Their success brought a grin to Oscar's face--that was until it summoned a giant Xurkitree. As the Ultra Beast materialized, Oscar's face slowly cracked into a distressed frown. It was an intimidating monster to be sure--but ummm maybe it was friendly?

It was not friendly.

The Xurkitree almost immediately began to attack, prompting Oscar to dive out of the way as it shot lightning and whipped its limbs about. If only Oscar had brought his own Xurkitree, maybe it would have been able to make friends with it and get it to fuck off! Oh well, for now he had Robbie and that was enough.

He took kyle lopez's advice to heart, and threw a hand out to Rob. "You heard the champion guy! Operation Rotten, blind that bulbous fuck!" Robbie, who was making evasive maneuvers of his own, nodded with acknowledgement as he took to the sky. He bobbed and weaved, hoping to avoid getting hit as he looked for an opening to attack.

Once he finds one, he will fire a blast of toxic goo toward the Xurkitree's head, his aim being to cover as much of the bulb as possible to blind it (Gunk Shot). Did Xurkitrees see through their globes? Ultra Beast anatomy was so infuriating.

Martin came to Oscar's rescue, compelling his Persian to lend the trapped man a helping paw. The persian went right to work, lovingly clawing at the man to encourage his emergence. Standing close to Mars, Oscar tsked while leaning leisurely onto his cane. "You'll have to forgive the claws, Persians have no tumbs." 

With just a little bit more effort, the persian would eventually 'hook' onto the man's bloodied leg and pull it out of hiding. Oscar smirked, "I can take it from here!" He dropped his cane, hopping forward with the speed of a hunter finally finding its prey. He grasped the bloodied leg, pulling with all his might. The man screamed, sliding out against his will. He could not latch onto the tree, despite his best efforts, and Oscar would end up dragging him into the open.

The man turned onto his back as Oscar walked over and grabbed his cane. He shouted many expletives that Oscar paid no mind, the beast casually holding his cane aloft before smacking it into the man's mouth. There was a nasty crunch as the man reached up to hold his mouth. It would seem that Oscar dislodged a tooth or two, judging from the agonized look in the man's eyes. At least it shut him up.

Oscar winced, "Sorry, my hand slipped. I was trying to help you up, I swear. Let me try again." Oscar pressed the tip of his cane into the man's chest, pressing down to ensure that he could not go and get himself into trouble again. The man kept his hands to his mouth, trying to keep blood from getting everywhere. Oscar looked to Mars, "You know Mars, I think our friend here could use a picnic. Maybe we should invite him to ours!"

At last the trio set off, and not a moment too soon. The mist did not wait for their quest to begin, becoming thicker with every passing minute. Meanwhile the thing in the bush sat still, patiently waiting for its timer to finish its painstaking count down. Time passed, and soon enough the sun would set so low that the sky would begin to turn dark. The mist began to reflect the light of the moon, giving it a ghostly glow. 

Five minutes remained, by now the trio should be close to that first document. It will be a peculiar find to be sure, if they should find it. The Eastern document they were seeking could be found stapled to a tree, seemingly blank. If/when they turn it over however, they will find the only clue to this exorcises true nature: Red jagged letters spelling out a single word. RUN

The timer had finished, and the being in the bushes stood up. Its mission could finally begin, a prime directive dictated by its master: Hunt and subdue Isaac Merlo, BARNABY FINCH, and mint frost.



Genesect's red eyes pierced through the mist, conducting a rudimentary scan of its surroundings. Tracking the trio would be trivial, their footprints were clear as day within the softened mud of Mt. Pyre. With a clear view of their walking path, Genesect would transform into a shape more suitable for flight (Magnet Rise). It charged the static that flowed around it, unleashing it with a mighty roar as it sped along the path of its prey. This roar would be their final warning for what was to come.

The Crabominable's butt-strike had a solid impact, but it was met by a electrifying thunder punch. If Crabominable had any gonads, they would be screaming right now! The strike bounced him back like a beach ball, and the fuzzy crab brawler would end up landing with a thud a few feet away from the cat. It wobbled back into a standing position, its fists teetering from side to side as they were once again raised. He had sustained heavy damage up until this point, but he had yet to hear a bell. To be honest, Oscar was a little proud. This crab had fuckin' spunk. 

