SECRET BASE GUARDIAN: RHUGONE'S TRUSTY VENUSAUR, DRESSED AS A LARGE OGRE.

DECORATIONS: Leather art, cavemen-like decorations, pokedolls of older pokemon (i.e: kabutops) etc to add to the aesthetic. Multiple squares are on the floor to make it seem like a large DND map where you have to advance accordingly or else the VENUSAUR will attack you aggressively if you don't take the 'game' seriously.

TRAPS: FAKE FLAG being guarded by the venusaur. The real flag/s is/are nestled in its foliage, giving it out to people who 'RP' properly and get in character for the base's mechanics.

Saber and Josh, now disguised as Raikou and the Hero of Johto, returned to the Ogre's Den after being hastily escorted out of the cave for coming as themselves and not loking heroic enough by the grass-type's standards. In the getup he wore to the big Masquerade, except wearing his racing helmet instead of a heavier knight's helmet, he returned to the lair and drew the plastic facsimile of the lightning-bolt-shaped yellow sword. While it couldn't cause any real damage, that tip was still sharp enough to cause mild discomfort.

"Become fleet of foot! Accelerate!" Josh cried, miming the somatic components of casting a spell that would allow him and his "Raikou" mount to move faster. He waited his turn for the others on the battlefield to make their moves, including the ogre-dressed Venusaur that flung projectiles at him, its vines wach mimicking the motion of a sling. While the haste spell let Josh and his electric ride evade one, another struck Saber, the Pokémon recoiling from being struck in the cheek. The critical hit caused him to briefly lower his stance.

"Charge!" Josh cried, spurring his mount into a straight-line sprint across the battlefield using every bit of movement he was entitled to. The dashing Manectric's electric charge alongside the electric blade racing toward the Venusaur came to a large number of metaphorical damage dice. Even the latest edition didn't properly curb the amazing damage potential of a supermount build.

The Venusaur yielded to the jousting hero, retrieving the true flag with one of its vines and "knighting" him with it. Josh, likewise, gently rest the flat of his blade against the Venusaur before walking away with the base's spoils.

After donning a costume of a cryomancer mage and her Mismagius was dressed as a necromancer, the two of them would be greeted with large squares, leather decorations, and a Venusaur guarding a flag. The grass type nodded a bit to 'RP' in the sense of a popular tabletop game known as DND. "Okay, let's cast Mind Sliver!" Elise called out though she was just getting into the role-playing aspect of what the Venusaur wanted as the leaves and vines were the obstacle to protect the flag. [break][break]

The two of them would avoid the attacks while the Mismagius' eyes glowed blue, the Confusion would stop the attacks from reaching her trainer. "Cast Sphere of Dark Energy, Mana!" Onto the left most of the squares, Elise would advance to using a path to get to a flag while Mana senta Shadow Ball towards the Venusaur's attacks. When the attacks stopped, the royal took the flag that the Venusaur was guarding though she was stopped by a vine and a shake of the grass type starter's head. Seeing the Venusaur take the real flag out of the foliage, she would take it and have Mana lead the way out of the base.

With Aether to serve as a makeshift guiding bolt amidst the foliage, the rest of the Joltiks are able to land their Sticky Webs to ensnare it. And as soon as it reaches her turn, she dashes for the flag and nicks it with a fun little sleight of hand.[break][break]

"You've tried your best, guardian. But strength doesn't quite matter if you can't lay a finger on us!"[break][break]

As the Venasaur prepares to fight back, a well-timed Protect provides her momentary sanctuary. And with everyone else disengaging from this little boss battle, she finds her chance to run too.

Still, he didn't need anyone to hold his hand. He'd absorbed enough knowledge about this geeky game through osmosis to stand on his own two feet. Today, he was not Isaac Merlo. He was Tarkus, half-orc Rogue and wanderer of the wilds! And he could both think and sneak circles around a common ogre![break][break]

Squares may have held a lesser man back, but not him. He Dashed further than most could run, while still being able to take the time to Hide in a nearby bush. He waited for the ogre to stomp past, hand set atop the hilt of a foam longsword. When its footsteps trailed away, he was back in action, repeating the process time and time again.[break][break]

Unfortunately, his talents were not yet reliable. Eventually, he succumbed to the whims of fate, tripping over his cloak and faceplanting just before he reached the next bush. Uh oh. The ogre heard that, freezing in its tracks before stomping on over in Isaac's general direction.[break][break]

This was a disaster waiting to happen. Or, perhaps, it would have been, had Isaac not noticed the flag tucked inside of the Venusaur's flower. Of course! The gatekeeper had the true treasure! It was a classic misdirection![break][break]

A vine, thick as heavy as a club, smashed right atop where Isaac lay. Perhaps that would have spelled his end, had he not dodged away with uncanny precision. Winded and weary moreso than anything, Isaac scrambled atop the Venusaur's back. All of his efforts allowed him to climb with expertise, helping him hold on even as the Venusaur bucked its hips and shook its stem.[break][break]

Closer . . . closer . . . there! In a picture-perfect sneak attack, Isaac plucked the flag right off of the Venusaur's back. He let out a triumphant cheer, a sign that the game had come to an end. He hopped off of his foe for the day, taking a grand bow. "Well played! Yet in the end, the dice were in my fav-"[break][break]

Ring! Ring! The Venusaur's eyes narrowed as Isaac's phone started to chime from the back of his pocket.[break][break]

As vines wrapped around his body, winding up for a full speed eviction, Isaac learned to always mute his phone at the table.

A scantily-clad Shalin, dressed like an Amazoness warrior, held a simple obsidian spear in her right hand, the reins of her Persian, Serena, in her left. The normal-type, pretending to be a vicious tiger, raised her sharp claw, ready to charge into battle. She couldn't yet, though! Lacking the movement speed to make it, she had to wait her turn, her mount weaving in and out of the way of arrow fire with great precision. One such sniper, hidden behind the Venusaur, was able to land a nasty critical hit directly on the cat's forehead gem.

A follow-up attack from the hulking grass-type's massive vine, nearly the breadth of her Persian's back in side, lashed at the feline and sent her flying out of the base. Shalin found her mount had been knocked out from underneath her, landing right on the Venusaur's vine. And not just anywhere -- right on the thick pod at the end of it. The vine extended away from the grass-type's main body, leaving her out of range to attack. When the vine wound back behind the flower on its back, Shalin stopped looking for an opportunity to spear the flowering Pokémon and gripped the vine beneath her with all four limbs.

This was gonna get rough. Fast.

While not quite a critical success, she had rolled high enough for the flicking vine to not instantly send her flying. A thunderous boom echoed from the vine's tip, Shalin's knees and knuckles turning solid white in a split second. From her perspective, two images of the base's exit tunnel overlapped one another in a big blur. Despite the apparent lack of movement, she had felt like she had been slammed against a brick wall from the sheer power of the VINE WHIP snapping underneath her.

Bellowing loudly after such a violent motion failed to unseat her, the Venusaur flicked its thick vine forward a second time, with much greater power than before. Whirling around fast enough to create a loud sonic discharge, Shalin went flying out of the main tunnel with great speed - so fast that she came to an abrupt stop against the side of the Icelands' arctic shelf. Next to her were her spear, a flag from the base, and her Persian, who had been flung out of the base prior.
