High on the feeling of victory at last, Skyler struts into the beach with a confident swagger at odds with most of her attempts in this game. Logic and common sense had always been in short supply with the captain and so the odds don't seem to bother her, not when she's finally, finally, made one of the jumps.

Who cares if it wasn't one of the more difficult ones.

Chest puffed out, Skyler slips atop her Mantine as they make for the waves. A new day, another possible victory. Skyler would not let herself believe otherwise.

That freaking hurt. Swimming back to the Mantine, the Pokemon again met him about halfway. It let him get back on. He was going to try again. Moving fast up to get some air, he then did a back flip, a right roll, and then a front flip to launch himself up in the air. Hopefully he can stick the landing this time. And not have a repeat of what happened just a few minutes earlier, since his neck was getting stiff from the "landing." While he didn't land on his back this time, he did do a leg first dive into the water.

Forget the Magikarp Splash that nearly everyone else seemed to be attempting at the moment. Aurelie was having enough trouble right now trying one of the simpler tricks from the Mantine surfing repertoire: the Primarina Twist. She'd even seen some people successfully pull off the Magikarp Splash too! How much harder could it really be to perform something like a front flip two times before back-flipping on to the Mantine's wide wingspan?

Apparently, very hard for her.

But she really wanted to get the simpler tricks mastered before she tried the ones that were high-risk and rewarded higher points. In a burst of remorse, she apologetically patted the Mantine upon which she was riding, knowing it absolutely wasn't the Mantine's fault. If only she could get her own body under control enough! If this doesn't work," she muttered under her breath, "I'm just going to try for the Gorebyss or Huntail Spin next. A bird in the hand, and so on and so forth, right? Bah!"

Patting the Mantine again, she rose back to her feet and surfed toward the lower waves for another try.

he doesn't actually go outside much, contrary to his build. he felt like he was going to be humiliated by the first try, but given that he was pushed into this and agreed, he can't fault anyone but himself for trying.

he gets on the mantine. it feels different from any other flying-type he had ridden on, and to think he has to balance himself on top of it without any traction already has him thinking he won't be able to do it.

still, there was no choice but to try the hardest trick, and that he does.

the last one doesn't count since he was just warming up. you can't call exercises actual attempts since they're really just that.

this time, he's serious. he never fails on anything, and every "fail" he got was just him messing around or simply testing the waters. he still hasn't synergizes with his mantine, and only then will it actually count.

he goes into the water on the mantine, ready for a go.