 The crabominable would not cease its rapid-fire assault. There was no space to allow the foe to breathe, not if he wanted to clutch a narrow victory! It rapidly ran forward in a wobbling motion before attempting a left hook with its claw (Dizzy Punch). It was down to the wire, now or never! Did it have the power to pull an upset?

Crabominal's assault was undermined by Incineroar's superior stamina. It made sense, Ice Punch was not super effective any way--but it was still an impressive absorption of the blow. Once again, Oscar was glad this was not an actual league challenge. He would have been a lot more stressed out about this whole fight.

Even so, the battle was not over yet. Crabominal was knocked over by the spinning move, but it had no intention of giving up. He tilted himself onto his head, and lifted his body up with his powerful claws. He then marched toward Incineroar, attempting to strike at the warrior with its legs. The minor flailing of his legs would be hardly a threat, but the frosty butt-pound he would launch himself into would leave quite a mark should it land (Ice Hammer).

Admittedly the Crabominable did not expect the Incineroar to use an attack like Toxic. As it backed away to use Reversal, it was met with the non-physical spray of poisonous fluid instead. It reeked something fierce, didn't this cat ever learn to brush its teeth? With no physical attack to reverse, Crabominable continued backing away to mitigate the spray's effects. It was not completely avoided though, and Crabominable felt parts of its belly burning from the fluid. A tickle compared to what would have happened if the fully spray landed.

If their opponents thought a little light burning would stop the Crabominable's assault though, they would be sadly mistaken. Crabominable very suddenly stopped backing away, flexing its legs forward to propel itself back toward his opponent. His right fist had been brought backward when it prepared to reverse Incineroar's move, but as Crabominable once again launched an attack on his opponent he would swing that very same fist with a burst of icy energy (Ice Punch). 

This would not be a riskless attack, and so Crabominable put all of its fury behind it. This battle needed to end as quickly as possible.

As Necrozma buckled against the relentless assault of the defenders of Hoenn, Oscar could not help but feel uneasy. They had a great deal of help to accomplish this, and yet it felt too easy. Surely there would be some last minute bullshit that would reverse all they had accomplished, that was what usually happened during these situations. Well call Oscar psychic because that was exactly what occurred! The Necrozma called for help, and who should appear but another fucking Necrozma.

Oscar went slack jawed as the second Necrozma emerged from the ether. They could barely handle one, now there were two of them!? That was not their only problem though, all shadow pokemon began to turn on their owners! Most notably, bryan delarosa 's Comfey began to strangle Xernias. Oscar cursed loudly, he could not fucking believe that they had to face a shadow pokemon rebellion and Genesect was not even awake to take part in the slaughter. It was going to be pissed when it wakes up.

Oscar looked to Mercy, who was still reeling from using Light of Ruin. Her body was not used to such a heavy recoil, it was clear that she could do very little in her condition. That was, until Bryan shared some of his GOD JUICE! The magic fetus near them was healed by Bryan, and that same aura of life touched everyone within the proximity. Mercy felt her energy return to her, and once again she was ready to join the battle. Oscar was taken aback, eventually chuckling with surprised relief. "There's just no stopping you, holy shit."

Mercy jumped to Xernias's aid, providing a Helping Hand to the pokemon Bryan had sent to free the god.

As Oscar made his way to Terminal 3, he found himself in a rather lonely position. Would he be the only participant brave enough to take on the Ultra Beast challenge--whatever it may be? Probably another fucking riddle, shit he sucked at those. Luckily for Oscar he would not be alone for long, as the forever reliable Remiel Calcifet soon began running beside him.

Oscar smiled as Remiel addressed him, thankful that he was not about to face the Terminal alone. He answered him in an elated tone, "Oh you know me, love to go against the grain. Ain't that right Rob?" Robbie flew alongside his master, giving a polite greeting to Remiel. Robbie had no idea who Remiel was, but any friend of Oscar's was a tolerated presence for him.

And then Lulu Flint appeared.



Oscar nearly tripped as Lulu spoke up right behind him. How did she sneak up to him like that? She got so close without Oscar even being able to notice, nearly gave him a heart attack. Despite his surprise, Oscar was glad that she chose to come along. She too was always a reliable comrade. Oscar grasped his beating chest as he continued running, "Shit Lulu, I gotta put a bell on you or something. At least I'm awake now." Lulu was right about this situation being rather exciting, the mystery of it all was enthralling to say the least. Who knew what awaited them at their destined terminal...

