IN OCTOBER, swarms of Hisuian Zoroar are reported to be seen on Mt. Pyre. Thanks to Space-Time Distortions, these "Baneful Foxes" have become more commonplace in Hoenn. Their disheveled fur, white and ghostly, strike fear into the hearts of those who witness them. If you are able to survive these embodiments of death, then you may come away with a new powerful partner.[break][break]

Elise takes her own Hisuian Zorua to play with the wild fox Pokemon in the swarm while they’re both there in the graveyard near Mt. Pyre. Chiyo goes over to play with the little fox Pokemon while the Zoroark look at the female fox with an approving nod. Chiyo is happy to play with the older fox’s young and she partakes in their games of tag with each other.[break][break]

“We’ll see if there’s a Noh performance at the theater in Rustboro.” The ambassador reminds her ghost Pokemon gently since she knows that her little Zorua loves the plays in the traditional theater. Elise did have to admit that she misses seeing them back in Johto, maybe she’ll go back for a vacation someday.[break][break]

Ever wasn’t sure what had brought him here. Well, he did, but he didn’t have very high hopes when it came to things like this. Then again, he was a pessimist, so him having doubts wasn’t exactly uncommon, especially when it came to his own abilities. Not that he would ever tell anyone about his doubts.

Resisting the urge to sigh, he studied the spectral foxes, trying to figure out exactly a plan of attack. Well, not attack exactly; he would rather not do something like that if he didn’t look like it. As he studied them, he was strangely reminded of a manga he had once read as a child, one of the times he had managed to visit the library.

The hairstyle kind of reminded him of the hairstyles of the characters in the manga. What had the hairstyle been called again? KABUKI or something like that?

embodiments of death. lisette is stuck on that descriptor of the wild 'baneful foxes' that have appeared throughout hoenn. such a name excites her. if this pokemon — if it even is a pokemon — is truly a harbinger of death, then perhaps lisette can finally meet her maker. [break][break]

she dresses as though going to a family dinner (though her dinners with her grandmother were never quite as fancy as this): ankle-length frilly white socks tucked into black mary-janes, a baby-doll dress in deep navy-blue with lace at the collar and hem, and elbow-length gloves, soft and supple against her skin. tresses of white hair pinned back with silver hairpins, and a navy-blue ribbon to adorn it all. [break][break]

she is ill-dressed for the trek up mt. pyre, yet carries on as daintily as though she'd been walking around a suburb, instead. while she has caught numerous pokemon (both for poaching and personal purposes) over the last few days, she has with her the six pokemon she'd like to die with the most: her lifelong friends gothitelle, noibat, stufful, and sinistea were obvious choices. the shiny minior that had fallen from a star shower one night near her campground was another obvious choice. and of course, the roserade she'd befriended, who in their last moments of life together, could create a beautiful bouquet with which to walk in the afterlife with. [break][break]

sadly, lisette finds that the embodiments of death are nothing more than altered zoruas and zoroarks. though clearly they are different than the dark-type pokemon, both in appearance and temperament. they are not as tricky or spirited as their dark counterparts. they move with such resigned bitterness that lisette wonders if they were ever truly alive to begin with. [break][break]

"their hairstyle is unique, at least." she tries not to sound deflated as she speaks to her team of pokemon, all of who have various reactions (from relieved to disappointed) that they are decidedly not going to die today. "oh, perhaps they are strong, like zoroarks tend to be. it would be a good idea to catch one, right?" right. she convinces her pokemon to try and round up one of the baneful foxes, and throws a pokeball immediately after the fact. With flowing manes for hairstyles, the Hisuian variety of Zorua and Zoroark certainly made statements - and they were quite fond of these beasts, really. Zorua and Zoroark were beautiful tricksters as it was, but the ghostly variants had their own charm, one that had stolen their heart safe to say.

With Kuro, Shiro, and the like following after... Makoto wondered if the presence of fellow kin would draw one in or not.

let it be known that kasper didn't like ghost types, but a cool hairstyle can make you be exempt from anything. for the most part- they still debate if they even want to risk the ire of one of these pokemon by trying to catch one, and even when they decide it's worth a shot, they find themself hanging more toward the edge of the crowd anyway, pokeball in hand as they wait for the perfect opportunity. and- there! one of the pokemon in the mess turns away, its back to kasper, and they take the chance to throw the pokeball and slink back with only a lot of nervousness.

A disturbance on Mt. Pyre? Could it be? [break][break]

Well, no, not exactly. It turned out that the otherworldly figures shuffling about the mountain graveyard had a far more mundane origin than Isaac would have cared for, [break][break]

“How disappointing,” he mused to no one in particular. Certainly not to the Bronzong at his side, who watched the milling foxes with a dispassionate expression. [break][break]

“Though I suppose there is that droll expression about lemons and lemonade.” [break][break]

Suddenly, there was a noise from a tall patch of grass nearby, past some jagged and neglected headstones, shrouded in thick mist. Isaac suddenly turned toward it, and screamed at what he saw. [break][break]

A figure sailed toward him, all pale white face and snarling lips and bulging eyes and pointed teeth. The inscrutable bell rushed forward to meet it, and with a tremendous cry, hollow and echoing like the ringing of a bonshō, the Pokemon crashed into the figure with a HEAVY SLAM. [break][break]

By the time Isaac realized what had happened, the demonic figure was struggling to scramble to its feet, and its fearful illusion melted away with a shimmer, as though the creature had shed some sort of unearthly hide. The Zoroark that took its place hissed angrily but impotently, having been staggered by the blow. Isaac readied a Poke Ball, [break][break]

“Good thinking, Agnes!” he called cheerfully, as though he hadn't been trembling in fear for his life just a few minutes ago, “It wouldn't do to leave this place empty-handed.” [break][break]

And so the Poke Ball went sailing with a gentle toss, though as it shook and the priest awaited confirmation of his capture, Isaac couldn't help but glance over his shoulder. He was less than eager to run into another ghastly illusion on this mountain. [break]

The Zoroark kept transforming - or, more accurately, becoming illusions of people. She watched from the sidelines as the swarm of them spilled into the alleys. They entered as pokemon and left appearing as people, many of whom were in the crowd they stepped into. Most interestingly, there was a kabuki play going on and some of the actors had made their way to the street. The Zoroark didn't seem to perceive how outlandish the actors were and illusioned themselves into their visages without hesitation. [break][break]

The Zoroark did not master the same dance moves and performance as the actors. She shared a look with Lucario. It would be easy enough to trick one into a corner and capture it... especially when their behavior stood out from that of real people.
