The roar of a MOTORCYCLE suddenly echoes out from the horizon. Six-inch wide cruiser tires roll across the mossy stone-paved paths of MT. PYRE as the engine growls. Zooming past gravestones and dilapidated shrines, the riders eventually come into view for MATIAS SILPH and PENELOPE LIVY once they take a smooth turn. Cade Atreides sits in the driver's seat with a helmet obscuring his face. jayden cross sits behind him.

It isn't long before the motorcycle comes to a stop before the RIFT site, however. Reaching into his bike's pack, the masked rider pulls out an entire tray of CHICLETS and waves it about in the air. "We're selling Chiclets here. Great-tasting gum in a variety of flavors." He remarks, scowling at his own performance behind the cover of his helmet.

"All proceeds go to the Verdanturf Little League team. Come buy some."

Despite his poor salesmanship skills, however, and the ADMIN that looms behind him, the Paldean hopes this will buy enough time for the second team to sneak in. He turns over his shoulder slightly to regard Jayden, wondering if the man had anything else to add to this little distraction.

It made it difficult to collect the data that their scientists, Lulu Flint and Raphael Pryde would possibly need for the rift sites themselves, in addition to the psychic types that were breaking into the open space.

[break][break] As far as Jayden was concerned, there was only one alternative if they were going to get the information before the league. Ambush.

[break][break] As head of offense, it only made sense that he would be part of the exchange. He was happy to have the help of Elisabeth Fiorelli and her poisons, and the opportunity to work more closely alongside her, since he hadn't been able to since the affairs of Littleroot. It would also give him time to assess mint frost's progress, especially since becoming Beast, as well as that of Cade Atreides.

[break][break] The sound of motorcycles roar against gravel as the Rocket Admin channels into the comms. "VIPER, NEON," he reports. "We're closing in on the site. Be on high alert."

"Tracking, preparing to engage." Mint says back into the comms, eyes locked on the group of four now nestled near the rift. He can see the bodies, his glasses locked on to the movement before he turned them off. He's not been on many missions, having missed out on most of CERBERUS' field missions in favor of focus on working his way through the LEague's gym leaders, the one's that hadn't stepped down yet anyway. At least some of his intel was still good. [break][break]

His Petilil sits, shaking like a literal leaf. She's as focused as he is. He gives a look at Elisabeth Fiorelli . "I'll start set up, VIPER." His partner stares up at the sky, clouded and gloomy as it is often want to do at Mt. Pyre. Unnatural power forces the clouds to part, and sun begin to shine down. It's weird, and then hot as it shines brightly. With SUNNY DAY up, he gives the Admin next to him a thumbs up. "Prepping a STUN SPORE, momentarily. Will move in according to plan."

Diversion was beginning to feel like her specialty in Rocket's offensive tactics: not by choice really, but due to circumstances. Ambushing MATIAS SILPH and PENELOPE LIVY was not exactly ideal, but at least there was safety in numbers.[break][break]

Being supported by Beast mint frost was a relief, and the SUNNY DAY he provided was more than appreciated by her Vileplume as she soaked in the sunlight. Her rafflesia petals unfurled, her innate CHLOROPHYLL bestowing her with a sudden vitality and SPEED she had lacked prior.[break][break]

Rather than attack, Elisabeth indicated for GRASSY TERRAIN to silently begin to wind its way around them, the Vileplume's idle twirl manifesting a series of life-giving vines to enhance their stance in battle.[break][break]

There was no reason to strike just yet, not with Cade Atreides and jayden cross engaging in their... chiclet salesman warfare, while on a motorcycle? Elisabeth squinted at a distance at this bizarre ploy, then silently discarded her reservations. Both men had a longer tenure in Rocket than she did. The masked rider looks up at the blazing hot sun above, his eyesight shielded by the visor of his helmet. Beneath its cover, the man smiles. This meant that the rest of the team was in a position to attack. Though faulty in its design, their diversion had more or less worked. At least until the BLAZIKEN belonging to PENELOPE LIVY flares up in a rather distrusting and aggressive way.

With a scoff at MATIAS SILPH order, Cade Atreides returns his hands to the handlebars of his motorcycle. "It's getting pretty hot around here anyway," He remarks with his thick PALDEAN accent, revving up his engine. "Wouldn't want our chiclets to melt." Turning to his partner, who has hopped off the backseat and onto the concrete, he nods.

"You coming or not, amigo?"

With a sudden roar of its engine, his motorcycle dives forward before he executes a sharp u-turn, sending a CLOUD OF DUST and TOXIC SPIKES in the general direction of MATIAS SILPH and PENELOPE LIVY as a result. Now parked beside jayden cross once more, but facing the direction they'd come in from, Cade Atreides looks over his shoulder to regard the scene with a laugh. "Coooño... sorry about that! I need to get this baby to the mechanic!" He yells, slapping his knee.

[break][break] just as he does so, cade takes to his motorcycle and emits an explosion of dust clouds. flicking the chiclet packet directly in PENELOPE LIVY's face, he leaps backwards and releases his own pokemon. distractions aside — now was the time for attack.

the MEGA STONE in his pocket is quickly fastened before his kangaskhan MEGA EVOLVES. with its offspring now joining it, the kangaskhan lets loose a powerful EARTHQUAKE that threatens to swallow their opposition whole.[break][break]

It was a soft voice, barely audible in the pits of her stomach, but it was there, calling out to her. Maybe if Penelope had listened to it, they wouldn't have been forced back into a corner, with poisonous spikes encircling them and an army of yellow spores sending static through their veins.

Through gritted teeth, the councilwoman's shallow breaths struggled to slip out. Every attempt of movement burnt more than the bright SUNNY DAY above, and given MATIAS SILPH ' sudden yelp, something (or someone) had found their mark on them.

A loud crack announced the forced movement of her fist smashing into her side. An arc of red spat forth a Hatterene onto the field.

"aromatherapy," Penelope hissed, "please."

The hatterene waved her hand and a blue mist circled MATIAS SILPH , PENELOPE LIVY , and their team, healing them of any status conditions.

The move worked like a charm, because in a second's time, Penelope's Blaziken moved into action, using DETECT to evade the crumplings of the EARTHQUAKE, or any remnants of the cyclist's TOXIC SPIKES. The more the fire type maneuvered around the difficult terrain, the more his SPEED BOOSTED.

The masked rider laughs as he watches the ambush unfold, casting the box of chiclets towards the ground without a care. "Hah! You payasos fell for that?" He remarks, revving up his bike as he shakes his head. "I expect better of an ELITE FOUR and a COUNCILWOMAN. Tsk, tsk, tsk."

When the action really kicks off and a KANGASKHAN undergoes MEGA EVOLUTION, however, Cade Atreides is quick to prepare. Keeping jayden cross in mind, he prompts his motorcycle to MAGNET RISE into the air as a defensive measure against the EARTHQUAKE that comes for them. Unfortunately, it still manages to strike them and sends the floating motorcycle veering forwards as Cade struggles to regain some semblance of balance with the handlebars.

Once he does, however, he spins the motorcycle back in the direction of their opponents. "SOVA, here," He calls out to his TEAMMATES over comms. "Am I clear to give them all I got?" He asks as his engine angrily growls.
