Selena tries to be cautious and silent as she psses through, not letting the Pokemon feel her presence from behind the arrays of vegetation.

WALKING BY THE WOODS, THE LOUD NOISES FROM THE NINCADAS resonate against the rustling leaves. Selena cannot help but mesmerize at the orchestra-like humming and buzzing of the bug-type. A wild one makes its way by the nearby branch that Selena passes, but the lady only smiles at the Pokemon before passing by.

SELENA NODS, ALBEIT HESITANTLY. Perhaps, the blissful ignorance of being new is something that keeps the Kalosian's hopes up. She once believed nothing that the Rocket ever does is good: everything that it has done so far are so abhorrent and are borderline irredeemable. But at least what's penance for Rocket is not concealed within the righteousness of the League.

The lady purses her lips, and then pulls them together and brings a smile; there is not much left to do anyway.

"Rocket will be 'heroes'—maybe not in your eyes, but defintely in Hoenn's."

This is her commitment to declan walsh, to Rocket, and to herself.

SOCIAL: PUSH AND PULL

Kouji Matsubara ALWAYS PROVE HIMSELF TO BE A RELIABLE TEAMMATE WHENEVER IT COUNTS, but this is not one of those moments unfortunately. As soon as the blow hits the Malamar, its tight grip on Selena Desmarais's hand loosens, causing her to actually fall from the second floor.

The Flutter Mane hears the pitter-patter that follows and PHANTOM FORCES its way into Selena's drop point. The Kalosian plumments down on the ghostly body of her Pokemon, breaking down the momentum of an otherwise harsh fall. "Appreciated it, Kouji."

She tries to let out a chuckle, informing the other that she and her Pokemon are all right.

"Eliminate the wild Malamar, please." AFter all, they don't need any hostile Pokemon in this place if this is to be their next bunker.

WHAT'S IT REALLY THAT SELENA WANTED, ANYWAY?

When she was young, she wanted to prove herself that she's more than just the Desmarais name. Being a journalist was her goal for it allowed her to make a name for herself other than being the youngest daughter of one of the most illustrious business tycoon in Kalos. But the goal proved to be a never-ending attempt to prove something to the world when she didn't have to.

When she arrived in Hoenn, she wanted to prove she can be more than the name she has already built for herself. Chasing Rocket was her goal for it allowed her to prove that she can actually do good. But the moment she became an Avatar thinking she could change her world, she became disappointed with the expectations the society has set for her to conform.

When she went hiatus for about to years, she never wanted anything for herself anymore.

But here, in-front of her face, BARNABY FINCH is offering her a chance to change the world as she sees fit. No one ever offered her that chance: not her father who wanted her to rule the world he created for himself nor the League that just maintains its status quo. It is declan walsh's Team Rocket that wanted her to reach her full potential as the Selena Desmarais that she wanted for herself. And, as BARNABY FINCH said, it is a gamble they are willing to make.

Her words flow fluidly from her mouth after she takes a glassful of the Desmarais.

"I want to be 'free'."

She no longer believed on anything she's done over the past few years. The world is no longer redeemable; everything needs to be destroyed so they can start anew.

"I don't want to be held back anymore."

Selena Desmarais will now mean chaos and destruction. She will be a raging Springtide Storm in the tranquil Hoennian nights.

"Liberate me."

MISSION: RECRUITMENT ACT, I
BARNABY FINCH

THANK ARCEUS FOR MEMORIZING THE PANEL WITH THE PEOPLE'S NAMES; Selena doesn't have to ask people who she has been grouped with. But when she realizes who her teammates are, she takes time to ponder how the decision is even made. Honestly, she prefers people who she has already worked with, like Kouji Matsubara and River Marx, as she has pegged them compatible with her workstyle.

But maybe, perhaps, these people are too as well.

Hitoshi Inoue already claims the spot in-front the monitor to input a poorly thought name as she hears no contention from the previously outspoken Ashley Shepard .

"Got no fight in you left?" She teases but in a tone more persuading. "Don't be discouraged; there is no correct answer."

She walks past Ashley Shepard and then taps Hitoshi Inoue for him to sidestep, the Kalosian taking his place by the screen. "S.P.E.C.T.R.A. is a team. A question about the top priority is pointless when you designate work in a team, unless..." Selena makes a dramatic pause. "The question is more of a test of character."

She clears the word 'SWORD', pauses for a second, and then types in her own suggestion. "All it means is we've probably covered every blind spot in our time. You worry about the threats we already know and Hitoshi Inoue and I worry about those unknown."

