WHEN DID SIMULATIONS EVER GET THIS REAL? Selena watches as the barrage of attacks from all sides leave the god Pokemon undented, seemingly irritated at the little creatures who pounce it like hell. But with just one widespread EARTHQUAKE, the land beneath them trembles and brings forth catastrophe.

It's time for Plan B. Selena should have filled at least half the alphabet at this point for backups.

The volcanic wasteland erupts with the tremors from the earth, molding the ground into an even more uneven playground for the Groudon. Thanks to the PROTECTION of the GOOMY, the rocky shrapnels are pushed away as the UMBREON's MOONLIGHT takes care of those that it missed. But with the terrain destroyed and her vantage point hindered by crawling magma and spiking stones, Selena and her team will have to rely on comms to locate each other.

On the other hand, targeting the Groudon's chest proves to be a useless attempt: the muscles of the dragonic creature has been hardened by age already. The CERULEDGE and GALLADE wild find even the finest cuts yet don't make the God bleed. Perhaps they might need first to weaken its core; this is the time when the Groudon successfuly grabs the Gallade by its hands.

"Ashley Shepard, great job on assisting. Hitoshi Inoue, don't worry about your Gallade: we'll get them. Continue finding its weak spot!"

The DELPHOX stands in her place, moving upon her trainer's commands. Circe lifts her staff and places her hand behind it: an orb of green forms from what was once a ball of fire until a FOCUS BLAST hits its hand holding the Gallade, aiming to let the Pokemon free.

Selena hears the wincing behind Ashley Shepard's words and orders CHIMECHO to find him. Soteria returns the favor and chimes the HEAL BELL for Ashley Shepard. "No one gets left behind."

Groudon stirs the earth with its cry, the Continental God posing to do another deathly move. It looks directly at Selena and acknowledges it as a threat: a HAMMER ARM swings by its left before the HATTERENE quickly intervenes with a MAGIC POWDER to the God's eyes, hoping the power from the PSYCHIC TERRAIN continues to amplify its effect.

THE MEMORY CONFIRMS THAT THE MATTERS ARE CIRCUMSTANTIAL AND NOT A PREDETERMINED ONE: if Selena is correct to assume, then their fate relies on what they do next. If she is to believe the CALYREX and its words, then it is their action that affects the story.

The High King is cryptic but its words hold true to what she actually sees.

When Selena finally opens her eyes after being teleported, her gaze scans throughout the remains of Hammerlocke, except this might just be a memory reconstructed as well. The city is very different from what she used to know: the barren wasteland of what was once a city is enveloped by the venomous liquids and people who look like they are from the feudal years are hiding behind their pitchforks and sickles.

This is definitely not Galar, Selena accepts. But it might definitely be the place where they chronicle 'stories of heroism' and be the harbingers to the Hero of Many Battles. She almost laugh at the prospect, recalling her conversation with Cillian Quinn how Team Rocket can never be heroes. It turns out he might be wrong.

She scans the area for teammates but only Ashley Shepard is there. And she sees an awful lot of familiar faces—that of Alexei Ivanov, maverick noah ryder, Thomas Benoit, Kazimir Wynter, Remiel Calcifet—people who have been her allies and friends in the past. They do not know that she defected yet. They may not even know she is here with them in this nightmare. It goes without saying that this is another reminder for her to be cautious about her actions.

"Ashley Shepard." For the first time in a while, Selena finally uses the Rocket comms to her S.P.E.C.T.R.A. Teammate. "Selena here. We're outnumbered in Hammerlocke. Best to be in touch and just keep to ourself, gather information in the mean time before we do stuff. Do you copy?

If the other has sharp ears, he can hear the panting in Selena's voice as she runs around the city with Lucifer to help find the hiding peasants. The Umbreon eventually PASSES THE BATON to the Flutter Mane, allowing the former to finally rest. Podarge then soaks from all the power it can get from the MIDDAY sun as it prepares for what is to come.

"PEASANTS OF GALAR, UNITE! You have the power to change your story. Use your pitchforks and sickles and fight! You will never die in vain."

Her wornout voice is an echoing noise throughout the city, a feeble reminder of what is to come. Perhaps, Elise Calcifet previous endeavors already helped convince the few to take action for themselves. Perhaps, they will realize that there is nothing else to lose. After all, it is the masses that are the motive forces in the making of a history. Selena believes that a hero will not accomplish any feat without the support of the toiling masses.

Those who have been roused are escorted by Selena to stations where they need to setup barricades for city defenses. All kinds of things: tools, rubbles, rocks, are all piled up into walls to protect from the incoming attacks. And as the masses finally move, so does Selena with her plan.

She meets with paxton concordas, Thomas Benoit, Kazimir Wynter who have already been in the Castle Wall. She makes no effort introducing herself anymore and proceeds to investigate what is happening to the Power Spot. She observes the poison oozing from the stone cap and tries to recall if this is similar to that of the poison in the wooden effigy from the Wyndon Stadium. Is this related?

From under her breath, she speaks in a hushed tone in her comms to Ashley Shepard. "Updates?"

SELENA KNEW Bailey Cooper ONLY THROUGH FORMALITIES: ex-champ (when Hoenn's League hasn't yet changed the championship regulations), ex-avatar, ex-alive. Her death brings no surprise or anguish; Selena Desmarais is completely indifferent. But her power, from what she remembers, are awfully terrifying. If she is correct to assume, it is also what might have killed her.

