Kaida had decided she thoroughly hated medical facilities now, but this one wasn't very bad. At the very least, being in the nature-filled Fortree made this place more tolerable. Even if she really only remembered this place in regards to the Littleroot incident. Perhaps she'd make a good memory regarding winning a Gym battle, then perhaps she'd like this place besides the agreeable Alexei. [break][break]

She had chosen two Pokemon for the battle, one of which seemed like an odd choice for a Flying-type Gym, but she trusted Orvar. As long as Kjoll did his job, they'd be fine. [break][break]

"Hello?" She called out as she entered, "I'm here now." She was here to fly just a little, and leave behind some problems just for a moment in the heat of a safe battle.

Kaida is dumped among bloodshed and terror for her newest nightmare and, in all honesty, she isn't surprised by that fact. What is surprising though, is that it feels like she's watching a fever dream of a battle. Not like the war. Not like anything she's ever seen. The unknown Pokemon (Hoopa) cackles as its rings slice someone in twain, spilling blood as more of the terrible battle rages on. [break][break]

She doesn't know what else to do, but she runs, she runs for she feels the wind on her face. She's physical. If this monster kills her, she dies. So she runs towards the monster, Pokeball popping open to reveal Ormr as she roars, "Rattlesnake!" A move unheard of too, that she hopes strikes terror into this monster's heart, better for her to escape. [break][break]

Ormr clings to her neck, waving his rattle frantically until a droning rattle near shakes the air. It rumbles almost visibly, deep yet high, the sound somehow adding more fear to a nightmare already permeated by it.

As her Pokemon shot forwards, to greet and presumably explain the situation, Kaida hung back. She didn't think she could handle the full force of her Pokemon just get, and she could see Ormr take aside the newcomers of the family...they likely didn't know what their leader looked like, and needed him to explain that, yes, this small woman really was the family leader. She wasn't expecting kind words. Not now, over this. "I have to thank you for coming." She responded, even if nothing had happened, he still did come just in case. She had to thank her fellow Ranger for that, "If you need anything after this, I'll be happy to help." Paying back a favor was always her priority.

Kaida shrugged, eyes rolling down, "Killing...yes, that is still a hero." She didn't see the point in trying to pretend there was a difference. You fought for good intentions to help anyone, that's what made a hero. Who cared if they killed to do such things? [break][break]

"And killing them so they can replace the camp with more forces is a better idea?" She growled back, curling her lips distastefully, "Now they know this wasn't enough people, and they'll send more." Judging by the brief she had been given as a Ranger, numbers were no problem for the invaders. They weren't fighting people who would fear a camp disappearing, they'd just swarm the area more, suffocate it. It there were any survivors, even just a Ratatta, it was a goner now. [break][break]

Naive. Kaida clicked her tongue, irritation rising in her tone, "I'm here because I can recognize their behavior. It's very similar to a starving Pokemon, if encouraged by their orders. Not that I can see any of their behavior or orders anymore." Not for the first time, she thought the invader's leader was very foolish, pushing a battle like this on his people, "If all you can do is fight, you might as well wait until the battle starts...someone like you isn't going to change anything...maybe giving them a meal if you keep doing this." A single person would just get themselves killed trying to be a hero, and cause trouble in the process. [break][break]

Up in the trees, Glima croaked warningly. The enemy was coming, "We have to go." She didn't believe the woman would listen, but offered the words anyway, reaching a hand out as an extension of the offer. She could fly them both away if needed.

Perhaps this nightmare (she still wasn't sure what to call this experience) was starting to wind down, for she suddenly found herself within a forest...without anything drastic going on. She couldn't know the goal of this particular event, other than the fact that a ton of Bug-types were zipping around, she couldn't much understand that people were trying to capture the biggest in this particular moment. Instead, she flopped to the ground, seating herself as she rubbed her head and finally pinched her arm. She didn't wake. The beginnings of a scream started rising in her throat, how did she get in here, and how was she supposed to get out!? [break][break]

A sing-songy noise pinged in her ears, and she looked up to a very confused Kricketot, antennas hitting each other in a cautious greeting as it could swear that somebody was screaming. More bug-types responded, and some laid aggressive eyes on the little bug for causing a noisy ruckus so, without thinking, Kaida captured it in a Pokeball. She didn't mean to get a Pokemon hurt with her problems. [break][break]

