagging along, Yuina."[BREAK][BREAK]

Sheltered below the canopy of the trees, Guavafang hangs upside-down from a branch and enjoys some fresh guava fruit as she peers at the two humans sitting on the bench nearby. Remiel seems nervous. Which is unusual for the man. That alone tugs on the Noivern's interest so much so that she uses her TELEPATHY to try and eavesdrop on what's happening.[BREAK][BREAK]

Remiel tries not to stare as Naia wrings out her hair, but her presence here is fascinating. Despite the danger, she was here. In a way, the EX-ADMIN is as flattered as he is befuddled. He hardly registers her scooting closer until she's pressed up right against him, expressing her longing for him after so long and drawing out his own emotions on the matter.[BREAK][BREAK]

"I... I've missed you, too. I was so confused when you left... angry, at first. Then just..." Sad. Not entirely unlike when Isra Nightingale had disappeared. Or when he'd broken things off with luka chêne for her own good. He lets his sentence trail off before answering her next statement with a solemn nod. "I think I've always known you were ROCKET. I just refused to believe it."[BREAK][BREAK]

He gulps. Their closeness does not go unnoticed. He'd yearned for her touch as much as he'd yearned to speak with her. The warmth her mere presence provided was enough to stave off the cold from the rain. The royal hopes to impart that feeling to her as he reaches over, sheltering her trembling hand with his own and waiting for it to grow still.[BREAK][BREAK]

"My only question is... why, Naia?"

Following a mysterious clanging that echoes through the mist, Remiel finds a lonely CUBONE in a grassy clearing. It sits atop a large boulder, tapping its large bone against it with a blank stare. When it spots Chatarou nearby, however, it FLINGS said bone at the little Ghost-type.[BREAK][BREAK]

The Sinistcha avoids it effortlessly and then spits a SCALDING water in return. Punished for its aggression, the Cubone falls to the ground below and begins to wail as it cradles its face in its little hands. Annoyed, Remiel pulls out an empty Luxury Ball and tosses it for a capture.[BREAK][BREAK]

His righteous fury builds and crescendos as an aura of lightning surrounds him. No care is given to anyone caught in the crossfire as he unleashes this pent-up power, clearing the feathers away and overcharging nearby computer consoles before they explode.[BREAK][BREAK]

She has her illuminated snout pointed towards one side of the hallway. The wall there has completely collapsed, mounds of white stone giving way to the deep dark of a cave beyond. In the distance, however... the dim glow of crystals.[BREAK][BREAK]
