The dunes stretch on into infinity, rising higher and higher than the next. There had been an ocean here, once. That had evaporated, leaving nothing but the bones of those incapable of evolving to walk on land and shifting sand.

A world had ended, here.

It would be reborn again.

That was the fate of the land.

Over the next dune, Navy and Eris would hear a massive thud and crash, the sounds of battle, mixed with the intimately familiar thrum of Dynergy coursing through the battlefield. Finding life in this desert was like finding needles in a haystack, but to find Dynamaxed life?

Risky. Dangerous.

"SHIT!" Howard lunged to the side, collapsing in a heap as the Lost Golurk threw a colossal fist that shook the desert. His limbs shook and trembled. Weakness. "Kouji!"

The Golurk raised another mighty fist, intending to swing down on the two Rockets. Why had they only brought two? They should've brought more. More men. More talent. More soldiers.

Instead, Rocket had deployed Howard Slayte with Kouji as an escort.

Kouji could only move backwards, grabbing the back of Howard’s shirt as he leapt backwards, arrows had bought them some time, yet he couldn’t make out just where they had come from as he found himself falling down a dune, and rolling backwards for a bit.

The heat was oppressive, but so was the dryness of the air as he sucked in a deep breath the moment he pulled his head out of the sand, looking up to see Navidson. He didn’t expect the man to have been in the same place as them; but more importantly, it was time for him to get his head in the game properly, bringing out his Meowscarada.

As its punches shake and rattle the earth, she hears the voices that dance amidst the chorus of shifting sands. And all it takes is Navy's call to reaffirm her thoughts.[break][break]

Many questions flood her mind. But as the Golurk groans and readies yet another devastating swing, she knows that they must be momentarily laid to rest. Her palms rest against the hardened shell of her Torterra, pushing her into a more stable sitting position. Things are going to get rough and it'd be best if she doesn't wind up eating a mouth full of sand.[break][break]

Not even the harshness of this desert will hinder their will, sprouts beginning to poke through the sand and spread. And within seconds, the golden dunes are swallowed by an evergreen sea.[break][break]

The Golurk raises its fist in anticipation for its new foes. The numbers were against it. It was now four against one instead of two against one. Still, it had size as an advantage, and Howard's Regice was too dangerous to use. The amount of Dynergy in the admin's system made its usage lethal.

His limbs trembled.

"I'll live." The admin was not pleased by this save. Navy would bring him down if offered. Still, their mutual contempt for Dynamax chained them together. "My pride won't."

He had none left.

His Orthworm skipped through the sands, Hardening as it approached the Golurk.

It wasn’t the place where others could exchange pleasantries, catch up, or lick their wounds. This Golurk was trouble, he looked over himself as he brushed the sand over him, the dust piled below him as he took out his Pokemon, Meowscarada stood staring down the stone giant.

Everyone had their role, the field of grassy energy took over the dry desert, taking the edge and dryness off, and making breathing easier.

The sand shifts. It isn't used to such all-encompassing weight being placed upon its dunes. The ground sinks and bends around them, and Howard grabs on to his Orthworm in order to stay afloat.

It skips him through the sand like stone dancing across the water. Hopefully he doesn't sink into the dunes at the end of this escapade.

"Blind it!" Howard shouted from the sands as his Orthworm swam past. "Mud Slap!"

There was no mud in this desert, and there wouldn't be for a thousand years. Regardless, his Orthworm tried its hardest, slapping sand into the Golurk's eyes with reckless abandon.