DAPHNE STONE didn't even seem to have life to her anymore. Someone vaguely familiar (Stormy Silph ) was crying. Lots of people here were crying. Arceus what was she doing here!? Kaida wilted slightly, face pulled taut as she tried to come up with anything, something to say or do, that would convey something to a dead man she respected. Otherwise, what was the point of her being here? [break][break]

And then she bristles, the desperate and shallow glumness burning away as she crossed eyes with an actually familiar face. One she hoped she wouldn't have to see so soon after the war. FERNANDO SILPH , of all people. Kaida scowled unabashed momentarily, only managing to wrangle her lips back over her teeth with some effort. The very man that had died didn't seem to trust Fernando all too much, and she couldn't help but feel there wasn't much sadness added to this whole affair with the addition of the calm man. The burning anger (or was it that persistent pain in her side?) prompted her forward. Still unable to look at the body, she nonetheless spat the words out, "I'm sorry." Sorry for failing to protect him. Sorry she didn't cry like the others. Sorry he lived and died while she died and lived. "I'll...I will defend all these ones here." An empty promise here, but that didn't much matter in the face of her emotions. Alien, human, anything. If it means to harm her home more, she intended to show no mercy. All this alien blood on her hands, what was a human's?

Only human.. She grunted, wasn't that the unfortunate truth? A weak body that was more of a liability than a help to her Pokemon. That's what this body was. [break][break]

"Ok, if I get to tired I'll rest." She promised quietly, wishing that one of teammates here could carry her...Jotun could,, but she didn't trust him to handle her gently, not like this. She'd have to rely on her feet for this. [break][break]

It wasn't long before Jotun stopped, yellowed eyes wide as he suddenly jumped in place like a young child...it seemed the pack had guessed today would be the day Kaida returned, and had met them halfway. Maybe a little bit of warning would have been good, Kaida considered too late as an army of Pokemon rounded around the last building before wilderness, clearly searching for her, and raising a cry of glee as many eyes confirmed their leader. Quickly raising her hands, Ormr raising his head alongside her to signal to the Pokemon (Salamance, Seviper, Scyther, oh my!) To stop and wait for her. [break][break]

"We found them! This is my family!" She couldn't stop the happiness that bled into her voice, tired body radiating a relief as she finally confirmed them. Everyone was here...and then some.

She stayed silent as she sensed Lars flinch besides her, not daring to ask if he had a friend's name he saw...why would she? His reaction detailed it well enough. It did make that heaviness migrate within her chest though, and she swiped furiously at the ground as frustration bubbled in the base of her throat. [break][break]

"Me too...he helped me train, even before all this." Perhaps it was because if anything happened, the Rangers would be one of the first lines of defense, but that was no reason to help train a single Ranger. "He helped train Muspel and Kjoll." It was unfortunate that Kjoll couldn't come today, an Onix was a little too much of a liability to allow near a monument like this right now. [break][break]

"Since they knew him, I figured they'd be upset, so they're here to mourn." Was it too much wishful thinking to imagine Lars would just leave it at that? Her Pokemon were saddened, so she accompanied them here...was that too much?

Kaida ran a hand over her bandages, careful and feeling some kind of tinge of amusement. Last time she had participated in a battle like the war, she had succumbed to her wounds, but ultimately came out woundless. Some part of her wondered if that was the better of her results, rather than walking around weighing somebody else down with her weaknesses. "Thank you." [break][break]

To her credit, she tried to not move quickly, unwilling to create more of a problem. "Can you find us a...flat route?" She almost whispered to her Pokemon, ashamed at her certainty that, if they encountered any sort of blockade, she'd be unable to clear it. Jotun was the first of her Pokemon to respond, thumping forward down a street after a moment of thought...as ungainly as the gator was, she could probably trust he'd find the route with the least amount of problems. Kaida breathed out, a sort of preparation for moving some distance, then set off. "I...didn't think it would be so hard to move like this. Last time I fought, I wasn't injured like this." She neglected to mention what had happened, an untimely death.
