New family was welcomed, but she was still getting used to the new presence...particularly inside her head. Ullr was a Noivern, a species that was known to sometimes have Telepathy, but having little experience with psychic type or other Pokemon that communicated directly, Kaida still wasn't sure how to feel about the dragon responding to her every thought. She supposed she should thank her family for recruiting such helpful Pokemon during the war, she had to make them feel like family now. [break][break]

The Noivern shifted in midair, searching the small islands for signs of purple, another response to the picture inside her head about the poisonous aliens. There had been recent sightings of purple creatures wandering the islands of the water routes. Whether it was a false alarm, poisoned Pokemon, or alien troops that had retreated to the ocean, it was her job to take them all out. [break][break]

"Do you think its a real sighting?" She spoke, aware her other ally couldn't read her mind. A sort of dread entered her voice, mingled with anger. There was no doubt to her intentions. If the enemy was still here, she'd eliminate it with extreme prejudice. Maybe she wanted it to be a real sighting.

She still wasn't ok yet, oddly enough. Kaida still felt an odd heaviness clinging to her back, even though her wounds were healed enough to give her the clear for walking around. Perhaps they had been worse than she thought, because the pangs only grew larger as she stopped at her destination. A memorial. [break][break]

Pokemon and human names littered the structure...she couldn't tell the difference between them. A selfish thought rose in her throat, at the very least, none of my family is up there. Couldn't be a normal thought, but she made no effort to dismiss it. She was finding the pangs whenever she looked at the names, and the relief that her family wasn't killed, were starting to coexist in some loop. So many civilians she was unable to help, yet this was supposed to be a victory. [break][break]

Before she could think too deeply, and fall back into memories of deaths she should have prevented, a sad crooning broke her thoughts. Her Pokemon had accompanied her, either to protect their injured leader in the case of Ormr, or to mourn themselves in Muspel's and Bragi's case. She hadn't made Silk come. The serpent had been throughly exhausted by his Mega-Evolution and attacks in the rain...she also had a feeling the Sandaconda was a more private creature, he wouldn't want to come here in a group. In her case, she carried a broom. [break][break]

It all seemed so logical. If cleaning her little "shrine" was a form of respect to it, then it only stood to reason that this was a form of respect. So as Muspel read over the names and whimpered, and as Bragi waddled forward to put flowers down, Kaida started to sweep dust away...she was glad the presence of Ormr never left, for some reason his weight countered the heaviness that started to accompany her like a burn.

As Holland asked about the rest of her Pokemon, Kaida looked towards Ormr, expecting a response. The serpent quietly nodded, looking out towards the wilderness, perhaps one of her own had spotted her from the air and sent these four to properly retrieve her...she was glad they were proactive, though she wished they hadn't almost attacked a fellow Ranger, they were like a family, they couldn't attack family. "They're nearby. A little outside these parts." She "translated" helpfully. [break][break]

Rather unhappily, though obediently, she settled down as she was told her protector would check her wounds. It wasn't a question, and she wasn't interested in wasting time arguing about her (lack of) well-being. "It's nothing dangerous." She spoke,, lowering her Ekans to the ground and waiting until she was given the clear. [break][break]

"I think these two are new family members. We're pretty extensive, so it shouldn't be hard to find them anymore." She mumbled as a small explanation, looking over the two new Pokemon as names zipped across her mind. Jotnar and Sormr were good names, correct?

This was an experience she could have safely never had, Kaida thought. [break][break]

She couldn't even say she was truly friends with the man, they had trained for danger together, and that was all she could dare to say. Friends were closer than that, she thought, and so she crushed down her encroaching, bitter sadness down into the pit of her stomach. Another failure to take on her back, she had promised to protect him. [break][break]

She feels a stranger as she walks in, resisting the urge to show her teeth as she can swear that nobody looked like her...tugging on her sleeves and walking stiffly. Her first funeral, and she knows that she looks the part. [break][break]

And she stops. Away from the casket, not daring to look within. Her stomach hurts and, not for the first time today, she wishes she brought her team. If she didn't worry about showing the proper respect to the man personally, she would have no doubt brought everyone. [break][break]

The faces are strange, and she recognizes Daphne only on the basis of her proximity, the fact she was the only person not looking serious or sad...the smile was fake, she hoped, there was no way one could be happy here. "Greetings." She mumbles, bowing her head before continuing, "I...I'll be quiet during this, I promise." She wasn't going to fill the air with her words when she should have prevented this entire event.

