THE LEADER

Reinstated as the gym leader of Petalburg, the Mettle Badge from years prior will not return into circulation. Having had some time and distance away from the spotlight while experiencing firsthand the many perils the region faces, Derek has come to a different conclusion—teaching trainers to survive hazardous environments.

The new award for successfully completing either of the challenges at Petalburg Gym will now reward trainers with a new Finite Badge. This symbolizes a trainer's ability to think outside the traditional boundaries of pokemon battles. That sometimes the true danger is not the pokemon themselves, but a situation those pokemon, nature or civilization have put them in.

THE GYM

A conventional gym arena resides within the city limits of Petalburg, allowing trainers to partake in a typical battle between pokemon.

Outside the main arena resides Petalburg Woods, which are also under Derek's dominion as gym leader. A cordoned off portion of this forest serves as the battleground during special hunter-gatherer matches.

THE CHALLENGE

TRADITIONAL FORMAT[break][break]
Two (2) pokemon each in a 1v1 OR 2v2 format. Both of your opponent's pokemon must be knocked out to determine a victor. Challengers can choose between battling in Petalburg's GYM or WOODS.

RULES & REGULATIONS

‣ There are NO banned moves or abilities. This is subject to change pending the result of challenges.[break][break]

‣ If a Challenger does not reply within FOURTEEN DAYS they are subject to thread archival. Challengers can opt for a one time SEVEN DAY extension.[break][break]

‣ Alternatively, if the Gym Leader does not reply within FOURTEEN DAYS, the challenger may be authorized to receive the badge.[break][break]

‣ No known members of Rocket are authorized to challenge this gym. A list of names will be made as they come to be known.[break][break]

‣ Challengers are NOT allowed to permanently harm, maim, or kill. Furthermore, no-one is to cause permanent destruction or damage, or act with blatant disregard for the area around them.[break][break]

‣ No legendries, ultra beasts, etc. are allowed to be fielded without prior approval. This includes AVATAR ABILITIES. Communicating with your legendary through telepathy, or some other form that does NOT require having it on the field is AUTHORIZED.
