Wimpod had never thought he would see the day when Priscilla would ask him a favor. Though perhaps it was her run-ins with Isaac Merlo that had pushed her forward. He didn’t know, but they had taken a trip to Littleroot Town, to do a job for a measle pay, but a pay nonetheless.

She had apologized to him many times when she had shown him the job. But it didn’t matter, this would be an ordeal he would gladly accept for her. And so, here he now found himself within an enclosure that was far too tiny compared to what he would prefer to roam within. But the size was but a part of its purpose.

The Wimpod stared at the Gate. It was about time. He saw a glimpse of the many trampling feet at the edge of the gate. He DEFENSIVE CURL’ed himself for a brief moment, strengthening his carapace before the gate was flung open with no regard for the safety of the Pokémon which might be on the other side.

A Bunch of kids stormed in. He Valiantly stared the horde down. Every inch of his body screamed for him to run. But he did not wimp out. He took it all in a stride as the horde fell upon him, petting him with much enthusiasm. Some maybe a bit too enthusiastic. But he managed to survive the ordeal all the same.

a raticate isn't a normal choice for a petting zoo. dally knows that because bobby told her. bobby told her that the kids might not appreciate her all that much but she deserves to do this work just as much as any other pokemon and at the end of the day she could come home and get all the attention the kids might refuse her.

that was very reassuring to hear, but dally has never been one to half-ass a job. she's going to charm the pants off these kids and go home proud to bobby. after all, she knows her master will shower her in love either way.

so she marches out to the crowd of cooing children proud as an arcanine. her chubby body waddles slightly as she takes a position in an unoccupied space and she puffs herself up for the world to see. she huffs air into her cheeks so they're extra pinchable and tucks her teeth away as much as possible to avoid scaring the little ones.

after ten minutes it's a bit tiring to keep it up for no one; and despite her own bluster and bobby's reassurances it makes dally feel a bit crestfallen. if only she was still a rattata. she remembers how bobby had lit up at the sight of her littler buckteeth and her mustache. dally's sure she would blow this kindergarten class away with them were she still so little.

and then there's a hand on her head.

"hi uh . . ." a little girl has marched up, looking like she came here fit to go to war. her face is a mask of defiant confidence as she pets dally's head, even as she looks anxiously around for a sign declaring her name.

"hi uh, dally. you looked lonely!" she practically shouts, an escalation in volume accompanied by more fervent patting of dally's head. dally responds with a bright smile and a renewed, puffed up confidence -- as if to say: 'don't worry about me, kid! i'm aces!'

and the kid? she laughs. not a giggle or a chuckle but a full peal of laughter capped off with a snort.

"you're so big!" she marvels, shifting from petting dally's head to gently pressing at her cheeks.

dally just presses herself into the touch, chittering away as her TAIL WAGS.

she's still got it.

The soft, round ears of the shiny Alolan Raichu perk up at the sight of children entering the petting zoo. Hopping up on her tail, she rises off the ground thanks to her own psychic abilities, pushing herself forward and quite literally surfing through the air. She greets them with a wave and an excited ”Chu!”, surfing circles around them before one of the children manages to grab onto her.

Auster gently WHIPS her tail from side to side, but she still manages to sound excited despite the kid’s rough handling. She knows she has to. For, on her collar, the symbol of POG Bank proudly shines, and that means she represents them with everything she does. Mars has said as much!

So, she allows the children to grab her and hold her and squeeze her, and it’s only when they start pulling at her ears that she floats away – instead keeping them entertained with her aerial pirouettes.

Callan's borrowed Wynaut from MATIAS SILPH flops floppily as it bounces around the petting zoo. Having been loaned out for hte sole purpose of fulfilling a mission, the Wynaut doesn't particularly listen to its newfound trainer.

Thankfully it didn't need to. As the children stampeded across the hallways to look at the odd baby inflatable balloon, it SPLASHED on the spot, moving its juvenile nubs for legs as it struggled to keep its inflatable decoy blue body upright to greet the kids.

the wynauts are twins, actually, so it only makes sense that matias' own wynaut shows up alongside Callan Young's.

wynaut is also still a child so it also makes sense that it's able to withstand the annoyance that comes from children screaming and wanting to pet it. in fact, it seems to lap up the attention as it SPLASHES around in joy.

matias can do no more than shake his head from afar.

A bunny at a petting zoo was nothing out of the ordinary. After all, bunnies are cute and fluffy. At least, thats what the pink haired coordinator thought at the very least. Asking her buneary to play with children didn’t seem like a bad idea. And at first, the buneary thought it would be fun. That was, until she released that ‘petting’ meant she was going to be touched.

“Oh look mommy! That buneary is pink!”

The normal type sighed, grubby stick hands reached out to touch her ear fluffy. The kid pet hard, too hard. She groaned, forcing herself to move away from the not so gentle child in hopes it would give up in touching her. But, it didn’t work.

“Come here little pinky.”

Beady eyes widened, hopping away franticly in an attempt to get away. And it would have worked, if another young human didn’t block her path. She stopped, head titled to one side as the kid reached out to touch her. She moved way, only to get grabbed by another. The shiny buneary struggled against its death grip, managing to wiggle out. The kid started to cry, making her feel bad. Seeing a small puddle, the normal type SPLASHed into it. This made the kid happy cry, clapping their hands together in joy. At least, they weren’t touching her anymore.

'what a strange mission,' riurik thought, looking around. his tail whipped behind him — slowly, he reminded himself — as children clambered up to him. it was not unlike the training session that jayden had prepared him for weeks ago, though that had been a teaching lesson with other young rocket recruits. these civilian children were much less kind.

happiny has no idea what a lawsuit is, but from the sour twist of his mouth when he said it, it sounded bitter and possibly inedible. unlike her owner, happiny is a connoisseur of good cuisine, so even as the children's hands start to get rough, inquisitive and incautious hands pinching at fur and tugging at the curl of happiny's ponytail, nagi (the rock) stays tucked in the elastic recesses happiny's pouch — though she keeps a single, stubby hand on it, just in case.

nagi (the person) stands at the edge of the playpen, just beyond the fence. he touches the strap of his rucksack, and with deliberate, careful intent, tips his bag forward so that happiny can catch just the barest glimpse of its contents.

the sunlight reflecting off the vibrant blue of a ripe oran berry is the light at the end of the tunnel. she DEFENSE CURLS over nagi (rock), and lets the children noogie her to their heartless content. dreaming of berries all the way.