Kaida doesn't recognize the newest area she arrives in, but she does know one thing, she doesn't was to be trapped. [break][break]

Still, she does wonder what exactly she was participating in as the Mantine that kindly allowed her on its back started to flip and turn in midair...what was this event? [break][break]

She would have to focus on the newcomers later. [break][break]

Jotun rumbled and clasped his claws uncertainly, the giant gator suddenly looking about as uncertain as a child. "Jotun. We're fine." She directed at him quickly, "You heard him. He's a Ranger." And the uncertainty was gone. Jotun leapt aside, tail cracking against the ground like a puppy as he drew uncomfortably close...if the man still wasn't kind of a stranger, there was no doubt in Kaida's mind that the gator would attempt to hug the man, maybe later. [break][break]

"Ormr, um, tell our newcomers here I'm the leader. I'm telling them to relax. Stop baring their teeth." At her command, Ormr hissed at the Drapion and Arbok, who backed away slightly...they weren't listening to her commands well. She'd have to fix that later. She had no business with a team that didn't listen well. [break][break]

"Sorry." She leaned down, welcoming the Ekans onto her shoulder. It ached, but it was far better than having his presence gone, "This is Ormr, he's my partner. That's Jotun." She indicated towards the Feraligatr, then paused a long moment, "...I don't know these two, though." At least she could safely say she found her team, no doubt Ormr knew where the rest of her team was staying.

She was smaller than the woman, by quite some height she noted, but she refused to back up. Her white teeth showed, almost a smile, almost a snarl. "Vigilante". "Monsters". Her eyes rolled away, clearly unbelieving. Hunting monsters? Is that truly what she thought she was doing? "Vigilante...that means a type of "hero", right?" There was a sneer in her voice, jaws tight, "You're not saving anybody, they all died a long time ago." Any humans or Pokemon that could be saved were gone. It was all food by now. [break][break]

Ormr creeped forwards, and Glima tensed in the trees, but neither moved forwards like the vigilante's Pokemon did. Kaida hadn't called them yet, so they wouldn't move. Their cameras kept recording. [break][break]

"I'm Kaida." Her name wasn't a problem, and neither was her job, "I'm here to record all their camps and forces...you just ruined my job." Perhaps there was the hope this camp would continue working as she saw it, but she doubted it. More forces would likely come here, which meant more death...if this camp vanished, she could only imagine how the invaders would react. "I was supposed to watch what they were doing, but that is finished, I suppose. I will be leaving, and so will you. Can't have you ruin other jobs." Now she stepped forwards, frown twisting her face as she glared at the Pokemon in her way. [break][break]

"You're just giving more problems. Am I supposed to let you get my allies killed?" An unpredictable fight would simply kill her allies, and she wasn't going to let it become more unpredictable.

There was a certain charm in someone who loved their Pokemon so openly, Kaida thought. She didn't smile, not even her small "curving" smile, but her eyes sparkled with a thoroughly charmed light. [break][break]

She didn't hesitate, spreading her arms towards one of the Audino. The gesture was slow, ready to retreat if rejected, but there was no need to worry. One of the Audino (she was still learning their names) leapt forward happily, and Kaida let out a chuckle under her breath. Perhaps unsurprisingly, she loved Pokemon too and, if it were like this, maybe she could rest for real. [break][break]

"I'll try to remember all of your names next time." She promised, she could only hope Bunni and the others would ne happy to see her and her team.

Unfortunately, Kaida had forgotten to specify. "Like an Ekans" pretty much meant anything with scales to her, not just serpents, so when a low, crocodilian growl rumbled in the air, that probably was not the idea of "like an Ekans". [break][break]

The Pokemon appeared in a flash, deceptively small shadows hiding their figures until they made themselves known. A giant Feraligatr rumbled to life, quickly putting himself between Kaida and Holland. Two serpents, an Ekans and Arbok, one a stranger to Kaida, quickly made their way to her, encircling her like a shield. Finally, even a Drapion shuffled from its perch, hissing long and scratchy noise. "Who are you? Ormr? Are they...new?" Kaida whispered the question, half of the Pokemon being unknown to her team. She didn't let Ormr give any answer though, as she realized that the way they were encircling her, they thought she was in danger. The remnants of blood scent on her and a human that was a stranger being present probably didn't help. "Er-you!" She warbled uncertainly, name escaping her memories as she called out to her partners, "He's an ally! He's helping...introduce yourself!" She still had to figure out who these newcomer Pokemon were.

Kaida resisted sighing out. If anything, she should be able to sympathize with doing something for the simple fact that it was her job, right? "I'm trying to be quick." She conceded quietly, hoping this would be over quickly. Unless they had reason to believe it was unsafe, her Pokemon should be eking out a living here...she hoped they were all ok. [break][break]

"If you see anything like an Ekans, please tell." If her new chaperone made this quicker, he could do something else faster, making this easier for the both of them. [break][break]

Unbeknownst to her, eyes were taking note of the humans walking, rising glee entering their features as they made certain that the other human wasn't a threat.
