If I could turn back time like DIALGA, I would change how easily I once gave my gratitude. But I've learned from past mistakes and won't be so forthcoming again. Unless it's you, of course. As long as you give me what I want.[break][break]

As for the present... you probably already know. It might even be a common wish between us. I'd like for this whole concept of the Origin Point to be moot. It gets tiring worrying about the untimely demise of every universe — especially my own. But that's a futile hope, isn't it? Fate can't be changed so simply. [break]

He worried, of course. Always. He had to. The very fabric of their universe was at stake. To combat the likes of the DRK Triad, ROCKET — and Hoenn in general — needed all the combative technologies they could get their hands on.[break][break]

That included the VIOLET BOOK and whatever manifestations it had conjured into being. [break][break]

Barnaby explained his information network to howard slayte. As the admin who largely oversaw the gathering of intelligence, he had eyes and ears almost everywhere there was an internet connection. And in the places there wasn't, he'd been setting up cameras to hopefully catch sight of the birds.[break][break]

"I've documented what I can thus far, but there doesn't seem to be a discernable pattern." Yet. They'd continue to monitor in the meantime. "I can send the data over to you if you'd like to take a look."[break][break]

"And I agree with you. Their emergence is a sign, just like those Tera Crystals," He gestured to a few crystals that had grown between cracks in the concrete walls and floor. "Or Avatars. Paradox Pokémon. Necrozma. Mega Evolution. I could go on..."[break][break]

So when he heard the telltale sound of crackling electricity, he was already prepared to sprint ahead — but not before raising his own middle finger as he passed through the threshold of the mighty doorway.[break][break]

Whether Jack saw the gesture or not didn't truly matter. His focus would likely be on the ZAP CANNON and how it hit a different ROCKET operative, causing him to crumple to the ground with an agonized groan. [break][break]

As jack wainwright passed by on the way to the door, it would be difficult to tell whether he'd killed the man or simply rendered him unconscious. All he'd see was a motionless, smoldering body. If the grunt wasn't dead, he was at least gravely injured to a life-altering degree.[break][break]

Even so, there was a time and place for such an indulgence. And, unfortunately, their time was up. Behind BARNABY FINCH, the giant door began to creak open...[break][break]

The tri-beamed energy hit his bovine Pokémon, causing her to backpedal a few paces. She took a few moments to compose herself and reorient, but quickly retaliated with another EARTH POWER.[break][break]

However, this time it wasn't aimed at the MAGNEZONE. Instead, CAMERUPT used her powers to erect a wall of earth and stone to block jack wainwright off.[break][break]

Then, without further prompting, Barnaby returned his Pokémon and made for the door.

Powerful, erratic winds cut across the battlefield. The brunt of the HURRICANE hit the ROARING MOON, causing the dragon to bellow in pain, but Barnaby's CHARIZARD used the momentum to outstretch its wings and take higher into the air.[break][break]

Ahead, BARNABY FINCH could see the ROCKET operatives they were here to aid. From this angle, it looked as if a few of them were laid out in a supine position — unconscious? Dead? It was hard to tell.[break][break]

It was time to end this, regardless. With a sharp whistle from Barnaby, Lucien dove down and blasted the ROARING MOON with yet another DRAGON BREATH. This time, however, the Paradox Pokémon expected the oncoming assault and retaliated with a FLAMETHROWER of its own, leaving WHIMSICOTT a moment to recover.[break][break]

The two attacks clashed to an explosive degree, sending sparks and tendrils of fire across the terrain.