She looks at the screen for one moment, and then to her teammates. "How does that sound, 'TEAM GODSLAYER'?

"Like a mega-evolution from the past, non?" Selena herself has a handful of mega-evolution capable partners but Calliope Alvara's suggestion is not to be dismissed. There is a lot of notable differences between Misdreavus and Flutter Mane but the silhouette remains faithful with each other.

From time to time, the Pokemon flaps its wing-like appendages, keeping her body hovering in the air.

"It's like a trophy from the skirmishes in the Ultra Deep Sea." Apparently, a lot of creatures from that time made their way to the PCs of Hoenn's best and brightest. "I went out of the cave and this creature began following me."

THE COLD NEVER BOTHERS HER. The large flame from Circe's staff warms the chill atmosphere around the glaciate-covered prarie, allowing the Kalosian to test her luck collecting samples in this new biome. Hoenn is typically tropical so it is a welcome surprise to see another environment in the region, save for the gallery of frozen dead Pokemons petrified deep in the ice.

Selena sees the silhouette of another person from the frosted panel, the light from the Charizard's tail giving away their location. And so she presents herself.

"A notebook." She eyes the journal on soyeon kwan's hand. "Are you also a journalist?"

DUO WILD: THE SILENT ICELANDS (ICE/STEEL)

UNFORTUNATELY, THE KALOSIAN AND HER MOUNT MISSES THEIR TARGET; Selena can now only watch as the entrance to the Ancient Tomb becomes blocked by the STONE EDGE. Fortunately, Lucifer's attack also hits the Ting-lu, if not for Alexei Ivanov 's ROCK SLIDE joining in the riot.

But in a split second, everything turns black and the only thing she remembers is being dragged into the fragmented rusted sword. The next thing she knows, she’s already in a colossal stadium. This is definitely Galar, she thinks. The larger-than-life arena is unmistakeably Galarian.

But everything is bleak.

She surveys her surroundings and realizes almost half of the people are gone. Only a few remain: most of which are familiar faces she already recognizes. At the center of the open field, a wooden statue of a Pokemon mounted on a horse in the middle of the open field.

Selena instructs Lucifer to TRAILBLAZE again towards the statue as she carries herself running towards the group that just casted the AURORA VEIL.

"Right. Let’s not afford any more destruction on our side.” Selena blends in with Callan Young ’s group, placing herself under the protection. After all, she’s still a civilian’ in the eyes of the League and everyone else—better use this opportunity in the meantime to survive.

From there, Selena takes the role of a spectator than a participant. There is much talk and smug and Selena cannot help but observe how grunt ranking Rockets behave themselves. For an organization that is binded with a common desire, she wonders why having to prove one's self needs to be a thing.

But the answer lies in the fact that Team Rocket is not like any other organization.

The screens started to flicker and change what was initially displayed into a gallery of identified legendary Pokemons. There are others that the Kalosian is already familiar with: ones like Moltres, Articuno, and Groudon that she has stood with on the League side of several battlefronts. Others are creatures that she has already seen but has no information of, and more that have been unknown to her entirely.

When the sheeps are ushered into their own computer screens, Selena follows as well into her own station. They are presented with a question that did not take her a minute to ponder. She clicks on 'C. THE THREATS UNKNOWN' because that's what they must truly prioritize.

Those they already know would have been easier to dispatch. The League has always used their avatars in dire situations and it allows everyone, especially the Rocket, to identity their strengths and weaknesses. Rockets have their own roster of avatars as well and it allows the organization to access information that the League will not be privy of—unless, of course, more and more members decide to defect from the organization.

But the threats unknown are what bothers Selena. Maybe it is her journalistic instincts taking over, or any possible remnants of when she was The Intuitive, but the lack of information will always be a threat for everyone and not just their organization. Hoenn is a region full of surprises, but surprises often cost lives.

And that is a price no one should be willing to pay.

Circe takes a leap before the sprigatito can even reach Selena's legs, the vixen holding out her staff as she warns with another HEAT WAVE coming from her weapon. Her face is painted with surprise as the kid and her entourage appears out of the trash pile: not what she was going for.

"I didn't realize there were others here." She calmly interjects as she nudges her delphox to stand down. "Normally, there are only steel and electric-types around the area and your grass kitty is the least I expect to see in here."

But her eyes did not fail her when she notices the shieldon lurking from one corner, trying to stealth its way out as the two humans continue to interact. Looking at her busy trainer, Circe spots the baby pokemon and begins to dispatch and catch it.