Surprise, it was another riddle. Oscar grumbled as he read the Terminal, cursing under his breath as he realized what their challenge was. He addressed Lulu, "Of course we get this sequence nonsense. What do you make of it?" Regardless of her answer, Oscar would be drawn to kyle lopez, who suggested that it could have something to do with their codenames. Oscar listened intently, pretending to have no idea what the codenames were. He thought Kyle was on to something, but he did not want to commit to an answer just yet.

Oscar turned to Robbie, "You're an ultra beast Robbie, what's your take on this?" Once again, Robbie barely had a grasp on what was going on. He pretended to read the prompt, paying more attention to the pictures in the sequence. Eventually the others began to choose answers, and Robbie decided to press Xurkitree with his stinger.

Oscar did not realize what Robbie had done until it was too late. He groaned, smacking his forehead with his palm as he lamented Robbie's choice. "You weren't supposed to choose anything yet you bum! Great, if we die I'm blaming you." Robbie shrugged bashfully, and Oscar could not help but smirk. "Aw, you scamp! I can't stay made at you!"

The mist only grew thicker as the sun tumbled past the horizon. Oscar watched the three participants cautiously, his expression reading as cold as the air around them. He gathered whatever pokeballs the brought and left behind, carefully placing them into his backpack. At Bee's question, Oscar was silent. He simply draped his pack back over his back and stared.

When the trio was fully absorbed in conversation, Oscar would back away. The mist would envelop him, bringing him cover as he fled the scene. Now it was time to wait--and watch.

Something waited within the brush nearby, lying dormant. A timer on its hud was ticking down steadily.

They had a twenty five minute head start.

Oscar was not the coaching type. He had always preferred learning to teaching, as he was always afraid of screwing up and looking foolish. Yet he could no longer hide from such a role; the time had come for him to train his fellow Rockets so that they may survive future struggles against the League. As a member of the S.P.E.C.T.R.A. initiative, he has been tasked with preparing others to do battle with Legendary pokemon--a labor that he felt rather ill-prepared for as well. There was no time to lack confidence however, only time to train! He thought for a long time about what he could do as a training exercise, and what he came up with--well for lack of a better word it was sinister.

After careful consideration and a few afternoons pouring over performance records, he chose his first test subjects for this new exercise. Isaac Merlo, BARNABY FINCH, and mint frost were called to Mt. Pyre to engage in a "intensive outdoor survival simulation". They would be told to bring a small bag of supplies but nothing else, pokemon were especially forbidden. As far as they knew, this would be some sort of teamwork building experience. Just comrades surviving a night on a spooky mountain. Little did they know what Oscar had in store.

They all would have met at the base of the mountain, and after some idle pleasantries the four would venture forth into the mountain proper. Oscar would lead them deep into the mountain's misty terrain, moving them far away from the sacred grave sites. The last thing they needed was a bunch of ghosts interfering with their training. When he felt as if they had hiked enough, Oscar would address his charges.

"Thanks for joining me out here. I've been instructed to oversee some wilderness survival training, and you three have been chosen to partake. This is my first time as an instructor so um--I hope you learn a lot and have fun! Any way..."

He pulled out three tourist maps of Mt. Pyre and handed one to each of his participants. There was a red dot on the opposite side of the grave sites, with four other dots scattered across the cardinal directions on the same side of the mountain. There was a key on the side to measure distance as well as a compass rose, but that would be the only aid they would have. Oscar clapped his hands and continued.

"Right ummm, each one of those dots represents a document I have planted. There are four of them: one north, one south, one east and west. Find all four before morning. Easy right?"

The mist grew thick as the sun began to set. Oscar checked his watch, whistling as he adjusted his own backpack. "It's getting late, you better start your search before it gets dark. I'll be watching, so don't cheat or anything. I wouldn't know how you would but--yeah. You'll probably find all four before morning, so if you do just--survive until the sun comes up."

Oscar then crossed his arms, staring expectedly at the trio. "Well go on! Sun's setting! Get going!"

They would receive a thirty minute head start...