Selena knows how overwhelming being the vessel of such power. Tapu Koko is gone but the vestiges of the immense trauma and excessive energy have never left her. What is it like to be filled with exorbitant force only to be taken away in an instant?

The Kalosian knows the feeling is not only mental. It is also physical.

Selena Desmarais soaks in the RAIN brought forth by Ashley Shepard's Goomy—a temporary solace amidst the OPPRESSIVE HEAT—but she knows it won't take long before the precipitation expends. She listens intently to Hitoshi Inoue and Ashley Shepard and the situation is as clear as the Groudon's HARSH SUNLIGHT: "Seems like 'THE SWORD' and 'THE SHIELD' of the Godkiller are now ready for some action!"

It is time for the brain to get amped up too.

The lady raises her head, eyes fixed at the sky, not minding the blinding brightness as she spreads her arms for a curtsy. The evaluators must be on the other side of the screen, she assumes, as she speaks her mind out loud with the two. "Then let's give them a show they will never forget."

"Bring out all your Pokemons. Ashley Shepard, stack up on Protect and Rain Dance. You can still use your Pikachu to distract the Groudon if you want to. Hitoshi Inoue, let's attack at all fronts. We lack the numbers so we have to improvise: best if we can spread out our offenses first before we go all in."

Selena commands thru the comms as she runs with her Pokemons around the Groudon. Her DELPHOX sets up the PSYCHIC TERRAIN as they dash, a purple dome expands from its staff as it attempts to cover the area surrounding the Groudon. The HATTERENE then proceeds with the EXPANDING FORCE: using the Delphox's setup as a catalyst for her attack. The purple dome compresses the Groudon and explodes in a wave of psychic power.

CHIMECHO will then use the RAIN to boost the power of her ICY WIND: wintry winds blow in a seemingly feeble attempt to dampen the barren lands.

SELENA NAMES THE HONEDGE 'JOYEUSE', a name befitting a loyal sword. Their stroll along the Safari zone has been considerably easy, as the Honedge allows itself to take initiative in slashing through vines and creepers taht crawl around the groves.

Just when they thought the Farfetch'd has already spared them, another loud swishing is heard from a distance: the presence of a Tinkaton poses danger that Joyeuse cannot just ignore. Their metals clank against each other, but eventually the Honedge triumphs over the creature.

"That's enough," she informs her Honedge as she tends to the Tinkaton's care.

"AH, A SCIENTIST THEN." She breaks her solid facade with a smile, a pleasantry she lets soyeon kwan indulge. "I asked because I was a journalist. Moi c'est Selena."

Selena takes the moment to glance at soyeon kwan's notebook while she explains her purpose. Despite the harsh environment of this seemingly virgin tundra, the Kalosian is intrigued by the lady's commitment.

"I wasn't here when the Kyurem attacked. I was in Kalos, ma ville natale. Were you here then?"

The revving sounds mark the presence of an alien Pokemon, something which the Kalosian has only found in Paldea. When soyeon kwan offers her the Pokemon, Selena takes with pleasure. The Delphox nods at her trainer, agreeing to take care of the creature as the two trainers continue their chat.

SELENA MAKES ONE FINAL CLEARING OF THE GRANITE CAVE OUTPOST from the Battle of Dewford when she receives news about the swarm of Mawile returning into their home. Deep inside the cavern, she finally sees the Mawiles walking in queue like the ROYALTY that they are, their living heads AS BLACK AS EBONY.

But there are a few ones glimmering in magenta, which eventually catches the Kalosian's attention.

BEFORE SHE GETS OUT OF THE CLEARING, Selena had a clearer view of the what the Farfetch'd's is sparring with: it turns out the sound actually comes from the Honedge's blade hitting the steelhard leek of the duck Pokemon. Aggressively, it hits the sword Pokemon's body and makes it fall to the ground. Selena rushes by its side and offers a helping of her spare potion, allowing the Pokemon to recover.

And because of that, it decides to follow the Kalosian throughout her walk in the Safari.

SELENA HAS ONLY ENOUGH TIME TO SEE HOW THE STATUE IS DRENCHED IN THAT PURPLE SAP, the liquid eating away at the cracks of the wooden effigy. Curiously, she attempts to run her fingers along the creases that runs purple before she is lifted from the ground and is taken possession by what called itself CALYREX.

Its otherwordly powers lifted her with the group in midair and speaks to the people through their mouths. She can still remember everything—High King of Ruined Kingdom, the Hero of Many Battles, the cities that are left—nothing at all makes sense! Upon release, she is caught by the power of SHEBA INOUE 's Delphox and regards her with a small nod. The anxious Lucifer scrambles to his trainer and assists her standing up—in which Selena requests for him to CALM (HIS) MIND for they need not to be at their wits' end.

Selena waits and eagerly listens as people around her throw in their questions. If you would ask a Pokemon that calls itself High King any question, what would it be? Nothing from what it said makes any sense to her. But then, it mentions about bringing them to places where they can make stories of heroism. So instead, she just focuses on the thing that she knows about: Ballonlea, Hammerlocke, Cischester, Motostoke.

She purses her lips, bites her thumb; Selena is creating a visual image of the cities that Calyrex mentioned in the island of Galar. Is there a pattern?

"Can you tell us what makes these cities different from the rest that are now in ruins? If I will be of help to you, then take me where you see me fit."
